came for the chill vibes, but keep eagerly returning for the truly life changing interior tips. I love how you don't just say 'this good' and 'this bad' but actually walk us through the philosophy behind why. it's rewiring my brain in the best way. thanks noah :)
No no no this edting style is literally perfect, don't change it. The issue with other videos in this category is that they NEVER show enough examples while talking and it always annoys me. We are here to learn visually. You're the first creator who actually shows plenty of examples, which makes everything you say easier to digest.
100% agree! They just speak abt a topic or put a single clip/photo and assume that people who are new to it will get it. Its better to learn with many pictures (+ he explains them well too!)
I'm 64, obsessed with interior design and have consumed interior magazines and now You Tube programmes on design since forever. This is by far the best channel on interior design I have ever come across. Thank you Noah. Keep up the excellent work.
I am not a design nerd, but I am someone who loves learning. I recently bought a house and have been trying to be thoughtful about how to furnish it. My mind has been overwhelmed by all the things to learn about this field that I’ve never spent time thinking about before. I’m finding it hard to make much progress in turning this house into a desirable space because of all the things to consider (and all the things that I don’t know to consider!). I guess that’s why there are professionals called Interior Designers. Anyway, just letting you know that there are also design neophytes here watching and learning. If you think you’re sharing basic information that you assume someone listening might already know, assume the opposite! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You have quickly become my favorite interior design TH-camr! So much thoughtfulness and actual information in your videos! Definitely thinking about lighting in a new way now :)
Loving the sober and theoretical approach in these videos. I have one suggestion for a topic. I really miss an advanced video on color theory for painting walls. Like, 1) wall direction and hue, 2) brightness of rooms and recommended LRV and chroma of paint, 3) how to find colors that really 'pop' next to each other for painting adjacent rooms. If you make a video on that you will be making something truly unique that no one else is covering. But regardless I will keep following the channel :)
i appreciate your interior design videos because it's as much about the theory than the aesthetics. when it comes to advice, i go to experts, chefs for recipes and techniques, dermatologists for skincare advice, chemists for hair care. now i have an interior design who can give me some insight while breaking down the information succinctly. :)
Been searching high and low for genuinely good interior design content and not weirdly over edited videos that leave so much to be desired in terms of personality and solid tips/teachings and finally found it here. Don't think you need to change a thing about your video editing, it's perfect!
I’m currently building a home and have been stressing about the lighting plan so this video could not have come at a more perfect time. Seriously, thank you. You really helped me understand how to thoughtfully design my ambient lighting. I had been saving images of things I’d seen elsewhere but you were able to EXPLAIN why those designers made the choices they did (eg. ceiling lights placed close to the edge of the walls so that they light the walls rather than spaced all over). THANK YOU!
And from someone who does care about photo/ video looks I actually really like your format of video, the constantly shuffling pictures are a chill way to add more interest and engagement than just a talking head
I’ve watched so many lighting design videos and this one had something none of the other ones had, lighting philosophy. Lighting choices make much more sense. Also love the video format!
I wanted to write a comment under the previous video asking about lighting! This is so great, perfect timing! Next video suggestion: how to use texture in interiors!
Yes please!! I’ve been struggling with feeling like I have too many textures happening in my living room which is done in a fairly modern approach to design but still feels slightly chaotic or something and I wonder if the textures clashing are what’s causing the feeling of “this is too much”
Love the video! I slightly disagree with the colored lighting/bulbs. Most people just use them wrong and make their whole room look like a video game. As long as they're used as accents to supplement the normal bulbs and don't dominate the room, they can add a nice touch!
This is my first video here and I must say I love the production! It's simple, gentle, and the set up easily demonstrates what you're speaking about it! Please don't change!
ok. you are amazing. I entirely renovated my appartement a year and a half ago. the lighting is really good, except in my tiny home office. we didn’t give it a second thought and put integrated ceiling lights. the result is that I never actually work in there, I work from my couch. you’ve made me realize that all I have to do is to change the straight ceiling lights to directional ones. pretty simple. thank you !
Noah, the content is what matters, don't worry about the edit. I love your approach to design and how well you expose your view. Keep those videos coming, please.
