Hi Laura! I came across your page from Dr. Berry on my “suggested for you”. I hit keto flu today, and I’m struggling. I am starting to feel like I want to stop the diet, but I know this is only temporary. Do you have any suggestions? I ate a piece of bread with peanut butter and now I’m scared I just completely ruined my ketosis stage 😢

I just got my blood test results as a 75 year old female. I’ve never had these issues with my past blood tests. Wasn’t happy with:
      Cholesterol-299 (bad)
      LDL - 198 (bad)
      Non HDL - 225 (bad)
      TRIGLYCERIDES - 129 (good)
      What am I missing?!
      Take out cheeses an eggs?
      Help!

I am diabetic and OMAD raises my sugar too high due to too much protein all in one meal. The fix was to split the protein into two meals and a snack all within a six hour window.

I’ve been a carnivore since June 20 of this year and I am so blessed to be at that point where I can eat one meal a day. I feel amazing and thank God I found this diet. I will never go back. I’m loving it. It’s changed my life.

Part of what makes OMAD work is being fat-adapted. If your body can fall back on its own stores for energy, you're not gonna get hungry. If you're new to carnivore, or you're still doing cheat days, you're going to wake up STARVING. If I touch a vegetable or sneak a cracker from my kid, I will absolutely wake up ravenous the next day. Being fat-adapted is essential to appetite control and getting through the rest of the day.

Thank you both. After three years of mostly strict carnivore, I recently did the forbidden calorie count and realized I wasn't eating enough, which explains a lot for me. I'm now eating three meals between 8:30AM and 4:30 PM. It's a bit work-intensive, but not too bad. I've already started sleeping better after only a few days. Thanks for the tips, clarifications and encouragement. ❤

I now KNOW I have been undereating doing OMAD! Yikes! Thanks for the eye-opener. I noticed that my bowels slowed way down in the process and I really didn’t feel as well. Plus, many years ago, I suffered from an eating disorder and I noticed that the same thought patterns were starting to emerge. When I started adding an additional meal, after 3 days, my digestion improved and the scale dropped 6 pounds. Who’d a thunk it?!? 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

Dr. Shawn Omara eats (4) days per week.
    He feast for (3).
During his Feasting days he eats 3-5 pounds of meat.
So on a weekly average he is eating 1-2# per day.
This is just an example of how we are different.

I don’t count calories, usually do 2MAD, sometimes OMAD. I eat when hungry, stop when full. Try to stick to a 18-6 timeframe. Remember this 2,000 recommended calories come from the same people that brought us the SAD, and food pyramid.

I was eating 3 meals a day, and I've recently started your trick of 2 different meats with dinner. For about the last month (almost 5 months carnivore), I haven't really wanted any lunch. I have been having to eat some peanuts to control oxalate dumping and started doing that around lunchtime. As soon as I'm able to stop the peanuts (45g down from 60g so far), I'm pretty sure I'll be a 2 meals a day carnivore.

We took a 62 year old male, 6f2
Swolen prostate. Found his d3 was 31, and his T was 302. Gave him 20,000 iu d3 daily, orally for 3 weeks and 20,000 iu daily on his scrotum.
After 3 weeks another blood test.
D3 was now 125 and testosterone is now 767. We also had him on beef organ capsules and saw palmeto.

I’ve been OMAD low carb for 6 years and OMAD carnivore since January 1st, I’m 100% like Chris your husband I have always been able to eat enough at one meal to last me. I was never officially a diabetic but I was developing metabolic issues in my 40’s (now 58 years young) just like my father but I addressed them through diet and exercise. I never count calories or weigh food I just eat til fully satisfied and the great thing about carnivore is even if I’m stuffed the next morning I feel lean! Unlike with carbs when I gorged the night before I’d gain weight be gassy and bloated, horrible. Now after 8 months OMAD carnivore I’m down to the weight I was 20 years ago when I did the Ironman triathlon without have to do the 20 hr training weeks!

If I eat leaner meat I crave fat the next day.

I’m not carnivore yet, but starting soon. I eat keto and have been eating OMAD for about three years. I do it for the same reasons Chris mentioned in the video, ie I would be eating three times the amount of food if I ate three times a day. I do, however, find a lot of vegetables make me ill, so will be starting carnivore next week after my birthday celebrations, as we have a number of meals out planned this week. Looking forward to feeling even better than I do now (having reversed T2D, NAFLD, hypertension and obesity) and to eliminating my gut issues and having better cognitive function.

Calories are measured by a bomb calorimeter and humans are not a calorimeter. Calories really don't matter. Technically I eat between 3,000 and 4,000 calories a day and I'm 146 lb female(wasn't overweight before). I seem to need a ton of fat. I also need to eat for many hours a day, usually 8-10hrs.
People can eat 1000 calories and gain weight while others can eat excessive amounts and lose. Exercise does not burn calories either.

Realized I'm not eating enough at 11-1200 calories, have forced myself to start eating breakfast BEFORE my coffee about 10 days ago and I'm able to now eat enough, even though I have a hard time eating breakfast. Did OMAD for 9 months or so. Was having crappy sleep and stalled weight loss.
Started tracking protein and discovered to my horror that I was averaging between 950-1200 calories per day. A huge factor in my weight loss stall.
Now, I focus on getting adequate protein, have a 6 hour eating window, and try not to eat within 3 hours of going to bed.
I'm sleeping like a champ, and the weight loss stall is resolving. I feel good now, and have plenty of energy for running and gardening/yardwork.

