same, but beat the final boss with 2 hp left, had an interesting run where my energy and cards don't get discarded each turn, and I exhausted everything but heavy hitting attacks so was pretty much a race to not die
If you don’t use endless agony it will be placed into your discard pile and when u cycle through your deck you will draw it again and thus multiplying endless agony

Everytime endless agony is drawn it creates another copy, so if you use just one, the one that you didnt use will be redrawn and give you an addittional. This works well with choke and relics that require you to play multiple cards in one turn. I like going strong on poison, and found that pairing it with high defense works quite well. Youre awesome. Loving this series.
- Poison ticks apply after armor is dropped, so if the enemy has 3 HP and 3 Poison and 10000000 Armor, it still dies. - In one instance against the 3 louse(lice?) enemies, one of the lice had 4 Armor and 2 HP. Your Strikes does 6 Damage. You could've killed that lice and armor'ed one time. Which would've saved you one damage and killed the other lice when it hit you. - Energy for both characters are represented differently, so they were both energy. - Thing about the Blob enemies when they split is if you deal even more damage to them after they get confused, the base health of each blob mirrors the remaining HP. You could've used your 0 cost 3 damage Weaken card to reduce each split blob's max HP by 3 each. This would've made killing the first blob you hit immediate. On a side note regarding that, you could've Shiv'ed the first blob also to kill it afterwards. There was no point in just discarding the Shiv at the time. I would have tried rolling the Poison Flask to see how lucky you were regarding it, and then using your 0 cost Attack cards on the healthier blob afterwards. - You made some great decisions in the Guardian fight! Choosing to not attack during his defensive stage was a great choice! Some minor misplays of some card usages, but since you heal to full going to the next floor, it was not a big deal! Also, your choice of reward card of After Image and the Specimen relic were great choices!

The series of events at 9:22 had me laughing out loud. You completely abandoned the "take no damage" strategy and went nuts haha. That's exactly how I play these games too.
Quick tip NL, regarding the decisions at 16:00, poison kills enemies through their armour - so if poison is about to kill a dude (i.e. their health bar is completely green), you don't need to take their armour out for it to work.
The formula you're looking for for poison is x poison deals (x^2 + x) / 2. It's sort of similar to the formula for area of a right isosceles triangle just with the added factor of x/2 to account for the fact that poison damage is a step function instead of continuous.
I had an amazing deck/build with the Silent once. It was like every pick up I got meshed with the playstyle, which was surprising _not_ centered around poison, but card draw. Basically I had the relic that gives you Shivs at the start of combat, plus the card that gives you one every turn, the relic that boosts your strength as you play cards, and so I basically just played every card in my hand every turn and kept getting stronger as each battle went on. It was nice. It's the only time I've made it to the 3rd map.
Watching the incredible amount of misplays that he tries to logic his way through is so hard lol. He is so bad at these kinds of things, but its still entertaining at least :D
I'm loving this game and your videos of it!! Just a tip: poison ignores any block, so if enemies have 2 HP and you applied 3 poison on them, they'll die next turn even if they have block.

I love green man. He's so good. You've never felt satisfaction in this game until you've killed a boss monster with 200 HP with a double skill up triple catalyst 60 poison damage tick. I ended up poisoning a boss with 120 poison per turn. It was glorious.
NL, I believe the math for poison damage is n^2+n/2 where n is the amount of poison damage stacked. Note, this would be the total damage so if you want to calculate it for lets say 3 tuns you will have to subtract the remaining damage which is the same formula for n-->n-3. Or just do it the easy way by adding n+n-1+n-2....