I love this video so much! You remind me of me! I feel like I've been a lone and lonely voice in abhorring overhead lighting and needing to have SO many light sources in every room, and caring so deeply about lighting in general! I look forward to being a part of your community. BTW, I'm also very sensitive to the temperature of the light in the room and find that it really matters whether the bulbs are warm vs cool, and that what is appealing definitely changes with the time of day. I've been so grateful to find that it's now possible to buy bulbs with adjustable temperature as well as adjustable brightness. And that newer ones are easier to use and don't involve yet another soul killing remote!
Pot lights to the side. Blew me away! I bought an MCM house, the seller had installed pot lights everywhere--right down the middle. It's hideous. Hideous! I knew pots looked better another way but I never could put my finger on how museums achieved it. Mystery solved! My jaw hit the floor when I took in the beautiful look of POT lights washing the walls. I am thrilled. I can't wait to take them out, repair the ceilings, and reinstall them along the perimeter. I love the look! Many thanks for enlightening me. Literally. I like your background in this vid. Feels true to u. The experience was soothing. I think if u can wear the mic (clipped on like the news anchors) u will realize an increased comfort of having both hands free. Thanks also for keeping the images onscreen longer. And u could make it even longer. It take time to absorb images. The landscape view of u on one half and the examples on the other half is super helpful. I did wish the ones with white frames were minus the frames. My phone screen is small enough already without the white screens. And a thing I've noticed is that white absolutely murders color. That's right, it subtracts in a huge way. Keep 'em coming! ❤ And consider having less content per video and therefore posting more (shorter) videos. It suits this medium better. Best, Julia
I am in a process of remodelation in my home and this video was really useful! I am really unexpericed in design, but lights are really really importante to me and make all the diference when I visit other homes, or restaurants, etc. Thanks a lot!
The quality is good where it matters - you have excellent audio and the best reference photos. I went down a light bulb rabbit hole last year after I started getting into lamps and bought a vintage Robert Sonneman lamp with the globe bulbs. I also have a number of vintage halogen desk lamps. Getting LED replacements for these things can really go wrong. I never realized how terrible LED light is compared to older “burning” bulbs - they are beautiful like a flame and LED even at the “correct” color temp often just looks dead. I think the technical reason has something to do with the wavelengths that make it up, but that’s when I came to become a bulb snob haha. The British company Tala makes really lovely bulbs - their Sphere collection has adaptive color temperature for dimming so it gets warmer the dimmer you go like old style bulbs. Unfortunately the Spheres didn’t fit in my Sonneman lamp but I have their Echo table lamp with them and it is my favorite lamp ever. I use the regular Tala globe bulb in my Sonneman and I had a little bit of a breakdown because the undertone of those bulbs is just slightly more yellow green than the magenta orange undertone of the Sphere bulbs, even though their color temperature is supposed to overlap, but there was no better alternative and my husband assured me no one can tell 😂
Oh my gosh, I had so much fun watching this video! I feel you!!! I like how sincere you are whiling reminding how to avoid those "wrong options". This video is absolutely amazing and extremely practical. Every one should watch this! Thank you for this, can't wait to see more.
Lemme tell you why your video was great and doesn't need to change. It's the same thing I said to my gf when I sent this to her in the middle of watching because it was too good to wait. You have all the example images scrolling right next to you as you spoke! Dunno if that's what you do in your other vids as I'm presently learning how to light my space and this the first I've seen of you. I've seen a lot about color temp and I understand about task, directional, accent, etc but I hadn't heard "as many light sources as possible." That got me thinking differently. I'm also not a fan of seeing a bulb and loved the bit about overly ornate lighting. Changing up my lighting is what got me referring to my apartment as my "space," and that shift in mindset has been amazing. Thank you for sharing!!
Just binged your entire channel as I'm getting ready to move into an actual office at work, after months of perching on the corner of any desk or conference table where I could find space. I am excited to personalize my new space, and this entire series has been such a good reminder to be patient and focus on quality, when I can feel tempted to rush and go cheap. Thank you!
