He's short-circuiting the whole "how did a dweeb like you pull a chick like that" conversation in order to move on. He's had this on several interview shows. If he just gets to the punchline, he doesn't have to deal with 5 minutes of slowly eking out the "you should be grateful!" punchline.
(I mean, it's not really mysterious how they got together - he's very intelligent, she's very intelligent, obviously they link up somewhere other than the public's opinion of their fuckability)

David's answer about Victoria is obviously why she's with him. He seems like a smart, funny, and sweet guy. Most women would take that over the best looking guy in the world any day. It moves him up from an average guy to a great guy.

When he began to speak, I turned on auto captions, but didn't work until Jimmy began talking after Narstie finished. The captions were not capable of forming his dialect into words.

I'm glad you enjoy his banter, I'm not really a big fan of him, but I do enjoy the banter and contrast between an (what you might think as) uncultured rapper and a very well mannered posh person. That is the same contrast that you get with Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart.
I found out about David Mitchell and Big Narstie through the show "Would I Lie To You" which I'm a very big fan of - and I encourage you to check it out if you haven't already.

Youknow, I'm Dutch and I used to have a bit of trouble understanding Lee Mack, because of his accent. Whenever he was rambling.
It's fine now, I can even understand most of the complicated word-jokes.
But this....nothing prepared me for this English.
I'm from Scotland and you'd think because I'm on the same landmass I'd have some idea. Nope.

It's actually interesting to study Jimmy in the first minute or so where Narstie goes in on David about Victoria. Jimmy being great friends with them both, you can tell he was plotting on a viiiile burn to drop on Narstie if he went too far there, to stand up for his little David. Jimmy is a savage so you know it'd be a legendary one too, when he had to defend two friends at once in front of a big audience.
Yeah his body language looked he was ready to give savage put down but managed to keep it amiable. It was kinda sweet to see him behave like that.

out of all of David's works and performances, I have to say...There is none greater and more believable then the time he mimicked a turtle on an episode of Would I Lie To You. He was just absolutely made for that role.
And i'm sad it never really took off for him.
David is kinda playing up his shyness here for the comedy. He really isn't that shy. I read his book. He was a big actor in university and got plenty of theatre girls

Was it just me that found this uncomfortable af? I've never seen an episode so maybe it's unfair to judge a whole show on one clip, but i highly doubt i'll be watching more. This is really not my humour. There's teasing and then there's being rude, and for me, Narstie was _just_ toeing the wrong side of the line (even though it probably wasn't his intention to be rude). And they kept interrupting the guests? Isn't the whole point of guests, that you let them tell a story?