Hello NL, I'd like to pass along the advice that you do not need to worry about poison damage being blocked by armor otherwise it is overkill. The damage done by poison is still direct to the enemy albeit not during your turn. Thanks for the video and I'd love to see you succeed as a fellow Slay the Spire player.
NL i believe you think exhaust means after it leaves your hand its gone, but it only disapears if you use it. so that agony card you can stack agonies and have a lot of them by just drawing them and not playing them. and you do not have to play backstab your first turn. if you dont play an exhaust card it just gets discarded until you do play it
NL, Endless agony can be used, get this, ENDLESSLY.....if you keep 1 and let it go back into your deck, so you can draw 2 more when you get it back, or you can get a ton and dupe them by letting both go back into your deck
OK time for quick maths. So if you want add up a sequence of numbers let us take 1 through 4. To do this quickly you add up ends 1+4=5 2+3=5 therefor 1+2+3+4=10. For longer sequences let us say 1 through 10 you do more ore less the same 1+10=11 now you cont the number of numbers and divide by 2. 10/2=5. Then you take the end number 11 then take the mid point number 5 and multiply them. 11*5=55 so therefor 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10=55. You can do this easy trick for any sequence no matter the length.
"It was gold, not energy" NL.... NL is really good at making you wanna buy a game, cause you wanna do it better. Was what made me buy Hollow Knight and that was my GOTY for sure.
Probably the best change they could make to this game at the present moment would be to make it so that attacks that also apply debuffs don't apply the negative effect if they don't pierce armor. Individual debuffs with no attack included pierce block, but combo attacks don't. Additionally, the difficulty curve from floor 1 to floor 2 with no max health or pure stats upgrades is incredibly difficult, and takes hours of grinding for unlocks, so that should be fixed. Even on floor one, the difficulty gaps between bosses is super large, like Boss Slime vs. the robot thingy that annihilates you in a couple turns. It's like the Haunt vs. Monstro.
Love the series here are a few tips you missed: 1: poison ignores armour. So in the one fight you wasted a few cards when you had lethal with the poison. 2: when you were fighting those weird worm things and they used armour, you could have used stike and poison for lethal instead you armoured and took damage. 3: in the other character it was energy not gold. Energy just looks different for each character. This one is a green triangle, the other is an orange circle. 4: you missed a chiv play at the end and it bugged me...that's all:p Keep up the good work :)
endless agony is one of the best combo cards I have found. If you do not use it, you double it again, and again, and again... bosses get rekt as long as you draw enough cards :D

Hey NL, you don't always have to take a card when given the choice. If none of the cards go well in your deck then it might be better to just skip the cards. That way you can get to your good cards faster. Love the series so far btw. I have been playing a lot since your Lets Look At.

The equation you are looking for is n*(n+1)/2, meaning if you do 5 poison, it'll be 5*6/2 which is 15 damage.

Probably someone already wrote it down but, the poison "Addtorial" is a normal sum from 1 to n.
SUM n = n(n+1)/2
For 4 poison, 4*5/2 = 10 total damage
As a mathematician, I can tell NL that the formula for the sum, or as they call it in Vancouver, sumtorial, is 1/2 * x * (x+1) or (x^2+x)/2
I wouldn't mind having the whole run uploaded as a single episode.

Poison is a arithmetic sequence, you can lookup the formulae for it.

the "sumtorial" you were talking about is actually called a summation or sigma it uses the greek E and x=whatever with units of x's

Hey Eggman, if you have a 0 cost card that does not exhaust, USE IT! For example, at 23:49 you had a shiv that could have killed that slime for free
NL luck transferring from Isaac into StS. The egg got both strong poison relics which makes poison super op and great crowd control

Endless agony seems like it could be good if you discard it to add multiple copies when you reshuffle discard pile back
The math term for an 'addition version of a factorial' is the 'nth triangle number' i think.

Hey NL, you don't always have to take a card when given the choice. If none of the cards go well in your deck then it might be better to just skip the cards. That way you can get to your good cards faster. Love the series so far btw. I have been playing a lot since your Lets Look At.
I believe a summation factorial would be an nth triangular number...so it could be written using Sigma Notation.
I'm pretty sure the poison sumtorial is actually [(n * n/2) + n/2], you were surprisingly close. I only checked it with a few numbers but it seems to work