Lighting Designer and Interior Designer here.... good information you have here. I especially appreciate your understanding of asymmetry and accent lighting. The only thing I would take exception to is swearing off colored lighting as a whole. The PROPER use of RGBW in the subtle tones can be amazing and can allow a space to be recreated and kept interesting every day. And the "W" (white) is critical because that is what provides the pastel color subtly and softness that is so appealing, along with many shades of white, versus basic RGB, which provides harsh primary colors and only a stark version of white. However, I typically apply color in my lamps, not the downlighting. For recessed downlighting I will use variable shades of white or warm dimming. Cheers.
The thing about overhead light hitting a surface was something I kinda knew subconsciously, but you beautifully put into words how this should translate into a lighting plan/concept for ceiling lights. This video gave me an extra boost to finally upgrade our living room with more ambient light. I bought a knockoff rice paper Akari Juni pendant and it's going to be installed asap.
Reluctant viewer who came for the info only, but was won over by your logical and thoughtful manner and the fact that everything you say makes so much sense. Even though I’m an ignorant philistine, you don’t make me feel so dreadful because you’re nice enough not to talk down even to the ignorant
No fluff, no hype. Just solid well thought out information. I found your channel about 10 minutes ago have already subscribed, and I never do this, asked for alerts to your new content. I also love all of the examples that you flash up on the right hand side, and honestly some of the lamps lighting, that you are using as illustrations are to die for. I also like that you have featured many paper lantern style lights, like the Noguchi Akari range the Washi paper used gives a wonderful diffused lighting, and I am thinking of incorporating that into my decor I do have a lot of lights and lamps, but I’m trying to edit and make sure each one is complementary And adds to the lighting aesthetic. Love your content love you.
Loving this channel. I watch lots of content about interiors and it is always entertaining to me. Your videos are both entertaining and packed full of knowledge. It’s obvious that you are a true pro
Some great points. I’ve been creating a vintage mid century room. Finding authentic vintage lamps has been a slow process (I’m both picky and finding them is a challenge) but I will say each one I bring in jumps the awesome factor of the room.
I honestly really enjoyed this video. Especially the addition of all the example photos, I so appreciate the variety of visual examples. I can imagine that must have been a long process. Completely agreed with all your points, especially the icks. I've been putting off investing into lamps as we live in a crammed rental apartment and hoping to find a permanent house, but that said it might be another year. And what's an additional lamp... or three?
I love this video and found its visual quality totally satisfying as is. I've watched oh so many interior design channel videos over the years - and now back to it with my new, unfurnished apartment (exciting!). This one had tips that went beyond the standard, repeated lighting tips. I learned! Love seeing the examples of what to do and not to do. Would be thrilled to hear your picks for budget-friendly lights and lamps. One video said IKEA is a key place for that. I especially like the idea of wall sconces or otherwise on wall so not taking up floor space or table space. Many of us have pretty small spaces so each inch matters. But I need renter-friendly plus not uvly cords showing. Does that mean battery-operated? This video made me like the idea of lamps being invisible where only the pool of light itself shows like that makes me think of a modern art museum. Even though I'm a minimalist organic Meditteranean Boho kind of a gal. Cozy fireplace or wood stove glow would be my vibe but I don't have that. Thoughts on Morrican lanterns casting patterns?
I truly enjoyed this video, and especially the way you presented everything. Clear, direct and without any of the unnecessary fillers. Furthermore I truly have to mention that your voice is incredibly soothing to listen to. Just like the indirect lights you showed...
The best thing I've seen in a long time. Concise, valuable information delivered in a short format video without sound effects, in a serene space. I breathed a sigh of relief. Nothing like the clowns out there screaming for attention. Thank you.
Honestly the content of your videos is so good that you only need to worry about increasing production quality if it’s something you would find fun. Some TH-camrs need to rely on editing more if their content is lacking slightly but you are so engaging as is and your takes and explanations are so good that you really don’t need to change the way you present or edit your videos. It’s kind of refreshing and relaxing to watch. They are honestly so high quality already like your standards must be high.
