    I love that since your start you have not gotten stuck in one realm. I think that was one thing that helped me. From hunter/ jumper to breed shows to thoroughbred/Standardbreds to young to troubled horses englishto western to driving to galloper to jogger to dressage. That is what makes a great trainer and one that can truly help a horse because you have had more opportunities to hands on work with many horses and experience problems.
    Keep doing what you do you have a good head on your shoulders. Love seeing your transitions. It made me think back to the days when I didn’t need bits and such. It was neat seeing you change.
    I also know your love of thoroughbreds, most don’t know that of me. Most people I feel don’t know how wonderful they can be.
    There were so many when I worked at the race farm I wish I could of taken to work with for their new life’s after racing.
    Can’t wait to see more of what’s to come for you. It’s an adventure that captures your heart and soul when you work with horses.
    Also had to add, I used to fall asleep on my bouncer horse when I was young and loved them since I can remember also. It’s like we are born with it.

    I was told I didn't have the money to ride horses when I was younger. I did. Where there's a will there's a way. I did though College. Now, a Re-Rider. 20 years after. Trying to get back to where I was.
    Keep going. Keep riding. Keep studying.
    Lucky you have a Mom who is behind you. I did it all by myself. I think she came to one show.
    No internet bullies then. That was a good thing. Your seat is awesome. Your method is really very thoughtful and kind.
    You live the life I wanted to.
    I'm thrilled to be able to just ride my friend's horses. It's a gift that I cherish.
    I love your videos.
    Keep going and just keep going.♥️

    I got started at 4 with a little miniature stallion! Parents thought that'd be a good idea. Since 16, I stopped riding since my old boy passed and my mental health got worse. I wish I could pick it back up. My favorite horses are draft breeds and one day I hope to have one since my small draft breed has been so hard to work with but so rewarding. Since 2012, I've been teaching young riders how to respectfully and responsibly handle, ride, and care for horses. Nothing on the scale that you're doing your work, but everyone has to start somewhere!

I used to blindly follow what past trainers have taught me, and I heavily relied on internet trainers. Upon finding you, Ive been more encouraged to do my own research and develop my own opinions and beliefs. You sparked my interest in animal behavior again talking about your love for training and it honestly means a lot, as I have been very confused and insecure about any future plans. You probably get told this all the time, but you are a rare and gifted 'true' horsewoman, and it is SO cool to watch you grow and ride and train horses! Thank you for posting all of these videos and documenting this journey!
    It was always my dream to rescue horses, and train them to be 'useful' so they may hopefully never find themselves in an auction situation again, giving the horse a skillset=saves their life. But as life went on, money and time became more and more tight with kids, careers, marriage etc, so when there's someone as dedicated and talented as you out there with the option to assist in her journey to rescue horses via purchasing merch or paypal donations, its the perfect opportunity to help and get your dream (with the same end result as my dream!) off the ground!
    Makes me wonder how many others are out there who want to help horses or have big dreams to open a foundation etc, and just dont reach out to the community effectively.
    Amazing riding story, so inspiring!

    I started riding at 12 and really started riding at 13-14. I got my first horse 5 months ago and he has been such a learning experience. He's taught me *alot* about behavior, training, and bonding with horses. My gelding is a 16hh 21 y/o Draft×Standardbred and gaited. He paces and my trainer was doubtful we could ever compete in dressage but here we are! A lot of sleepless nights, crying, friction in the bond, and frustration later and we're doing dressage clinics. The clinic trainer is very supportive!
    My hope is to train my gelding enough to be a safe ride for my mom and then get a project horse. I won't be able to sell my gelding(i made a deal with the previous owner to retire him back to her) so Ill need some way to get the money to buy a more permanent horse. I want to get either an OTTB or a young rescue.
    That or my trainer has a trakehner stud colt that I've had my eye on for a year now. I love him. Im hoping she'll be willing to sell to me but he's currently not available. Im hoping Ill be able to be apart of his breaking and training next year. He's only turning 2 this year so there's still time!

    Your story is very inspiring and always a dream to watch.
    I fell in love with racehorses when I was 17 and still love them. I worked with harness racing horses (Standardbreds and French trotters) and they are amazing. They are so intelligent but they are a lot harder to start under saddle as they are used to pull with the front legs instead of pushing with the hind legs. But they always try to give me the world.

    Back when OTTBs were dirt cheap. Now its such a fad and hard to even enjoy flipping them. You have to buy them for the cost of what flipping and selling should be. It's such a shame. I love TBs and it was my passion since very young to own, ride, and find homes for the ones off the track after living in Kentucky. Now I hate the industry that it has become.

      Depends where you live! Where I am you can get an OTTB right off the track for about 400-500

    Do you know that in addition to having ulcers nearly all ex race horses have been bleeding into their lungs after every race wheather there was blood in the nostrils or not they did a study of both gallopers and harness horses and most have some bleeding every time they race that only shows up if they are scoped

    • @Milestone-Equestrian
      @Milestone-Equestrian  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not true, but that is what lasix is for in the event a horse a bleeder. Bleeding occurs during races, to a lesser extent then you are trying to imply and does not continue after retirement. Racehorse owners are extremely quick to scope and they will DEFINITELY be aware if the horse is a bleeder. Also, most competition horses also have ulcers if not preventatively treated. This is why good trainers treat preventatively. Given the fact I work in the industry, I don't need you to try to to educate me with the propagandized version of what goes on. But ok

    Notice the name Chalmath Palihapitiya on account. This is a hacker name. These are Shelby Dennis’ videos. The hacker is stealing her income and subscribers. I just noticed today and went to her Instagram account to find out what happened. If you like her videos send feedback to YT, Twitter, Instagram. She has a new temporary account.

    I’m not a fan of the noseband cover she was using with Milo jumping, I think it makes it harder for the horses to judge their distances if they can’t look down. I’d be scared the horse wouldn’t see the distance so might run through or refuse the jump. I just don’t think it’s fair to deprive him of that sense.

    • @Milestone-Equestrian
      @Milestone-Equestrian  5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I really didnt ask for your opinion but just do you know, a shadow roll only prevents the horse from seeing things on the ground right below them. They have poor vision in front of the nose as it is, so no, it wouldn't affect his ability to see distances considering the jump isn't at ground level and by the time it is remotely close to being in the blind spot, he would have already jumped. Dont use equipment you domt like on your horses but dont criticize equipment other people use based on your erroneous judgments.

      Shelby Dennis I wasn’t tying to be bitchy, it’s just my opinion, most of my experience is on horses that weren’t trained the best and the one mare I’ve riden for about a year and a half loves to throw in half a stride of leave one out just to throw me off my game. You have complete confidence in Milo because you made him, I don’t have that luxury, I dont trust them unless I’ve riden them for years.

      @@rebeccawolf8317 just a bit unnecessary because you're criticizing my equipment on my horse without even knowing how it works. Shadow rolls are FOR horse with confidence issues, not the other way around.
