Los Angeles Clean Streets Operations - Homeless Encampments Pt. 3

  • Part 3 of this humanitarian crisis. Sad part is this isn’t just happening in LA, its happening throughout a good chunk of California. For those who aren’t aware, the city decided that encampments shouldn’t be torn down, but they now service the individuals by collecting their trash of choice. Shame on California and it’s politicians for letting this crisis spew out of control. It’s going to take a lot to fix this, but I guess that’s the reason we choose to leave it alone.

    I am just shocked of how there are so many homeless encampments there are in LA. 2 or 3 years ago we didn’t even see any encampments. Let’s hope that this crisis will soon be solved in a civilized way. Nice video.

      2 or 3 years ago this was still a problem but never this bad, I would give a time frame of almost 10-15 years ago when it wasn’t a “bad” problem. Thanks Nic

      No problem. Yea I didn’t think this would be as bad, you know ever since this homeless problem started, it involves a ton trash in the streets and sidewalks, and that’s the basic problem in the homeless problem. Ever since it started, I would always think of the sign board on the trucks that say Keep Los Angeles Beautiful, and I would always hope that LA would keep doing that goal for as long LA stands during these times. And think that’s would LA should keep doing, is to Keep Los Angeles Beautiful. You know what I’m saying.

    That’s just crazy the people leaving at the encampments chose what’s getting thrown away. Garcetti better start thinking of solutions soon. Really nice truck though LA made the right decision getting those trucks. The packer was also really good at keeping up with all the junk. Must be nice to having to move so much when the truck is at one continuous stop. Really great video and thanks for showing what the clean streets operation is doing.

      Garcetti has twisted this situation so much that I doubt we’ll get any solutions until we get another mayor in 2022. These trucks get the job done so efficiently, I hope they get even more for this program. Thanks for the comment Jakob!

    This problem is happening in several large cities, it honestly makes me very sad and I think the local governments can take more action to help these people.

    Who knew a video of a garbage truck would show so much about the state of the city. At least they are acknowledging there’s a problems, and attempting to clean it up in some way. I think carts that they find there they should just leave there, I’m sure it’s much more cost effective and efficient for an asl in the area to dump 2 or 3 carts a week than what looks to be a 30 man multi agency operation. A few questions, not sure if you know the answer. Are those cops on standby for all of these cleanups? When they dump all the bags out into the hopper are they going through them looking for hazardous materials to pick out? Does this happen daily, or is this a “special event” type of deal? Nice work on the video!

    • @northcentralrefuse4485
      @northcentralrefuse4485  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never would I have ever imagined it would be like this, but here we are. I think it’s great they’re reaching out in a sanitation aspect, but it should be much more than that. I believe they take the cans since they could become infectious. The cops are at every single cleanup due to some homeless/transients taking their frustrations out on the crews and getting physical. They’re also there to make sure the homeless are complying with orders by the city issued days before. Yes they go through the bags to make sure hazardous materials don’t go into the truck, the materials go to a hazardous materials center also known as the S.A.F.E center. These cleanups and special services happen every single day in pretty much all areas of the city lol. Thanks for the comment!

    Oh I should mention that now a days Santa Monica is just as dreary and dangerous as Venice beach. Crazies litter everywhere even the Pier. For the time being and as to how things are turning, second amendment rights have to stay. But humanitarian crisis aside, the New Way body always looks great in LABOS green. But what was being placed in the white buckets? Infectious materials? Anyways great video as usual and the bulk waste always makes for awesome videos.

      In one of them there were putting in hazardous waste. Like a small propane tank

      The sad part is I’m not even surprised about those small beach cities, and I have the perfect picture in my head about it. The white buckets are used to sort out hazardous materials and anything infectious. Thanks for commenting Stuart!

      They are looking for hazardous materials that don’t belong in the truck. They have a hard job, and that’s what makes them heroes in my eyes.

    I've seen villages in Mexico that started like this and eventually the people were able to make semi permanent homes. I wonder why the people would chose the location they did? Not much of a view. The sidewalks and street must not be owned by anyone, or by everyone so they can do what ever they want? Seems that this would be true in Pasadena as well, far nicer 10 miles away.