I found your channel just a view weeks ago, and I already feel like you will be one of those people that I will follow for yearsss! It's great to see you and your channel grow from its beginning stages, keep up the great work😘
After a decade of being a vagabond, I've finally got my own apartment and over the last two months I've been building it up from scratch. I was about to go against two of your concepts: a colored lightbulb in a decorative lamp--the offense softened perhaps in that it's a silk covered lamp that gives off a soft glow. I put warm glow light behind/under my bed frame (natural 2700K-ish light only, with no exposed LEDs (I knew better than that!) All this to say: This video was incredibly helpful and has steered me in a much better direction than I was heading. I'm new to interior design but I've been enjoying it immensely! Thanks so much for what you've shared here! And it was a pleasure to watch. You did a great job with your editing, sound and presentation style!
As an amateur light enthusiast, I can’t tell you how much I love and appreciate this video. I’ve been preaching the importance of good lighting for years, and my friends and family always looked at me like I was crazy! The way you explain everything is just perfectly put! Thank you!!
The ceiling lights at the edge of the room is a gorgeous idea. I’m an electrical apprentice and my love of lighting design is one of the reasons I went into this trade. I hope one day to be able to design and install lighting systems that create beautiful and functional ambiances like these photos!
i'd love to know any design/modernism/architecture book recommendations you have! i feel so inspired by your channel and want to deep dive into this world. SO grateful i found you, you're introducing me to concepts that i'll carry with me into every design decision i make for the rest of my life! i didn't know how much i needed this information and direction until now. thank you for sharing your expertise
personally i really enjoyed the style of your video. gentle, practical and soothing. the usual youtubering template has become insufferable these days, honestly. keep doing your thing
I've fallen in love with your channel. Your words clearly and thoughtfully elucidate stuff I kinda always felt but had no idea why. And knowing the 'why' is insanely helpful. Thank you! Nevertheless, I was not looking forward to this lighting video, as I have hated all other lighting videos and every piece of lighting advice I've ever read - they always make me feel like I can't do that or I can't afford it. But no, what a ninnyhead I was! Your lighting thoughts are fabulous. And smart. And illuminating (sorry). And achievable - especially in a tiny country where having to make changes that involve an electrician isn't very achievable at all.
I have found my people, I must have been a moth in my past life because ever since I moved to a new space, I have become OBSESSED with light fixtures and finding the right ones that fit the space.
This was really great. I agree with everything you said. Would love for you to go into more details on each of your ideas and points. I think especially for those of us renting and on a budget, learning more about covering hideous ceiling fixtures or replacing them with angled lights is so helpful!
I've been scouring the internet for cohesive interior lighting advice cuz I hate the recessed lights in my home. This is the first resource I've found to really nail it. I especially like all the practical tips and rolling inspiration while you're giving lots of great info. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your lighting advice. I have changed my mind about installing can lights in my great room and the caged light in my dining room! Also explaining the light temperature has really helped me know what light bulbs to replace my old ones with. The lighting strips in the correct area has been invaluable and I will not be using colored ones! Again, thanks!
Thank you so much for this video! Simply explained, and really valuable. I'm new to lightning and interior design in general, but really interested in this and would be happy to watch more of your videos (old and new ones too). Subscribed! 🙌
An exceptionally insightful presentation on lamps and lighting, along with their functionality within a space. As an interior designer specializing in office environments, I found this information highly informative.
Amazing explanation! I started working at a light company (ERCO) a year ago and they've changed the way I view light and interior design. The idea of entering a room and seeing the wall instead of lit floors, is called wall-washing in erco. It just makes a lot more sense that we navigate spaces head-on in front of us, wall-washing also makes spaces look cleaner and bigger.
The “shade” of it all. I love the softness and displeasure in your voice when you hate something. It says so much without saying much. lol I love it! Keep it coming and pls tell the masses again, “ Go take it down now…” lol
Lamps really do solve almost all problems. I have 1 bedroom apartment and have multiple lamps, I hate switching on the main light. I have all sorts of lights. Friends who I invite they all say that the apartment has really good vibe and I am almost 100% its due to the lights and the soft light it spreads. + I am so glad your channel poped up on my feed.
Great video, Noah. What lighting you buy depends on the overall style of your home, the size of the room and where the electric sockets are located. Your videos are helping me to become more intentional and considered in my choices. Certain designer lights are extremely expensive and trendy so I prefer keepers. It was great that you mentioned that lamps are functional in the way they emit light and aesthetics should be a secondary consideration. I think candlelight is another way of lighting up a space with a soft glow.
