      Hello Maddie! That dark scallop sits oiled up in my glass cabinet (I did superglue the hairline crack from the back and it’s perfectly together now). Have a fantastic week and happy shelling! 😍🐚

    Gorgeous beach! Surprised by how much seaglass there was too. I live in the Canadian Maritimes and visiting Floridians often tell us there's no seaglass on their beaches.

    • @FloridaBeachWalks
      @FloridaBeachWalks  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well in general they are correct. Most FL beaches do not yield glass. You got to know which beaches have glass (leaning the history of an area helps too as most glass is old and of course from trash). I live on the east coast of FL and have been to several beaches often enough to know which have glass (joining local glassing groups on Facebook helps too)…out of several beaches I go to only a handful have glass 👍🏼 the west cost has spots more up towards Tampa area with glass but not to much or any glass in SWF from my personal experience.

    Please tell me you did not collect that coral piece?????

    • @FloridaBeachWalks
      @FloridaBeachWalks  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No that I just picked up to record. I own no coral 🪸 I have become aware of the Florida Coral laws passed. If you look in the videos description you’ll see a link to an article about those laws and if looking at this video on a mobile device (not in full screen mode) you’ll actually see a link that pops up on the screen to that article. Any video I post that has coral pictured at the end w/my shell finds has a disclaimer that “coral has been returned to ocean”. Thx for your concern-keep spreading the word 👍🏼 I spoke on the phone with Lane Garrett with the FWC Marine Fishery Management, I told him they really need that law on beach signs-just like they post “no live shelling” a coral blurb needs to be in conjunction with that. He actually said he will put that in for a formal request! Only time will tell 👍🏼

      @FloridaBeachWalks I have only in the last couple of months heard about being illegal to collect coral in FL.
      So I do have some that I collected over the years without knowing, should I return it to the ocean now or is it to late? It was already dead.

    • @FloridaBeachWalks
      @FloridaBeachWalks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@tinatodd3522 I'm in the same boat as you are as in learning about this law as of recently. The law was pasted in 2009 and I only learned about it early April from a viewer post from a comment on one of @swfbeachlife videos (thank heavens!). I personally returned ALL to the ocean; so that is a decision you'll have to make. I'll be admiring from the beach only and just take photos/videos there. The law does include dead stony coral. Apparently the dead coral lends to a substrate for future coral to populate on as one of the reasons. I post this article in any video with coral as to just spread the word. It's a good read on explaining the laws around corals and reefs. florida-beaches-info.com/can-you-take-dead-coral-from-florida-beaches/

    Art on a board please, not a live tree! Maybe a part of a wooden fence? Save the trees!
