@p. sherman3158, RFK was entitled to a military burial at ANY Veteran’s National Cemetery in the US, including Arlington National Cemetery. This was because he had served in the Naval Reserve during WW11, and was honorably discharged from his duties. Because of this, Ethel was eligible for a military burial also, which I assume you mean when you say “special burial”. My late father in law is buried at a Veteran’s National Cemetery in Wisconsin because he served in WW11. He had a burial with full military honors. Now that my mother in law is ill and will be passing soon, we have made arrangements for her to be buried next to him. She is also eligible for a military burial, because of her husband’s honorable service to his country. I don’t know why you people have such a difficult time comprehending this, but you can google it, and you will receive the same answer that I just gave you. Or, you can call any Veteran’s Cemetery and get the information from them. Wouldn’t that make more sense than continuing to argue about it? Keep in mind that the burial MUST be at a Veteran’s Cemetery - and ANY honorably discharged Veteran can be buried at ANY Veteran’s Cemetery in the US. Their surviving spouses are eligible to be buried next to them, and are also eligible for a military style of burial when they die, if they choose to do that .
