    YO, For all those saying "I would literally DIE without any windows, etc. etc." Well, we did install a window over the couch. By far the top negative comment haha so I guess we'll have to make a window video...

    You should keep the carbon monoxide sensor down low to the floor as carbon monoxide is heavier than oxygen. By the time the sensor picks it up you might have already been sitting in it. But you might already know that and if so just ignore this lol great build, looking forward to building one myself in the future

    • @DaveGme
      @DaveGme ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ummmm, no. It’s lighter than air, but not light enough to rise like smoke does. Your placement is flawed in that it could be closer to the sleeping area so it will wake you sooner. It as for detection, it’s fine.

    Actually very impressed and the bed/storage area is brilliant. More than enough space to live comfortably, not sure how I would go about configuring for our Winters here in Canada, but the box truck is very appealing and has distinct merits. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos

Lol... and as an industrial electrician, I would love to see more on your electrical system, I am considering a box truck or skoolie conversion for travel work and don't mind using someone else's ideas to save time and money. If you want a plain and simple answer for keeping your cupboard doors above the kitchen counter OPEN.... Look for some Clear Velcro Pads with an adhesive backing. Stick a pad to the front of a door then one to the ceiling! Velcro is also great at keeping things from moving around on their own while driving! For example, put some on any drawers you don't want sliding out on their own.

    What a cool build! I like the box truck. It’s bigger than a van and IMO gives it still a bit more stealthy look. Yes the various outlets probably gives it away someone living in there and the bike on the back. But still. Then there’s the bed that lift up to more storage and probably gives easier access to the cab. I love that you have acces to the cab from the living quarters and vice versa without having to step outside. I probably would’ve come up with some design feature that would allow a real door to the bathroom to keep out sound and odors🤣

    • @theboonboxers
      @theboonboxers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Box trucks are super stealthy! We kinda gave up the idea that we wanted to be that stealth anyway. We don't spend too much time in big cities. But yeah the design is simple, we might make a video on what we would do differently next time. A better shower door and fan would most likely be on that list!

      I am almost finished converting a Ford Transit box truck with garage for motorcycle under bed, it even has a hydraulic lifting backdoor for loading the bike ;) Much more room in a box truck then a van. Going 100% stealth, only thing suspicious is the 1280w of solar panels on roof but normally you do not see them because it is so high up (it is 3,2m tall) and just look like a roof rack from the sides.

    greetings from australia, just a comment on your carbon monoxide detector, carbon monoxide is a very heavy gas, think of this way, your van is filling with water, its the same as how Carbon monoxide builds up, from the bottom to the top, in australia my detector in my RV is in the foot well, the absolute lowest point in the interior it can be, not near the roof as where smoke detectors are located, the time your co detector sounds alarm will be to late
    as for your lpg heater, in australia all lpg heaters without an external flues are banned as people have died from co pensioning, i would toss it out the window

    • @theboonboxers

      Everyone has their 2 cents on CO detectors. We have one and it works well, it has an LED numerical screen that will light up with even the smallest amount is detected (30ppm) sometimes we see it when not properly vented during cooking, but the reality is we have one and I know it works well. Thank you for your concerns though.

    • @theboonboxers
      @theboonboxers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Accidentally posted twice, here is what the EPA.gov (US) says "Because carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air and also because it may be found with warm, rising air, detectors should be placed on a wall about 5 feet above the floor. The detector may be placed on the ceiling. Do not place the detector right next to or over a fireplace or flame-producing appliance. Keep the detector out of the way of pets and children. Each floor needs a separate detector. If you are getting a single carbon monoxide detector, place it near the sleeping area and make certain the alarm is loud enough to wake you up."

      Nice and spaceous! You could make those headlamps much better by sanding the dirt and scratches away. You can buy the liquids in just about any autopart store and they're easy to use, makes the lights much brighter.

    Different but very functional. We just finished our 50 states two years ago when we hit Maine and a couple other NE states at age 73, however half of those were after retirement. We have a fully off grid setup, but will spend a night or two in campgrounds just to hang out and be fully connected.

    • @theboonboxers
      @theboonboxers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Way to go!! We only have Alaska to go... And that's a trek. We definitely like the luxury of campgrounds (especially with hookups) but it is nice to camp free off grid! Cheers to you

    • @vonheise
      @vonheise 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theboonboxers We did a cross country to Alaska, starting in Washington DC and stayed mostly in campgrounds. We heard one horror story after another about the condition of the Alcan Highway to Alaska, being told that we would have at least one broken windshield due the double long 18 wheelers pulling two full size trailers and running up to 80 MPH. Also would break tires in the deep potholes. At that time we didn't know of another way to get there. To see the most of the country we went all the way to San Francisco and walked over the Golden Gate bridge and too pictures. Then we went up Hwy 1 and 101 to the state of Washington intending to work our way to the Alcan. However, we saw an ad for the Alaska Marine Highway from Bellingham, WA to Alaska. We ended up getting tickets and the truck and camper rode in the bottom of the ferry and we had a choice of a stateroom or sleeping on deck chairs under a heated cover on the back of the huge ferry. We got videos of whales breaching, saw seals, and lots of other sea creatures and eagles. That trip didn't cost any more than the 4 days on the Alcan and it only took 2.5 days. It became the 3rd best part of the trip after the glaciers and Denali National Park. You should have a passport as we had to cross into Yukon Territory twice to get to places we wanted to go.
