- One part caster, one part Martial, all heavy metal. The new Pathfinder 2E Magus class finally breaks down the barrier between spell casting classes and weapon wielding classes. The magus keeps up with the martial classes in weapon attack and damage, AND, always has the latest greatest spells to wither enemies away with magic. Their unique damage stance, Arcane Cascade, might not be much damage, but if used properly against monster weaknesses can be pretty lethal. And, the Magus spell casting IS unusual, and probably fits in somewhere between an actual casting class and an archetype casting class. However, since the Magus always has the latest greatest, nasty McNasty spells, not having a lot of low level spell slots really means they are less of a utility caster than full casting class, while still being an equal damaging caster. And, of course, studious spells and conflux spells help the Magus keep up with some utility spell casting.

The visuals and editing in this video are way more than I was expecting. You're really stepping up your production quality. Very good overview too, I was really unsure about why playing a Magus would be a good idea.
Correction : they lose the spell slots, not the spells as they are prepared casters and have a spell book.
Which allows them to prepare spells in their higher spell slots they gain.
They also get master spellcasting. The only things they don't get master in are reflex and perception. And you can still get one of those to master with a feat
Absolutely love the work you put into your videos. As a clarification, Logan Bonner (lead pathfinder designer) just clarified that “last action/next action” has to be within the same round. Of course, a GM can vary this rule.

I honestly love magus but I also honestly think magus need and errata that will buff it, as you mentioned arcane cascade deals pitfull dmg and it is an action to enter that stance on top of spellstrike 3 actions,
Magus generally have a problem with dmg I noticed, he is supposed to be the big number guy or cast defensive or utility spell at cost of dmg but honestly his dmg is barely there.
Him spellstriking with highest dmg cantrip gouging claw can deal less dmg than a monk or other martials while using much more actions to use and recharge, him casting his highest spell slot for dmg is also not that great in comparison since you can do it only 4 times per day.
And if he doesn't use spellstrike then he deals rly pitfull dmg since he is relaying on that, and unfortunately it triggers Attack of opportunity.
Overall this is nice class but it requires some buffs while being 8hp and requiring hit str and int while not doing that much dmg anyway. Its great thematically.
As someone who plays one in an AP right now I can tell you damage is not a problem I have. The party consists of a rogue (I think he's a thief), a barbarian, an investigator and a druid. And the barbarian when he does it right is on top but the rogue and I more than hold our own. At level 7 having a base +8 to damage before cascade or anything else is nice
True strike in 5e is utter trash
