Americans have turn CDMX into the very place that they're running from, now the cost of living in Mexico is getting close to US living standards, which kind of defeats the purpose of moving there because you think it was cheaper.

Ferozo Not true amigo. This increase in rents is due to multiple reasons but the main reason is that the mayor of Mexico cancelled more than 250 high-rise buildings or thousands of new apartments when she took possession back in 2018 saying that there was not money to upgrade the infrastructure. She then denied more building permits and she never upgraded the infrastructure. during her turn in office.
In fact she did the opposite but now she is happy running for president, Whoever votes for Sheim..baum is crazy. Also, Mexico has entered at the end of its developing phase and entering a fully developed economy so more Mexicans are actually displacing Mexicans in CDMX and in other cities in Mexico. Yes, you probably can see more people from the US and Canada too but this slow and continue migration has been happening for decades at a much smaller pace but the pandemic accelerated this so you can not blame only one group for what's happened. You've got to look at broader picture.
You also have a lot of migration from the south of Mexico that no one seems to complaint about and they are too part of the problem. They also need a place to stay and therefore the demand in housing increases and rents go higher but you got millions of Mexicans that won't recognize that by having the southern border open in Chiapas and not imposing a visa on all the countries in Latin America, Mexico is only allowing people to get into the country as a tourist and never leave. They're more reasons why the cost of living in CDMX is high and the bad news for you is the rents are going to keep going higher as politicians make bad decisions, demand & supply issues and world instability continues. So look at data from the inegi, investigate political decisions, etc before pointing fingers at some people.

@Tulu.Travels... Like #6... Hi 👋😊! Honey, let me tell you something: Here in México you can find much more food less expensive 🫰 at the Tianguis than the supermarkets like Walmart (even there are mexican supermarkets cheaper like Chedraui or Commercial Mexicana or Soriana). You can find an apartment cheaper in other zones of CDMX that are safe places to live nearby, Condesa and Roma Norte became more expensive for living. You can apply for a working visa, it's not so difficult... All you have to do is investigate, do your research... I hope your situation changes in a better way. You're welcome to live in México! Greetings from Zumpango Estado de México 🥹...

We can't even pay rent... We gain in pesos, not in dolars. I recomend you everyone who visit mexico city, open your eyes and see how local people lives. The problem of the expensive cost living is because of you guys. So, please, be more conscious and dont complain, you have a big privilege, so be gratfull for the oportunity you have. us prices probably in an urban area, she mentioned she is a very upscale area in mexico city which you do have to compare with major cities in the states. Now i dont live in a big city but i dont think 2400 for 3 bedroom apartment in the United State at a very upscale would be possible. I get it, its Latin America, but its also the biggest city in North america so yea, not a bad price. I do think if your living on savings with no actual stabled job, your best to avoid the upscale areas at all cost.

Mexican here, I think what you need to do in order to avoid the apartment cost rise, is to spread out to other neighborhoods, look for the place you like, don’t let the renter rise the price you originally saw in the advert just cause you are a foreigner, because it defeats the purpose of living in Mexico in the first place, btw the guy with “rosca de Reyes” bread told you “están grandotas” Which means “you’re biggies” or “you girls are tall and strong” if he would said “están gordas or gordotas” that means “you’re fat or fatties” and then said “you need to eat to stay that way” he didn’t mean it in an insulting way, he was very kind to you girls, enjoy Mexico.

I am looking into retiring in Mexico in the next couple of years. This bought me to your video. May I ask how you expected to earn an income, without a Visa❓I do not want to seem uncaring or mean, but this question is valid. Sorry Darek but both points you made are wrong. You can maintain dual citizenship, you don't have to relinquish your US citizenship. In the Fall of 2022 I obtained a Temporary Resident Visa through the legal economic solvency requirements that will switch to permanent resident status in three years and I am still a citizen of the US. I will then have the option of becoming a citizen of Mexico for voting purposes if I desire, either way I would still retain my citizenship in the US. She is not legally a temporary resident, she is living here as a tourist on a tourist permit lasting 180 days maximum. When that expires she will have to leave the country and then return with hopes getting another 180 day permit. BTW- I moved here from the LA/Ventura area of CA in December 2022 and now live and eat like a Rey (King) in Ensenada just over a mile to the beach on less than half of what she is paying for rent right now. I surfed for a couple hours this morning and had a healthy lunch consisting of three freshly caught and cleaned fish tacos con todo along with a liter of freshly squeezed organic orange, pineapple and coconut juice with banana all for less than $7.50us including a good tip served by smiling, friendly people who know my name. I am now about to doze off for a short siesta in my palm frond covered rooftop hammock with my cat in my lap watching the ocean and surf to the muffled sound of a mariachi concert coming from the harbor malecon off in the distance.... Buena suerte!

I think it’s important to have faith and I hope everything worked out for you. The remote job market is BRUTAL. It took me over a year to find a remote job that would allow me to work anywhere in the world. It has NEVER took me this long to find a job. So I don’t think you did anything wrong, it’s just the job market right now. The reason I was looking for a remote from anywhere job is so that I could relocate to Colombia. I’ve been there numerous of times within the past 2yrs and I am familiar with the area, culture and expenses. But the difficulty in this job market has encouraged me to get my Masters in a degree that would allow me to be a business owner and be completely remote.

Girl, let me tell you the problem that I personally think you're having.
You're still trying to live like an american in Mexico, where here you can find a lot of cheaper options in regards of food.
I just noticed that you cooked will all branded and wrapped up ingredients which is more expensive.
Try to look instead for "fruterias" nearby by, which is a local store that only sells fruits and vegetables. (It is cheaper than the market)
Also look for mexican meals like "huevos a la mexicana" o "picadillo" in youtube recipes.
If you have no job rn, use your time in a more frugal manner that way and you will save more money.
I'm a new mexican follower here, love your content and wish you the best.

That should be enough to last both of you for the length of a 180 day visitors permit. If you don't have an income from the US you will have to apply for and meet the requirements of at least a Temporary Resident Visa in order to work here legally. The minimum monthly income for a Temporary Resident Visa has gone way up for 2024, it is now $4,394.00us for at least the prior six months before applying at most Mexican Consulates in the US! If you want to work here you will get paid in pesos and the minimum wage in most of Mexico is $14.50us per day and goes up to $21.83 for the Free Zone of the Northern Border....that wasn't a typo, that is per day!