Noah, thank you very much for your thoughts about lighting. I'm just in the process of buying an apartment (it's not built yet, but I have the plan) and I think your thoughts are really going to help me avoid some major big falls. So thank you. I think I probably have the chance to put the ceiling. Insert lights along some walls, and I really will consider it even though it feels like taking a chance. Because really, I'm going to be stuck with it. But it looks so good on your video. I'm brand new to this channel so I'm definitely gonna check out your other videos. Thank you.
I'm so happy to hear this! I have three lamps in my small office and five in our guest bedroom!! Some are vintagey and inherited, some I found in the garbage and some we bought...excited to keep them all ... and USE them! Thanks for this!
I’m honestly baffled that I’ve only now finally found someone on the internet who A) has the same design style and mindset to me and B) can actually articulate my thoughts on WHY which I haven’t been able to do because I’m not a professional in any aspect (at least yet lol). So I just wanted to thank you for starting your channel, you’re a blessing at least to me
I love the content and the look of your videos. Nice and relaxing. The sound quality of your voice and the background music is balanced perfectly here. I love lamps!! I have three in my living room. Thank you for telling me to buy more 😂😂😂 this really cheered me up tonight so thanks 😊
Coming from the nightlife creative scene, being a video game esthetic lover as well as hosting people regularly in my space.. saying « no colored lights » is a huge missed opportunity of creating fun and atmospheric environments.. I do realize the disclaimer in the beginning of the video that these are not general rules and thats cool, it is your own personal style or maybe a more directed content to a specific audience. But in a more general sense, I feel with light design, we should be asking the question of what is gonna be the use of the space, during the day and during the night as well as our personality and vibe we want to express through it.
New subscriber, here. I really enjoyed your thoughtful analysis, and felt so understood! Also, the quality of the video was totally fine. I was able to focus on your thoughts and wasn’t distracted by fancy editing (or cringy mistakes). Thanks for sharing!
I always love your aesthetic. Exposed bulbs are often like knives to the retinas. Cool temp lighting, especially overhead, sucks to be in for any period of time. I saw some Chagalls & other fancy works once at a gallery private room with painting lights that dimmed - and I swear had a black light element *only in the dimming* (but maybe not) anyhow - that was amazing & brought what felt like invisible luminous dimensions to the works from near and far - it was mindblowing. We only use overhead light for cleaning or stuff like finding broken glass bits. Last but not least - be mindful of lighting outside - keep it facing down & even off most of the night, where safe of course- it really messes with insects and birds and that shit has to stop, esp for bougie design.
This is my first time seeing your content and it was entertaining and I feel so seen! (I LOL'ed at the "Urban Tuscan" part) Haha - I have been trying to share similar sentiments to my fiancé and our friends as we are moving into our new home. Also, your authenticity and wit IS the quality of this video so any upgrades to quality is bonus. We're still settling into our home so I'm excited so apply some Noah Daniel wisdom to our space!
Agreed! Glare is such a killer. If you have indirect or diffused light your space will feel so much better than if you can see light sources directly. I’m going to steel that soup thing, that’s a good way to describe it.
Really liked the calm atmosphere of the video and also the visuals which were added to illustrate what was said. Could you please make a video on the lights you like, the trends and some important notions regarding lighting? This would be great, in one or two videos maybe!😊
Just subscribed. Like many said, love your voice and how simple but cozy and genuine your videos are. I have 5 lamps and am looking forward to change my big ceiling light. And I live in a tiny 30 square meters studio in Tokyo.
I basically had a mental breakdown when I realized my architect was totally incompetent in regard to lighting design… haha after I said I don’t like cluttered ceilings she honestly put like 50, yes 50, recessed pot lights in our main living space between living, dining, kitchen, hall. I redid the lighting plan and removed many of these pot lights in favour of wall sconces. I feel like there was this odd cultural shift where homes went from having no ceiling lighting in living areas to having infinite pot lights as if lamps no longer exist. Love your channel! I’m just getting caught up :)
Thank you for giving glimpses of lamps, for example, to replace the “funky”. I am replacing the home’s boob lights, but we have lower ceiling so I am struggling. Going to Google Search the lights you flashed on the screen. I am learning so much from you. I love this!
