This bowl has flared rim with a brick pattern. The designer of this bowl is Carole Rothman. I did not have on hand the same material that she used. She used spated sycamore for the main body and teak for the lines. I used poplar for the main body and a darker unknown wood for the lines. On the second cut I used the incorrect angle and had to remake the blank after scavenging material. There was about a week in between and did not have as good a blank as the original. That is not a gap or hole in the floor of the bowl but a spot I had to fill to get it level. It looked better after finishing. Not real happy with it but the shaping turned out pretty good. All in all a good learning experience.
You should get a mop sander along with the inflatable sander
Been thinking about that, may give it a try
I wish I could learn from my mistakes as easy 😔😔
Beautiful piece of wood 💖💖
Thank you
Beautiful! The first time you do something it is the HARDEST. I wish that someday soon I can do something as BEAUTIFUL.
Thank you, there was a time I would not even consider such a project. Just keep on working and learning.
Your bowl making is certainly becoming impressive. Maybe one day I will give the bowl making a go. Thanks for sharing
Thank you. I am enjoying it and I think I am improving
Fantastic looking bowl, i enjoy watching your bowl making
Thank you very much!
It's called artistic, creative freedom. Yours is every bit as nice as hers. Just different. You have become a master "bowler".
Thank you
As always what a fantastic video, I always look forward to your lessons thanks .
Thank you
Thank you again for sharing. You are really helping me learn.
I am glad I am helping, thanks for watching.
Another great looking bowl.
Thank you
Beautiful bowl
Thank you
How many hours of sanding were required? Total time for the project?
Building the blank and cutting is about an hour total (not counting time for glue to set for each step of the blank build). Sanding is about another hour and a half. So about 2 1/2 hours just doing the work, spread out over a couple of days. Waiting for glue to set on the bowl rings and base is at least another 45 minutes.
Love to know about the cover photo for video, but thanks for sharing. Live your work.
