    Been to Tiger Tail several times. I crossed the Lagoon every time. The first time I was a bit leery but it wasn't bad at all. The floor of the lagoon was a bit squishy, so my grown children were not fans of it. I have been there when it was above my waist and I'm 6'2". But it was well worth the hike. Not overly populated as you walk north up the beach. Beautiful with lots of shells. Thanks for taking us there!!

    Love every beach time with you every Sunday ! This is my last night in Cuba and I am overjoyed with all the amazing shells I found this week thanks to you I know what to look for and where to look ! Every morning I went to the beach and found so many olives, stunning white and yellow knobby conches, a chestnut turban, cereths, turkey wings, 3 sundials, keyhole limpids, calico clams and scallops and many I don’t even know their names ! It was the most amazing shelling week for me and I thank you so much for everything you thought me through the videos about all the shells ! My collection will be so much better now ! ❤️🐚🏖😎

    I just got back from the Oregon Coast ... Seaside to be precise. Wonderful weather and oodles of Pacific sand dollars. Brought home about 150 ... left three times that many laying along the shore. I clean them up, drill a hole through the top, paint beachey scenes on them, then string a bright ribbon through the hole ... ornaments!!
    I am always loving your virtual shelling adventures ... been hope you'd find a baby's ear. Those are so sweet.
    Thanks, again !!

    Hi Sharmon,
    Sorry for my late reaction, had to go to the ER and after that I was exhausted.
    What a beautiful day to go shelling! Those storm clouds were really impressive. But I was glad that they stayed at sea and didn't came closer.
    For me, your find of the day was definitely that shark eye with all the different colours on it. What a beauty!😍
    Can't wait to see your adventure going on a private shelling tour!
    Think it was amazing.
    Wishing you a wonderful week, filled with love and happiness, and of course amazing shells!

    Hi Sharmon I just got back from Sanibel last night. My daughter and her dad got there on Friday September 9th. We got out to the beach around 5 pm and within 15 minutes my daughter found a Junonia shell. We have been going to SI for 20 plus years and have never seen this shell or even a piece of one. It is probably around 3 inches. There was a harvest moon so the tide was very high. We picked up a lot of trash because of the storm that came in. I kept telling my daughter about everything you have taught us in your videos. She has started following you on IG. We found a bunch of shells this year. It was a great vacation and are already planning another trip for next year.

    I love watching you pick up the pretty shells. I wish I was there too! My Uncle lives in Tarpon Springs, Florida and always would send me shells. He would also Scuba dive, and dolphins would come up to him and play with him! My Aunt (his wife) had told me to be careful in the shallows . Not just sharks but not to step on rays. I did visit Florida a few times and I love it but not the heat. On one of my visits, I even saw an injured shark near the beach. In shops, the used to sell baby sharks in a dyed blue formaldehyde solution as a souvenir! Very sad! It’s mostly banned nowadays. I hope so. It’s so heartbreaking. Oh, have you ever found a Junonia shell. It’s a rare prize for any collector. They sell for high prices.

    So this past Tuesday, I went to Marco Island and headed out around the two jetties to the hot spot. I went at low tide and whew…it was not for the faint of heart. I managed to get there but it was pretty deep and I was alone. Probably not my best decision but oh my, the shells!!! I hit the Florida fighting conch jackpot. Next time I’ll try to hit it at negative low tide if I’m in the area, or by kayak. Marco is my favorite by far I think!

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have only been able to see Tigertail and that South end since there is only 2 public parking lots on the entire island. That south end is INSANE if you can get there! Negative low tide is definitely better as you can spend more time searching before you have to get around the jetty again. I wish there was more parking so I could see more of the beach down there!

      I do think the cut into the lagoon behind it left some bay-loving critters out on the gulf. There is a spot on the Gulf on FMB that I find the crowns too. It's interesting to see where they will turn up! I know there are some backwaters behind Bowman's that they like to inhabit as well.

    OH, THANK YOU!! How I miss Marco & Tigertail. It's my go to vacation spot, unfortunately, I've not made it there since 2019. Love this beach and all of the goodies you can find. I've never found an Angel Wing, so it's on my bucket list. As you went to grab it though, I didn't see it. I saw what looked like a True Tulip just to the right of it. Am I wrong? It's at 25:08 min. I thought maybe you'd go back and grab it too, but the very next wave washed it out of sight. The Angel Wing is a great find though. As for the Lagoon, it has been much deeper. With the new cut out in the beach, the overall depth of the Lagoon may be shallower. My first trip there, in 2009, we walked thru when it was chest high. Had to hold things over our heads. I've kyacked the Lagoon, in 2015, almost to the open ocean. It's too shallow to do that anymore. That area keeps changing. Also, beware, there are grasses that grow from the bottom and it can be quite mushy under your feet. Just a warning. The Condo's, just to the right of where you walked out of the Lagoon, are the South Seas Northwest. It's the only place I've ever stayed. ALL 2 bed, 2 bath 1000-1100 sq ft. Very nice! I'm praying I get to come down this November and make my first trip over to Dickman's and Kice Island! I've been to Keewaydin a few different times and it's nice too. Thank you for sharing with all of us who can't get there like we'd like too.

      You sure do know the area! And that true tulip was only a piece, so I let it get washed out to sea. I don't think I'd cross the lagoon as chest height. I'm a little brave but not THAT brave 😂 And you are going to love Dickman's and Kice islands. They are just so pretty and wow can they have spectacular shells! I hope you are able to make it back down here to your home away from home soon!

      @@SWFBeachLife Yes! It's delicious and the staff are really nice! I like that they don't have a liquor license so all they serve is lots of different kinds of beer and some wine. I don't drink so im glad they are catering to a family atmosphere and tourists. When my parents took me to Florida as a child, the Mucky Duck made a great impression on me. Life got pretty hard after our last trip to Florida as my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, I was only six years old. I'm 55 now. So the Mucky Duck is a landmark in my life's time line...
      Like the nutmeg shell, my mom found one when we were shelling and she made it into a necklace for me after we got back to MN. I wish I knew what ever happened to it. So the nutmeg is special to me as well. Any of the very few pre Parkinson's days are valuable.
      Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you,

    I love your Sunday shelling! I have learned the names of most shells. My husband and I were in Sanibel this past week. For September we did quite well with shelling. I think we found everything you have except a sand dollar. We saw one live one. Had a fantastic time. Four days of pure shelling heaven. I didn’t protect myself from the No See Ums. So I’ve spent the weekend using multiple treatments to stop the itch. They didn’t make my husband itch, why me? What is the best spray to use for future trips? Thank you for all of your shared knowledge. And which water shoes are your favorite? Thanks!

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's been really quite good in the shelling department of summer and I'm glad you were able to take advantage of it too! Oh those miserable bugs - I use an all natural bug spray - I think it's actually called No Seeums that I picked up from a store down here. They are miserable! And I will be trying a new pair of shells shoes soon, but currently these are my go to ones: amzn.to/3wIwanv
      They aren't perfect but they work!