I have a dark corner behind a large chair. I put an uplight behind it so it is lit, bit not bright. It just gives a cozy vibe, along with my little lamp family! Great content!
Thanks for the photos of examples. It was so helpful to see your suggestions as to what is possible, as well as what to avoid. I would not have been able to visualise the options available without your photos.
Agree. Agree. Agree. Lighting is the most important factor in design. I ALWAYS make sure there is lighting at all levels...Floor, Table, Wall and Ceiling. And your videos are great. Keep going. If people are commenting negatively on them...tell them to "eff off". 🤘
thank you for bringing up the exposed light bulb issue. caged bulbs, free bulbs, weird designer bulbs with showboaty shapes. its bad when you see it at first, and it's bad when you see it in the inevitable afterimage. give your bulb a house.
O m g!!!! I’ve been struggling with what light I should put in my apartment-hallway-entryway-foyer and I think the directional canned ceiling light would be amazing! I have a large piece of art in my foyer so I can direct it towards there. #intentionallighting !!! Thank you!
Thank you for explaining so well WHY you don't like things; this is so much more helpful than just pointing to another trend or rule. I'm learning so much. And I do have exposed lightbulbs but (oh dear) the light bulb has turned on about the missed opportunity/intentional directing of the light. Troye's AD tour is magical and now I'm understanding better why.
Hey Noah! In the future, would you consider linking the products you use as examples in your videos? It would be super helpful for viewers (ME, selfishly. Lol) if they really like something you show, and also get you a lil kickback if they buy it using your link! Just came across your channel today and your taste is *chef’s kiss* ✨
We love a simple edit. Please don't change that. We're focused on what you're saying. I come to your videos prepared with pen and notepad in hand.
literally. dont change anything pls its ideal the way it is
Totally agree
1000% your editing style is perfect rn
I came to the comments to say this exact thing!
I echo this. Clear audio for speech, no music. Less stimulation, more quality information. I love this :)
came for the chill vibes, but keep eagerly returning for the truly life changing interior tips.
I love how you don't just say 'this good' and 'this bad' but actually walk us through the philosophy behind why. it's rewiring my brain in the best way. thanks noah :)
Omg yay this makes me so happy 🙇🏻
No no no this edting style is literally perfect, don't change it. The issue with other videos in this category is that they NEVER show enough examples while talking and it always annoys me. We are here to learn visually. You're the first creator who actually shows plenty of examples, which makes everything you say easier to digest.
Agreed!
100% agree! They just speak abt a topic or put a single clip/photo and assume that people who are new to it will get it. Its better to learn with many pictures (+ he explains them well too!)
I have found a couple other good videos like his you just have to really search.
I like this quality, it feels like I’m in the living room of a good friend having interesting conversations
Exactly!
I'm 64, obsessed with interior design and have consumed interior magazines and now You Tube programmes on design since forever. This is by far the best channel on interior design I have ever come across. Thank you Noah. Keep up the excellent work.

I think about “soup of light” at least once a week. Troye’s AD tour is so so good.
Would love a video where you share spaces that have inspired you!
I love his home 😊😊😊❤❤❤
was it the tour he did a couple years ago or did he do a new tour?
Loving the sober and theoretical approach in these videos. I have one suggestion for a topic. I really miss an advanced video on color theory for painting walls. Like, 1) wall direction and hue, 2) brightness of rooms and recommended LRV and chroma of paint, 3) how to find colors that really 'pop' next to each other for painting adjacent rooms.

Here for the light shade
pun intended?
Touche'
See what you did there 😂
Baa dunts 🥁
Hahahahhaha❤
And from someone who does care about photo/ video looks I actually really like your format of video, the constantly shuffling pictures are a chill way to add more interest and engagement than just a talking head
I’ve watched so many lighting design videos and this one had something none of the other ones had, lighting philosophy. Lighting choices make much more sense. Also love the video format!
I wanted to write a comment under the previous video asking about lighting! This is so great, perfect timing! Next video suggestion: how to use texture in interiors!
