Installed this the other day on my 2017 WRX. 2nd to third feels so good now it’s unbelievable. Great product. Oh and if you need help cutting the tabs. Use a Dremel and don’t be afraid to shave it down
Excellent, Perrin has found a good ambassador. Perrin makes good quality components that are well thought out and field tested. As I have DM you I have their initial 3 offerings for this shifter assembly upgrade. All rock solid components. There is not much worse than a sloppy shift mechanism. For the sake of 4 components in total a compromised OEM shifter is dramatically upgraded. I would also recommend their transmission mount as well too. Removing driveline movement gets more of your available BHP to the wheels.
Thanks a bunch, man! It took some work over the years but my WRX shifter assembly finally feels complete. I’ll have to look into the transmission mount next. I have a rear diff mount that I’ve yet to install so that should help out a bit too.
Just got a 2021 WRX and been watching all your vids. Love what you've done with the car. I'm thinking of getting the duckbill spoiler for mine - looks clean without being obnoxious
So the instructions at 3:57 show to cut into the two angled tabs. I just received my order '" Super Shifter Stop for 2018+WRX W/O Short Throw Shifter and it doesn't say anywhere to do that, is that just entirely for the Short shift setup?
Are you worried about the fact that the shifter rubs against the shifter stop? You can see the dust/shavings in the video caused by the two rubbing together going from 1st to 2nd. I noticed the same thing on mine.
Not so much. I’ve had the shift stop for five years without any issues. It’s probably just dust and debris from the install since I had to remove/install it for the video. If there were any shavings, they’ll get trapped in the grease.
i didnt even know a super shifter stop existed lol edit: i wonder if i have to re-align my already installed shifter stop. I can just slap one at a time?
Unfortunately, this didn't work for my setup which included the OEM short shifter, and Cobb shifter plate. I'm assuming because of the 35% reduction from the shifter plate that it makes the throws too short for it to come in contact with this. There was nothing on parents website that said it wouldn't work with a shifter plate installed. Thoughts?
Yes, sorry it didn’t work out for you. Perrin was very specific in mentioning that it works only with the OEM shifter/ OEM shifter plate, it’s posted on their site.
@@ronfromportland Huh. Must of missed it. I emailed back and forth with Jeff Perrin and he didn't deny that it wasn't posted there. Maybe they added it after we communicated. He said they are considering working on a solution for those with shifter plates.
Hey Ron, great vid man, always good seeing new and interesting mods that I may or may not need :) Haven't modded mine yet, having too much fun driving it as is :)
@@ronfromportland Actually I am thinking of getting one of those grimmspeed dry air filters, that you just replace the stock filter with. Seems like a good entry level mod :)
Does this get rid of that plastic clicky sound when going into 3rd gear. It’s annoying the shit out of me. Only happens in 3rd and it’s loud. I’ve ruled out the reverse lockout click as I have heard that but was fixed with the Perrin shift knob
I don’t think mine ever had the clicking sound into 3rd, if it did then I most likely never noticed it. If you’re referring to the rattle that’s caused by the loose reverse lockout on some WRXs, mine had that. Super annoying. The Perrin shift knob with the anti-rattle adapter fixed my issues though. th-cam.com/video/pMA-QRSQRNQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OkUQjywN0EUoChYm
Hey Ron! I have the Perrin shifter stop already installed on my car. If I were to purchase this add on, will it come with another shifter stop too? Or just the red pieces?
I currently have boomba shift stop for 2022 and I just ordered Perrin. Anyone else have problem when that round piece on shaft of shifter goes over the stop when going to first or second?
I just attempted to install on my 2020 WRX and I measured twice and cut once making sure there was play in all gear stops 1-6. However when I went to test drive, 2 gear was obviously not engaging. I attempted to adjust it 5 or 6 different times to allow for more space for 2nd gear to engage but I failed to find it. Car is completely stock. I ended up just taking the entire assembly out. Any ideas why this would happen?

Pretty slick. Got the DM-2 shifter otw or else I would think about adding this one on to my existing shift stop. How's the rebuilt turbo doing?
Thanks man! The WRX is fixed. 500 miles later and running fine! th-cam.com/video/-WCuUJ4-Vfo/w-d-xo.html

Does the original shift stop smooth out 1-2 shift? Sometimes if I shift it fast it feels like a bag of rocks. Feels like I’m going to break something
Yes, it did for mine 🙌

@@waynelaw7072 you probably moved the left piece too far to the right when re-installing. This would prevent 2nd gear from engaging.
thank for the video now im definitely purchasing for my car now 🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍👍👍
That’s what’s up man! You won’t regret it 🔥
Pretty cool mod, hopefully they sell it as a set that way those like myself who don’t have that brand shifter stop can try it out. Great video homie!
I gotchu man! www.perrin.com/shop/shifters/shifter-stop
@@ronfromportland heck yeah my guy appreciate it.
Another slick mod.
Thank you 🔥
Does this work for a 2021 premium wrx?
Yes, as long as you have the OEM Shifter, STI Short Shifter, or PERRIN Short Throw Shifter/Shifter Plate 👍
What’s the difference between this and a short throw shifter?
Short throw changes the entire shifter assembly. This just prevents shifter slop
So it only works with Perrin shift stop but can I use it with the Perrin shift stop and a billetworkz short throw kit
Nope, it only works with the Perrin Short Throw, Stock, or STI short throw shifter.
does the 4th gear still shakes when gas pedal is press or let go after the install?
On mine it still slightly does. There’s a TSB for it but I never bothered to get it done.
@@ronfromportland thanks 🫡🫡
Does it get rid of the 4th gear rattle?
It’s reduced but it doesn’t get rid of it. That’s a separate issue though. There’s a TSB for it but I never bothered to get it done.
What happens if your running the Perrin short shifter?
Should be the same, overall. Just tighter tolerances when it comes to the lateral movement.
I have a Bomba short shifter. Will this still work?
No, it only works with the stock, STI short shifter, or Perrin short shifter.
where can i get a tuner in portland the something around there?
Surgeline or PRE Racing
Would this work with 2019 sti?
Nope, only for the WRX. Y’all already have the better transmission 😃
A shame you didn’t show shaving that crucial part but good video though
I didnt even shave mine lmao. Guess i should do that
Can use that on bomba shifter??
I don’t think so. I did it to mine but there’s no play and sometimes wont go into gear
Does anyone know if this will work on a 2016 WRX STI?
WRX only for now
Why does my premium 2021 has a sti shift knop? Is anything different in my wrx?
Gotta check your paperwork, it might have an STI short throw shifter. There’s no way for me to know though.
@@ronfromportland how car I check? What would I be looking for?
@@jugado219 can always call your dealer and give them your vin to see what your setup is. I don’t know how to be able to visually tell.
Will it work with boomba short shift?
Nope, only the Perrin one or stock.
@@ronfromportlandi installed it on my 18 wrx with boomba short shifter and works perfectly fine 🔥
