    Lighting is everything to the mood of your home. I’ve recently switched to lamps instead of overhead lighting (🥳) and what a wonderful difference it has made to the feel of my home. I would love to see a video on your suggestions for lamp shade styles. Have a great day and as always thank you for your explanations and inspiration!

    Great post on lighting. I am a lover of mood lighting, and most all my lamps and overheads have dimmers. Recently I put an up light behind my sofa so that it warms the area and shines a nice low light on the wall above it. Belated happy birthday to you Christina! 🎉

    Good subject, lighting is everything. Lovely pictures also. For natural light I have some sheer roman shades that work exactly as I imagined, love them! I have a ceiling light that I have mixed feelings about. I kinda like it, but there are other styles I love also and... it is not dimmable. So I only use it when I clean the room or do a project. But still it elevates the room. Love my collection of table lamps, they give me so much joy! From a find from a thrift shop, to a Danish design from the 50/60ties, and even a lamp that I bought when I was in my 20ties, over 30 years ago, still love it. I also love my IKEA lamp, a simple round shape, that is exactly what I looked for, for a specific corner.
    Even before I started to work on my home, almost 4 years ago, and it was a real mess, the lighting helped bringing some atmosphere in the room and making it feel cozy. So a very good choice to make this video. I always look at the lighting and lamps in a space, when I go through instagram, Pinterest or magazines. They are so often very creatively made, like your lamp without a shade. I still have my dream to one day buy a small chandelier with Murano glass... Have a blessed week!

      Hi Grady! I too LOVE vintage lamps. There are various spectrums for light bulbs so it’s possible to have a softer glow even without a dimmer via the bulb selection 🤍 but yes, not a bad thing to have a bright light for cleaning too!
      Lighting creates the mood-for example “mood lighting” as it is said. Harsh light in cold blue greens feels uncomfortable to most anyone.
      I find the warmth of a soft light or even a candle can make a room feel like a hug. After a long day, I love nothing more than sitting in a room with a dim warm light or a candle-or both, listening to music and relaxing. It’s transformative.

    Hi!!! Thanks for the tips! Wanted to ask if possible; what’s your opinion on rooms that have two light options? For example in a kitchen where there’s one light between the sink and stove and then another light where the dining table would be. I guess I’m asking if the space isn’t that big would you recommend they match?

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Medina! Good question. If the space isn’t very big and they’re both visible “together” then yes it would be easiest if they matched (this is easiest); however, they can be different but must complement each other. I would also opt for the same finish if they’re both made of metal or have metal accents.

    Thanks for another useful video, I really enjoy watching them. It takes me ages to choose a lamp. At the moment, I'm looking for a light fixture for a very small entryway that has no power. It would be really helpful to have a vid on selecting the right size mirror too for a small entryway. The drop zone I have created is only 60cm wide and I'm still thinking about the size of both lamp and mirror. Would a larger mirror be out of scale, or do I stay within that 60cm envelope, which seems small? Hmmm, anyway, enjoy your weekend.

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Georgie! I would go with the mirror that fits the scale of the wall space where you plan to hang it. The other option is to fill the area with a mirror (like a mirror tile) so it’s a part of the wall.
      I love a small mirror to draw you inward-like a small wonder on the wall. Not sure how high your ceilings are in this space but you may be able to use a long narrow mirror or a collection of small mirrors (this is less practical but a beautiful way to reflect light).

    ideas for non hard wired lighting if you don't have outlets and can't redo electric?

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can use these same principles but search for plug in lighting. I always like buying the chords with a socket on one side and plug in the other. You can then pick a shade, buy a hook for the ceiling and hang it from there. Good luck!

    Hi Christina! It's Linda from Boston.
    Perfect timing as I am looking for lighting above my chandelier for my condo.
    I think you would love the way it is coming along. Totally different from when we had our consultation! I have made some pricey mistakes. (The green banquet from west elm I ended up selling.)
    I'm going very slowly and purchasing things mostly from FB market. It's more global, warm...very much like the pictures you put up rather than what I was initially going for!
    My table that I bought today is a 48"- 72" extendable table for when I have guests. It will mostly be in the 48" size. Do you think that is what I should go with for my lighting as far as size or the 72 inch?
    TY

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s great news Linda! I’m excited for you and so happy it’s coming together. You should base your lighting size on the 48” if this is the typical length you’ll use. Otherwise if you base it on 72” then your lighting will be too large for the 48” everyday size. You can always add those cute rechargeable table lights for the ends of the table so you have enough light there when the table has been extended to 72” (like those in restaurants).
      If you’re at 48” then your light should not longer than 32”. Hope that helps!! 😘 So nice to hear from you!!

      These are wonderful ideas for lighting. I love the vintage light without a shade😊 I have a good tip.I bought some Himalayan salt light bulbs on Amazon that screw into a regular lamp and give off a beautiful pinkish glow in the evening. I have one in my living room in a floor lamp, and one in my bed nook in a wall sconce.
