My son is obsessed with garbage trucks

That truck is FULL people.
Actually the truck is fairly empty.
The packer crushes the load up against a moveable, hydraulically operated ‘wall’. When the truck is virtually empty the ‘wall’ is positioned towards the back of the truck. As the truck fills with garbage the wall is inched forwards to make more room, usually automatically when the packer has difficulty packing into the truck.
When the wall can’t go any more forwards (to the front of the truck) the compactor is full and the same hydraulically operated wall is used to eject the garbage at the dump.
You can see the ejector plate and the hydraulic ram I mention as the truck drives by 0:08
N.B. On this truck the ejector plate has to be inched forward manually when the operators can hear the packer having trouble or I guess when the hydraulics `trip' (the hydraulic sytem will include a safety relief valve to protect the pump & associated pipework)..

We had those in my town in the UK purely for the small narrow streets. The Council got shot of them as they don't hold much.
Dainty little truck ?? It's a 6x4 26 tonne, most uk trucks are 6x2 26 tonne . Some 8x4 32 tonne in densely populated areas with wheelie bins but they are the exception not the rule .
good video. At 0:35 they should have ran the compactor first and then carefully place the glass lamp in the bottom and cover with larger items to prevent broken glass flying out. They basically fought that stupid glass lamp and flying glass the whole time- waste of energy, needless hazard and broken glass left behind. I did this job for a summer in college- always address the glass first- much less clean up needed.

Vivo en Guayaquil -Ecuador y me duele ver tantas cosas en buen estado siendo destruidas. Acá uno las arregla de mil formas. acabo de ver una linda bicicleta y mi súper campeón de ciclismo mundial Richard Carapaz se inició de la basura que su papá recolectaba, entre esa chatarra estaba su primera bicicleta sin asiento sin ruedas lo que lo hace un triunfador. I have one question here, I am not sure what state of Australia this is filmed in but shouldn’t all that cardboard be going into a household recycle bin? In Tasmania I think we get 2 registered hard waste days per year, a yellow recycle bin for cardboard and plastics fortnightly, general waste bin weekly and a green waste bin fortnightly. It seems to me a lot of unnecessary recyclables are going to the tip/dump in this state.
In this state in this city they used to seperate it, now with the demand of garbage and recycling being so high, they have just been sending bulky waste to landfill as sometimes it is all rotten and combined together anyway, the occasional scrappers will come by but not that often anymore
@@TheAustralianGarbologist Most of that is metal and electrical. In the UK its illegal to send electrical items to landfill and metal has a scrap value. All wood goes off to incinerators for energy production.

Why shouldn‘t they be allowed, this is just normal clean up collection, RL are specifically made for crushing big objects like this.
Ah because back in the day for Campbelltown they used to make us get our big things recycled in a way if that makes sense
