I read an interview with Chase where he said he originally wanted there to be no credits at the end of that last show… just blackness for the amount of time that the credits would usually be rolling. The only way the current production laws would allow him to do it was to have all the credits at the beginning of the show as all cast and crew are required to be credited, so he didn’t do it. It’s very telling that he wanted that though... several minutes of silent darkness.

Each song after the episode in the credits described Tony’s mood and situation. The last episode had no song . Also a play on words sopranos is a singer , and a silent soprano is one without a song .
That was rather Sexist and Juvenile to proclaim. There are songs for Gloria and Carm. Black Books is one of my favorite. It's not called The Tony. Those aren't his songs. You don't know anything other than that stale joke.
He obviously did. The ending doesn't even work the other way, like why have an ending that fixates on Meadow not being able to park, lol. It only matters because of the symbolism of her trying 3 times to park (3 attempts on Tony's life) and also because she should be seated at Tony's 3 o'clock but is delayed in doing so. Other points, like why do I need to be shown a random dude in a Member's Only jacket going to the washroom.
The moment the screen went black I knew right then that Tony was killed. The guy walking in who looked like the type of hitman but Tony being Tony should had NEVER taken his mind or sight off from that man Tony would had known just by looking at him that he didn't fit the character that should be in the room and it wasn't a hand gun it had to had been a sawed off shotgun or maybe a magnum but it had to had been a strong gun to make his lights go completely out and to cease all background noise all at once. I'm sure he wishes he could go back and completely change because I bet he's thought of so so many more ways that would had been way better but it is what it is. His masterpiece
I legit thought that maybe David Chase had actually filmed what had happened at the end of the last episode anyway but he was going to keep it hidden for 10 years then I thought he would announce a sequel to the show that would pick up a few years after the death of Tony and how Tony's death affected his mob family and his real family. I had believed this even before the untimely death of James Gandolfini but it never materialized. Also, so many great actors have passed away since the show originally aired and some are so old now I have no idea what sense it would make to do a sequel with what I had in my head. Also, I still don't believe that Silvio played a role in Tony's death but possibly Patsy may have but still pretty uncertain about that be someone like Tony Blundetto from New York go off the reservation and go buck wild with it but still how does he (members only jacket) know they are going to meet together at the place that has always made me wondered how would they meaning New York have known.
What I always got from the ending and its deliberate ambiguity was that Tony would get whacked sooner or later. If not in this diner, then another one, some other time. The wheel was turned and the die cast; Tony's comeuppance was inevitable, and our unknowingness to the when and where of it all was the entire point, I think. Tony doesn't get a glamorous demise; he doesn't even get the dignity of knowing it happened, and neither do we.
Problem is that it was way too over the top and blatant with the clues that it’s almost like a parody. That being said, that’s my reason for not taking the “clues” so literally. They’re not clues, they’re just reasons to suggest that death may or may not be the case in this moment, but they want us to still fear it might happen and build the suspense. I think Chase wanted to create that and leave the option open for future projects and therefore, there is no definitive ending. That’s basically what happened, nothing. We’re left holding our stuff in our hand.
The other clue, IMO, is the killing of Phil in the same episode. A boss killed with a bullet in the head in front of his wife and two children. His death ties perfectly
sorry if u don’t see it, it’s not actually happened. so why no i don’t believe tony lived happily ever after i also don’t believe he got shot at Halsotins that night in finale
For almost 20yrs I’ve been telling weak-minded people who are unable to think abstractly that Tony didn’t die - the show “died.” Yeah, ‘black means death,’ but i’ll direct you to the second half of Season 6 first episode when Tony and Bobby are on the boat fishing. Basically they discuss Death and how you’re alive one minute, and the next *nothing.* If Tony was killed, why not just say it? People need to learn how to think outside the box. Also, i’m not saying it’s a good ending, but it is what it is.
What are you talking about? That scene with Bobby on the boat even further supports the FACT that Tony is dead.As that's literally what happened with Tony. And Wow Lynch Wow went over that pretty thoroughly in this video if you would have watched it.
He obviously wrote it as a death scene, but now doesn't want to outright say it. You don't randomly end a show on a cut to black for no reason. We don't need to know the Members Only jacket dude needed to get up and go to the washroom. We don't need half the final scene spent on showing Meadow trying to parallel park, lol. These things are meaningless if the ending is "well Tony lived".
"Infamous" means famous for being Bad (e.g., "a date which will live in infamy" - FDR, on the Pearl Harbor attack). Due to the TH-cam Feedback Loop - wherein videomakers unthinkingly parrot and propagate each other's speech errors - "infamous" has become widely mistaken as simpy an intensified form of "famous." Misusers of the word (presuming Some of them have given the matter some thought) perhaps mistakenly have likened it to "invaluable," where the prefix "in-" essentially intensfies "valuable." A troubling consequence of widespread misuse is that dictionaries - as a matter of policy (now in need of revision in this age of the viral Internet) - will update definitions to reflect vernacular usage, leading to an obvious slippery slope towards ultimate language debasement, whereby we shall see the King's English supplanted by babblings of illiterates.
