We were too concentrated on Jacqueline Kennedy, in the meantime, we completely glossed over the greatness of this woman who raised her 11 children single handedly and advocated the cause of human rights her whole lifetime to honour her late husband. She never remarried.

And believe it or not, families can have more than one matriarch, especially in an extended family. So yeah, Ethel was a matriarch in the Kennedy family in addition to Rose. And I’m old enough to remember when Ethel was a very well known figure back in the day. I knew of Ethel Kennedy YEARS before I had ever heard of RFK, Jr. And RFK, Jr. is not her only child who has sought political office. Her oldest child was the Lt. Governor of Maryland for eight years, and both her son and grandson served in the US House of Representatives. So there are far more other impactful and influential members of her family than RFK, Jr.
What a beautiful woman. Ethel is an inspiration. They don't make people like this anymore. May she fly free in Heaven with her beloved husband, Bobby. He's been waiting for her a long time.
