I started the year off crocheting a stash granny blanket. I'm not on social media for personal reasons or I would post my pics, but I find that TH-cam satisfies my need for sharing and for company. I love your channel and have made several projects along with you. You have such a calm, soothing voice and manner that it's easy to learn from you. Thank you Jennifer.
Love the idea and the colors you chose will be very pretty. Enjoyed the video very much, I have never made a granny square yet ... I don't know why yet I have seen some beautiful one's I would love to make, but looked like they would be challenging to make for a beginner. And I will be doing this as soon as I get enough scrap yarns. I don't have enough scrap's to get very far right now. . But just love your videos, Facebook page, and your website and the beautiful yarns you use .
Jennifer, Thank you for reaffirming something that I have been doing all along. I have not kept a single scrap granny blanket because someone usually likes enough that I give it away. Although with this Winter being so cold and unable to repair ac/heating unit it has been very cold in my home and I discovered a shortage of warm blankets. So, I have decided to be a bit selfish and make three scrap blankets, one for each of my bedrooms. I want to learn how to make a rectangle granny square for the single bed in the spare bedroom. Also, a rectangle for a queen size bed. I believe a regular granny square will be okay for the full size bed, although I may be wrong. Really looking forward to this challenge.
I found a tutorial here on TH-cam for the rectangle, and used it for place mats for my mom as well as twin afghans for my 3 oldest grands. I thought I saved the link but can't find it. It starts by chaining 15 then DC 5x in 4th CH from hook, its a corner so don't forget CH 1 space, then CH 1 skip 3 and 3 DC in 4th CH 1 skip 3 and 3 DC in 4th, CH 1 and 12 DC in last CH space (3 DC, CH 1) it's two corners, then in same chain space as you worked your 3dc for the sides, repeat until you get to original corner where you will work last 6 DC for that round, slip st to join. Hope this helps, will continue to look for link
I already started a stash buster blanket last year, but I will be adding to it, after I finish the next three blankets I have to do. Thankfully, two of the three are 90% done, so I don't have far to go. 😊 I love the colors you have going on! Gorgeous! 👍🏻❤️
I love granny squares and afghans. I don't have a large yarn stash or leftover bits of yarn, however, I have decided to make all 6 of my grandbabies an afghan for Christmas. So I bought 36 of the Lion Brand Mandala yarn cakes. I bought 6 for each afghan so I will use up all the yarn. When they are all done, I will but a little more solid colored yarn for the borders. I hope I can do this!
Storybook Stitchery you can do it! I had a granddaughter this last June and I sat down and crocheted 12 or 14 different large baby blankets for her. I made several of them out of Mandala yarn and they got all kinds of comments at the baby shower. Just relax and enjoy!
Another fantastic idea Jennifer! I like the words "stashbuster" and "year long" lol. I'll be doing this along with you as well as the temperature shawl I have started. Now, to pick some colors! 😄😘💖
I'm in the process of winding all of my yarn balls and half scenes since i originally did plastic canvas stitching. I have a lot of different colors of acrylic yarn of the same weight to cover the canvas. Once i get all of it wound and neatly compiled this seems like a good project to start on a little at a time... Maybe some baby doll blankets instead...
I wanted to add that I do my granny stitch differently. I start with a magic circle instead of chains and if using a thinner yarn, I do not chain one between the 3 DCs and I only chain one in the corner. I also use a smaller hook. This makes a tighter granny square which is nice with the lighter weight yarns.
Haha 😆 that was great don’t ya just love it when you have just about one inches or less left of yarn. I did a giant boomerang shawl and ran out at the last double crochet so I wove in the end sideways to make it look like a normal tip. It’s a secret though 😊. Enjoyed your tutorials as always and guess what I’m learning to KNIT yay your beginner videos are great so others reading my comments check out Jennifer ‘s beginner knit videos or crochet if your new to either 💕
I'm doing the same thing only I'm knitting with 2 strands held together one is solid and one in gratuitous, just have too much odds and ends to waste. So fun.
Hi~ Love these two CAL tutorials. Have a ? for you though I tried to introduce myself in Ravelry but don't know how to get into the place where you introduce yourself. Saw what others had written...??? Thanks for your great tutorials and information!!
So, I'm new to this! Are you making lots of squares and then sewing them together at the end or just making one big blanket off of the starting square? Thanks!
Bonnie Steinroeder it sounds like it is going to be one large granny square. She will just keep adding the colors as she goes around. Good luck. Have fun.
Ive been working on a scrapghan as well lol. I’ve not allowed myself to buy any new yarn until I’ve gone through the majority (75%) of my odds and ends. So Hard not to buy new!!

I made blankets for each if my grands but started with a granny rectangle, so it would fit their twin beds.
I just made a small throw for the back of the recliner. It turned out pretty
