    “Softer and kinder…and be their FRIENDS” ❤. Love this so much. Watching your videos over the years has really changed my interactions and view of these amazing creatures. I always loved them but they deserve only love and kindness because they are always doing their best to be kind to us. Thanks for sharing your story 💕

    I’m SO touched by your story!! I too started riding at aged 4! We lived and learned didn’t we? I’m 75 now and don’t ride anymore but I do in my thoughts and dreams… my first horse was a perch/quarter mix… best horse I ever had… thanks for your share♥️🥲🥰🙏🏻🙋‍♀️♥️‼️☮️

    Horses, or animals of any kind, will benefit us Shelby, if we take the time to LISTEN to the LESSONS they are trying to TEACH us all the time. Every interaction you have, with Milo, Banksy, Harlow, Pogo or even Pheobe, teaches us something new everyday. We just have to be willing to listen and learn from what they are trying to teach us. As much as we teach them, they teach us so much more!! As always, your friend, the Retired Paramedic, a S&R Dog and Handler Team Trainer, Horse Trainer, and FORMER FEI Level 1 Judge, in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦

    I LOVE this. Being able to reflect and admit where you made mistakes, and what you regret and have learned to change and improve is one of the most important qualities for a trainer and true equestrian to have.

    Its amazing to see your journey with horses and how you learned more as the years went on. Videos like these make me believe even more that even though I haven't been as privileged in the horse world, I can still fulfill my dreams of becoming a trainer who used more gentle methods and shows me that all I need is determination to do it. You have been my role model for quite some years now, and I can't wait to be able to make a difference by using more gentle methods and showing others that you don't need harsh equipment to produce amazing horses.

    Wow what a wonderful video and story. It's amazing how every twist and turn has helped to bring you to where you are today. I have always loved horses but have never ridden, however I find your videos give me an insight into the bond that is possible between horse and rider. I find this both fascinating and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story and your knowledge and for your openness and dedication to horse welfare. You are awesome ❤

    I'm jealous.. I started at seven and it was really on and off because we moved to different towns so much. I love horses and stand by empathetic training. Honestly I wish I had made horses my priority from the start. You are so inspiring though

    Hearing you talk about your trainers showing you aggresive reactions towards horses and teaching you how to be the boss makes me feel better about my journey. I'm from poland and I'd say that classic riding here is pretty voilent and I really didn't like it, finding your channel opened my eyes on people teaching me abuse towards animals I loved and because of it I quit riding. I'd love to come back but I struggle with finding a place where horses are getting a possitive treatment. It breaks my heart when I think about horses that experienced a bad treatment from me under the eye of trainers that I adored and treated as my role models. The horse that opened my eyes was a 7 yo arabian stalion that was highly reactive and sensitive to pressure. Then I found your channel and learned how to train and respect horses. I even started taking ground work classes to train my own horses and take care of their welfare but unfortunately I don't have founds to make those dreams come true. I'm in collage rn and I belive that after finding work that can provide me I'll get to go back to horses and make sure they're respected.
    I really adore your channel, you're changing peoples lives and opening their eyes. Thank you for sharing all this content and letting me become a better person for all the horses I'll meet next.

    In a world so full of horses being neglected (physically and mentally), a pervasive mindset that you need to be 'the boss,' a system that rewards only extreme results no matter the cost to the horse (and humans), and general welfare issues out the wazoo, be a Shelby Dennis

    Thank you so much for sharing your equine story so far, Shelby. I really loved watching this video, even though some moments were heartbreaking. I used to watch Monty Roberts for years and read his books. It amazed me to find out that horses could be gentled without any force or stress involved. I love your methods, they are the best. Can't wait to see how your journey goes from here. I wish every horse trainer was like you. 💜🐎

    Wow ! Yo are so lucky to have lived the life I would have wanted to have ! My mom never supported my love for horses so I only was able to start developing more intensely with them in my 40s. I am now 55 and try to spend as much time training them using natural horsemanship as you have explained. I train other people's horses but dont have the stress of money since I have a career that offers me a lot of free time. Am planning soon to move to a farm area to move things ahead. Thanks so much for sharing and best of luck moving ahead !

    Have you ever written yourself a letter? Sounds crazy huh? You need to give it a try. Tell yourself about how amazing life will be and how your relationship with horses will grow. Tell yourself how many horses and people you will help along the way. Also forgive yourself as you were just a child in love with horses.

      @@Milestone-Equestrian really ? With all the deaths on the racetrack ? Forcing them to run until the horses collapse ? Starting to race 2year olds ? Did you not encounter that ? It seems to me like the racing industry is one of the worst horse sports in terms of ethics

    • @Milestone-Equestrian
      @Milestone-Equestrian  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@superlativesultan6165 no one I’ve ever worked with has had a breakdown and done any of those things and believing the industry is able to be reformed doesn’t mean I support that.
      There’s people in the show industry who have shocked horses to death with car batteries to get insurance money. Do you think anyone who thinks those industries are able to be reformed is in support with that or are you just more judgmental of racing?

    • @superlativesultan6165
      @superlativesultan6165 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Milestone-Equestrian trust me I know bad things go on in all horse sports... But the death count each year on race tracks is just heart wrenching.
      I dislike competitions because I can clearly see that money is more important to people than their horse's welfare. But it seems to me that it's even more prevalent in horse racing. The horses are started too early and they are totally rushed. They're just taught to run for their lives. All ottbs I've seen were traumatized and didn't even know basic griundwork. They also lacked in socialisation and had trouble interacting with other horses...
      That's why, as an equine activist, I don't get how you were able to work there.

    • @Milestone-Equestrian
      @Milestone-Equestrian  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@superlativesultan6165 it is indeed but it’s foolish to insinuate that it doesn’t have to do with the sheer # of horses running and the fact that the info is publicly available.
      As someone who’s been in the competitive industry and worked in racing, the same abusive tactics are used just about everywhere, racing just actually has more accountability whereas heinous abuse in competitive horse sports is a lot easier to hide and never have end up in the news.
