THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I did the resistor replacement on my son's 2005 Colorado but nothing happened. I was gearing up to pull the motor and order one when I watched your video. It was the ground!!!
I'm a woman and I think you did an excellent job, I just took everything apart and changed the resister and harness and was just fixing to order a new console with the switches but I'm gonna go check my ground right now. :)
@@evoixdelaluz my ground ended up good under the hood but the wiring harness on the passenger side on the floor behind the trim had no power on a few wires the ground included, I opened the harness and they had burnt up. I spliced the ground together to check everything out and lost blinkers and bright lights lol. Went back and made a better connection of the rest and all is well now. My blower is back to working but still only working on the 3rd setting so I went ahead and ordered the new switch control board. Thank you again for your video, I injured watching it.

not only that but one of the pins in the ground pack connector seems to not be making good ground. loose pin or something. everytime you wiggle the wire it shorts out/grounds
My hero!! I replacer the blower motor resister and burnt wire harness behind the glove box and thought I had this issue fixed but no......... the %^&$@ blower would STILL cut out on me from time to time. I then discovered the other problem: A bad ground. But where?? Yep, it was just as shown. Now identified, my way to resolve the issue was to retain the bolt and scrapped the OEM grounding box. I kept the metal leads on the conductors but trimmed them to make the leads narrower. The leads were then crammed in an oversized terminal eyelet (one with a hole large enough to accommodate the bolt) crimped in place and then soldered for good measure before reattaching to the fender wall with the original bolt. I have ground like crazy now, and this WON'T be coming apart! Like so many automotive issue, the repair is Simple Simon--- IF.......................you can only diagnose the causation! Thank you Evolution Diagnostics!
@@jamesstrupp799 I'm glad this video got you out of trouble, sometimes you just never know what's going on, but someone else already went through that same issue you're having but can't figure it out.
wrecking yard, I don't think gm is going to sell you a piece of harness for that truck, is to old. not very likely that ground harness is sold individually, thank for watching..
I have same problem, no ground on my dash control fan. I followed all your steps but still no ground on it. So I put ground straight form my PROBE III then my blower started working. So could I put straight ground wire connected to the dash control black wire(ground wire)??
How many ground wires for the heater goes to that box on the fender having the same issue I used to wiggle the box and the blower motor used to work but now I wiggle and nothing happens Cut the plug off and I put new terminals but still blower motor not working
The black box / plug on the passenger fender by the air filter, I tested the same ground wire on the back of the heater module ,but that ground is good what other ground wire runs through the passenger fender for the hvac
What other ground wire would it be under the hood on passenger side, online says there are 2 ground wires for hvac that go to that ground block /plug next to air filter? You show the 1 ground wire on the back of the heater module but where would the other ground go to ?
@@rob3888403 according to the video, I see two ground wires, one goes to the blower motor switch, one goes to the HVAC control module. I'm not at the shop to go back to my wiring diagrams to confirm it but, just remove the HVAC control module and check the ground at the blower motor switch, if you have a good solid ground at the blower motor switch, then check your blower motor resistor for a faulty connection. does your blower motor work at all speeds or not?
got rid of the black splice piece at the end of the harness, I installed a regular terminal from the auto parts, I soldered it & put everything back the way it was, done.
cut off the wires at the black box, get a regular loop terminal at auto parts, peel off some insulation on the wires, about 1/4 of an inch, solder or crimp the terminal to the wires, put it back in its place & torque the bolt to 10Nm done.

Excellent video! Thank you for the great explanation! Fixed my problem after bench-testing the blower motor!!!
This video saved the day!!! Bad ground was my issue too!!
Really good vídeo thanks you help me and my chevrolet Colorado 2008 LT 3.7
This worked for me! Ac is essential this time of year!
It sure is.
Great video you did an excellent job I appreciate you sharing the video it answered some of my questions. Keep up the good job!
This is the best video and explained step by step, thanks a lot
It's the paint where the ground bolt is. Just take off bolt and remove the paint to make a better connection for the ground.
Let's keep this comment at the top, shall we. This is what solved my problem.

I followed all your steps but still no ground on it. So I put ground straight form my PROBE III then my blower started working.
So could I put straight ground wire connected to the dash control black wire(ground wire)??
sure you can, as long as you get a good grounding point to hook your ground wire at, you shouldn't have any issues.
Great instructional video. One question, where did you find the electrical schematics?
by paying a subscription to alldata for the tiny price of 190.00 dollars a month.

So what did you do with the ground
got rid of the black splice piece at the end of the harness, I installed a regular terminal from the auto parts, I soldered it & put everything back the way it was, done.
but how did you fix the ground? did you just tap it and mess with it?
I work on cars for a living, years & years from hands on experience pays well sometimes. 👍
How did you fix that ground connection ?
cut off the wires at the black box, get a regular loop terminal at auto parts, peel off some insulation on the wires, about 1/4 of an inch, solder or crimp the terminal to the wires, put it back in its place & torque the bolt to 10Nm done.
