Oh Laura you knew I needed me some Kice Island. I cannot wait to get there. I think I told you before when I was there due to the limited time, I wanted to sit in piles of the crushed shells and just hunt tinies but not there long enough ,so I took a 2 gallon zip loc and filled it with the crushed shells. I had such a blast at hm going thru that big bag. So fun. Going to do that again in Sept. I so enjoyed this video! Thanks girl! Hugs!

Hi beautiful! I am down here and having the time of my life! My first times shelling. Took a tour with Richard and Christy of Treasure Seekers out to Dickman's and also drove up to Casperson this week. My sister and I will be spending a day out on Keewayden on March 1st. Don't know where else she plans to take me. We did deal with a little bit of red tide coughing at Casperson. I am using all the information I have learned from watching your videos and they have helped me immensely. Hope to fit Kice in as well as a few more. I am hooked!!!! {{Shelling hugs}}

Was just on Marco last month. The shelling was amazing. I could not believe it. Found bucket list shells and lots of them. More shells on Marco then I ever found on Sanibel

at 5:14 the animal inside the seashell has dried up for the most part and hasn't decayed. The shell is the freshest quality you can get, and I recommend soaking it in sea water, let it become softer, and then carefully scoop it out with a small pocket knife. Those remnants are not a reason to be put off; I've cleaned some really bad fresh water mussels and even that was rewarding in the end.
that stage of decay though is one of the worst, when they just start to dry up, they start to stick to the shell. so even if you're able to pull out the mollusk, there will still be slime and remnants that will wreak your entire way home and stink up your whole shell bag (and car). #beenthere!
@@virtualshelling you speak the truth ! When I was a kid, a friend had brought me a dead horseshoe crab...GAG My SOUL !!!
They had tied it up in bread bags...My Mom wouldn't let it in the house. It hung in a shed for what felt like my whole H.S. years, ha ha ! It did lose the stink, but then a mouse chewed it up. Wish I had known more at the time !. I love your channel ! 🐟🐚🐡❣
There are literally hundreds of fine specimens that aren’t filled with rotting mollusks. Nature did all the work cleaning and delivering them and will do the same for the recently deceased ones

Have you ever had any success shelling near Anna Maria Island.
Hi Jill! I have only ever been to Anna Maria island to ride my horse years ago. I didn't go shelling, but there wasn't much other than sand on the beach at the time. I'm sorry I cant be of more help! I do know the further north you go, the less shells there tends to be.
I’ll be on Marco Island in the next few weeks. What are the costs for transportation to Dickman’s and/or Kice?
That's exciting you'll have such a great time! The shuttle that used to run no longer does, so you'd have to take a shell tour or rent a boat. Taking a tour is my recommendation! You'll have to check with them on pricing! Have fun and Happy Shelling!
If the creature is still in the shell and it is dead can't you boil it outside on the barbeque till it comes out of the shell?
No, if you boil them alive it causes the animal to come out of the shell. If you boil them when they're dead, then you're just cooking the meat. You can still pull it out, but you'll need to make sure you get ALL of it out, as if any remnants are left way up inside the shell, it will decay.
