    Hey Joe , I just don't understand it ? I enjoy all your show ! Then I start reading the comments below and nothing but haters ! I really don't understand why ? These people just don't get it as specially the one thats been around ? ....... Its about getting excited about something new and fresh and going out to buy a pan , a metal detector , a sluice , and put your old fishing pole away and try something new and bring your family and friends and neighbor in the great outdoor ! Thats what I see and im very excited ! What is going on with today generation Joe ? I just don't understand why we have to be hateful toward one another just to enjoy the great outdoor ? Thanks Joe !

    This is a interesting channel, I like your relaxed pace and knowledge. Make's being stuck at home after falling down the stairs a bit more bearable. I'm in one of the area's of the UK with a LITTLE Gold (Wales), never given panning a go but I might have a crack in some of the streams I know with obvious Quartz veins.

      I grew up in Northwest of Montana, in the crown of the Rockies. I'm actually baffled why there isn't more efforts to find more mineral deposits. I know the geology in that part of the Rockies is very conducive to mineralization which usually leads to quartz, pyrite and of course gold formations.

    Good video, but I think you need to work a bit on your panning technique. In the beginning its wayyyy to vigorous and you are probably losing a big % of gold out of the pan. Stratify does NOT mean shaking all the water out of the pan. It means get everything very very wet. Just FYI. Lucky to get a huge piece like that. Every prospectors dream.

    get an exact container say a gallon size, fill it with worthless sand, small rocks, weigh it on a good scale, do this a few times for an average weight. Now go searching with that container and scale keep weighing spots, find a spot that that gallon weighs considerably more start panning

    I have been able to find some nice chunks before in my pan...just like he did...but I was going through an area that had been stripped down by a big company years ago with equipment but they still left alittle of dirt in a few place on top of the bedrock that I was able to scrape off the hard work had been done years before and I just happened to luck out a bit with the info on why the area had been cleared

      #Tank Soldier, You can't get out any more honey? I'm so sorry to hear that. I was bed ridden for 5 years. Had my hip replaced. What's going on with you? If you don't mind me asking? About 4 months ago I was in a coma from double pneumonia. I came out of the coma after a couple weeks. I couldn't move from my neck down. Had a machine breathing for me. I'm still learning how to physically do everything again. I was like a new baby with an adult mind. Couldn't talk or nothing. I spent 2 months in a special hospital where they worked me 6 hours a day to get me functioning again. The hardest part was sitting up by myself. The worse part was having to be fed like a baby, and walking with a walker for a month. If you need to talk you can come to my channel and leave me a message in one of my playlists. Just remember to use a hash tag and my name, so I will get a notification. Okay I'm on here every day. We can chat anytime you need someone to talk too. 🐘 🤝 😊

      he likely prospected all his life to finally find a spot like this...it's called paying your dues. There are spots like this, and yes they are hard to find. And the time spent total hours working for it pays about $5.00 hr in the end. One good find makes up for months of nuthin and it all kinda equals out..............to about 5 bucks an hour.

    Id like to see you pan into a large plastic container, then pan the mixture over again. That "speed panning" technique you showed us lost a bunch of the fines, i promise ya. A couple drops of dish soap helps drop the gold and breaks the capillary attraction of the "floaters". I pan flour gold here in northern California. Dish soap, and roll my pan in a back and forth circle. Its worked for me every time.

      Same stuff, Geoff! I'm going back there next week, and let's see how we do with a vacuum. Look back and see how little I have in the bucket.

      You're right. There was more in the bucket before the filming was cut then when he came back on.

    Thanks for the gold and the chance to watch you get it. My father made a gas operated sluce bed for going through quanities of river sand and rock it would probably work fine on what your doing it had a pump and a shaker box it shook in two directions. powered by a briggs and stratton lawn mower engine I have the plans for it which I could find. I have never gotten the gold fever myself but for a few months he sure loved to run through the sand and black sand got himself about 2 oz of flower from about 2/3 rds of a 55 gallon drum that they got from the marias river south of shelby. I'll sub to you and if your interested maybe i'll find the plans duplicate them for you and if your a aluminum welder you can copy it and use it to find alot more gold.

    I live in northern NY near Adirondacks...Is it worth trying up here? I don't know a soul up here who even owns a pan...lol

      There is gold nearly every where, and I believe you have glacier carried gold as well as river born. Do a little research on your area, I bet you find some!

      Mark Narducci I'm in plattsburgh found gold in 3 out of 4 brooks I've checked but only a few tiny specks and had to put it back because it's illegal to keep the gold in ny. Go to vt

    I've had a few pans that rich so I know it can be found. But agreed this looks salted and that is hands down the worst panning technique I've ever seen. A man's back would last one day stooping and shaking like that.

    Has anyone given you the hint about using a drop or three of dishwasher "jet dry" in you pan to keep the surface tension down?
    Pssst, use a drop or three of "jet dry" in your pan to keep the surface tension down.
    😉
    P.S. those big honkers are worth more as specimens than the value of their weight.
    Man o man you find some nice gold! Sure would love to come and break my back diggin with ya!!

      I'm new to panning, well I've been learning what I can for about a year. But, I haven't come across this tip yet. I understand what Jet Dry is and what it does, but what is the importance of reducing the waters surface tension? Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer.

    • @Cambpro
      @Cambpro 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The fines will actually float out of the pan. Breaking the surface tension keeps your fines in the pan. Dawn also works

      Yeah but you would need to use a separate pan to wash in. You cannot use jet dry in a creek or river, it could hurt ecosystem.

    • @RichardGottshall
      @RichardGottshall 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not know you can't use jet dry in a creek. How about Dawn?

      This is only the second year of really getting out a lot, I'm just an amateur at best. We happen to be in gold country, so basic skills get the job done.