Allow me to share my Carnivore experience and struggles:
I have been eating meat and eggs for 8 months.(Red meat most of the time. Chuck steak) I am a healthy individual with no chronic diseases. I started the carnivore diet to lose body fat without starving or starving myself.(body recomposition + satiaty)
I am 180cms tall, 185 lbs, and +-21-22% BF. I have not lost any body fat in the last almost 4 months.(My goal is to be 15%BFor less, what would require me to lose at least 15lbs of fat)
I eat 500-600g of meat(usually read meat/Chuck steak) and 6-7 eggs. I also do strength training 2-3 times a week to help lose body fat and maintain muscle mass.
Weirdly or not, i also have not experience most of the Carnivore diets benefits so famous in the Carnivore community, such as Boost in energy levels, Better sleep and etc.
Allow me to ask some question about the Carnivore diet:
1- What adjustments do I need to make to lose body fat on a carnivore diet, without being hungry?
2- Should I use the CICO model if I can't lose body fat on a carnivore diet? (should i start counting my calories to lose bodyfat?)
3- How long should it take to evaluate the carnivore diet (I've had poor results so far and i am starting to consider to quit)
4- How do I calculate how much fat and protein (even calories) I should eat on a carnivore diet to lose body fat without, being hunry or starving myself?
5- Is it a problem to eat leaner cuts of meat?
    Thank you!.

Thanks to your videos I've learned that I was also under eating trying to do omad. I've switched to two meals in the last couple weeks because I know I cannot get the amount of protein I need in one meal. I struggled at first thinking I would gain if I stated eating two meals but thankfully I have continued to lose weight. I'm still trying to work out the amount of protein to fit into two meals but I think I've gotten exactly what I need to eat and when I accomplish that. I have been dealing with the hair loss for months now and I'm hoping this will stop it and I'll regain my once thick hair. Thanks for all the informative videos you and Chris put out. You were the first ones I watched when I made the decision to try carnivore. I was only looking for a better way to lose weight as nothing rise had worked for the long term and I didn't have any real health issues yet. Diabetes, heart disease, stroke and Alzheimer's run in my family so if this way of eating can prevent me from inheriting those I know I've made the best decision for me. I'm hoping one day my parents (both stubborn) will see the benefits and try as well. My dad is diabetic with COPD so I know this could do wonders for him. Not to mention the amount of drugs he has to take daily could be significantly reduced. Again thanks for always giving great information.

Just to be an encouragement to you, it is not miserable at all. The way I ate previously, before becoming a carnivore, yes, it would have been totally miserable! But on carnivore, I am simply not hungry more often than that. I just absolutely do not want to eat because I am completely satisfied. If I try to eat twice a day, it is just too much food. So don't worry about that, it will just come as you eat more of the carnivore lifestyle. And if it doesn't come, that's perfectly fine!

Laura, when you mentioned calories that raised a red flag for me. Are you counting calories with your other macros? I firmly believe that if one knows their daily protein intake for their bodily needs, they can eat that much in one sitting along with fat until satiation. For example, my protein intake a day is around 140-150 grams. That's about half a kilogram of lean meat like chicken legs, they have their skin on so I usually eat only 1 or 2 sticks of butter with that (50g per stick) and about 4 eggs and I'm done with the 150 grams of protein, also about 150 grams of fat (I keep to a 1:1 ratio in grams). This way of counting and omading has worked best for me and I just couldn't see why this would not work for anyone especially you, since you are metabolically healthy anyways. I would be curious if you could just leave the calories out of it and see if that works better. Omad makes so much more sense then doing multiple feedings a day.

Last year I did 16/8 for 3-6 months. I lost weight. 2-3 lbs a week. It worked!
Although, now I am having issues with my gallbladder only to find out that fasting can cause gallstones. 😢 Dr Berg and many google searches have stated this fact. Wish I knew that sooner.
Anyone else here develop the same issue?

I'm like Chris, I do omad but I never feel hungry. I eat a lot too. But not as much as Chris. If I have lunch then I cannot eat my dinner. So I eat between 4pm and 6pm. I'm not carnivore yet, as I love avacados i have to have 1 every day, then i drink raw vegetables for magnesium and potassium which i learned from the "liver cleansing diet" book and then i eat meat. I couldn't eat 3 steaks like Chris, I can only eat just one good size one.

Element does work for me.. however I have yet to have it not kick me out of ketosis.. every single time.. I was in a 28-hour fast and this last time I tried it again and got the same results..

How is your fat to muscle rations on OMAD. Dr O'Neil says dividing protein over 3 meals the protein is absorbed better vs OMAD. He quoted studies showing that so I've not tried OMAD. Love your channel, I'm in Phoenix, too. I was starting a cooking channel but now on carnivore rethinking it.

I'm very confused about how to calculate grams of protein and macros. Is there a link or website that you recommend that may help me? Thank you so much. You are an inspiration :)

The electrolytes are really important - I can't live w/out them. And I am at 6 months of Carnivore - on "normal days" it is one meal a day. On days of serious activity - I have to eat breakfast and lunch - both are pretty small (because I have to carry) - so once I get home I have to eat one steak or something like that. In the end - it probably not more than 1.5lb of meat.

Eat the fat around meat if you can. It will be used for energy. Otherwise protein will be converted to glucose via gluconeogenisis. If this happens, there may not be enough protein to maintain muscle.

As a former life-long vegetarian I'm still getting used to this extreme way of eating. I know I used to eat a lot of carbs and a lot of sugar with my daily salads. Only been doing this carnivore diet about a week now. First couple days I craved pepsi, ice cream, or anything like that. But not much any more. First couple days I had two meals a day, but now its only one meal, and a small steak or couple hamburger patties at that. Meat is just so filling I don't want anything more. I'm over weight - 220 lbs, 5ft7in. so hopefully soon, after I lose some weight, I'll feel like two meals again.
But I've also had the side effect where from my knees to my feet swell up a lot. Never had that before. But the swelling has gone down a little. Am I deficient in some vitamin or mineral?
    Thank you for your reply.