Yes please!! I’ve been struggling with feeling like I have too many textures happening in my living room which is done in a fairly modern approach to design but still feels slightly chaotic or something and I wonder if the textures clashing are what’s causing the feeling of “this is too much”
Yes! Textures and possibly a separate video on patterns. There's so much to cover!🤗
Love the video! I slightly disagree with the colored lighting/bulbs. Most people just use them wrong and make their whole room look like a video game. As long as they're used as accents to supplement the normal bulbs and don't dominate the room, they can add a nice touch!
Didn't even notice anything about the quality of the videos. You are so informative and engaging that the last thing on my mind was that!

You are an amazing presenter of ideas. Very skilled at speaking and your ideas are clean and clear. Congratulations.
Noah, the content is what matters, don't worry about the edit. I love your approach to design and how well you expose your view. Keep those videos coming, please.
Thank you!! A lot more to come don’t worry
Loved the laid back vibes and stayed for the stellar content. Well done!
The voice you speaks with is calming and smoothing. It conforms me away from anxiety. When looking at these house tours, feel like I am at home.
Best,
Julia
I am in a process of remodelation in my home and this video was really useful! I am really unexpericed in design, but lights are really really importante to me and make all the diference when I visit other homes, or restaurants, etc. Thanks a lot!
I really like the simple, low stimulating video in lightning and sound! It’s a joy to watch and im so happy i found you!
Thank you!
Please don’t change into an AV guy! Your videos feel genuine, relaxing and approachable. Calm and informative over flashy and short-form oriented.
Also no need to apologize for video quality. All I want is to listen to your soothing voice shittalking trashy design lol.
Reluctant viewer who came for the info only, but was won over by your logical and thoughtful manner and the fact that everything you say makes so much sense. Even though I’m an ignorant philistine, you don’t make me feel so dreadful because you’re nice enough not to talk down even to the ignorant
Thank you for taking out the time to educate us all. Everything was on point.
Ah thank you so much 🤗
Don’t worry too much about the format.
the reference images are thoughtful and well timed. Great lesson. Thank you!
Ah I appreciate this so much, thank you!
okay but like his voice is so soothing and the vibes are vibing, ugh immaculate
its giving ASMR
I found your channel just a view weeks ago, and I already feel like you will be one of those people that I will follow for yearsss! It's great to see you and your channel grow from its beginning stages, keep up the great work😘
After a decade of being a vagabond, I've finally got my own apartment and over the last two months I've been building it up from scratch. I was about to go against two of your concepts: a colored lightbulb in a decorative lamp--the offense softened perhaps in that it's a silk covered lamp that gives off a soft glow. I put warm glow light behind/under my bed frame (natural 2700K-ish light only, with no exposed LEDs (I knew better than that!)
All this to say: This video was incredibly helpful and has steered me in a much better direction than I was heading.
Thank you!!
Also your voice is soooo nice, haha I feel like you could be a voice over artist for audio books!
omg FINALLY I get this whole “create a lighting plan” thing. so many clear and actionable examples and tips; love to see it 🙂↕️
I was thinking of getting some green glass lamp shades. You've moved in a better direction. Thanks Noah!
I really needed this video. In the midst of a reno right now. Thank you!❤
personally i really enjoyed the style of your video. gentle, practical and soothing. the usual youtubering template has become insufferable these days, honestly. keep doing your thing
I really liked how calm this video is. Perfect to watch with my coffee in the morning
Finally someone addresses the exposed coloured LED lights. Tacky. Keep the vids coming. Also, nice voice.
thank you for gracing us with your wisdom, wit, exquisite reference photos, and ASMR voice. do you think you’ll ever give us a tour of your home?
Great video, Noah. What lighting you buy depends on the overall style of your home, the size of the room and where the electric sockets are located. Your videos are helping me to become more intentional and considered in my choices. Certain designer lights are extremely expensive and trendy so I prefer keepers. It was great that you mentioned that lamps are functional in the way they emit light and aesthetics should be a secondary consideration.
I think candlelight is another way of lighting up a space with a soft glow.
Even when throwing shade at lighting techniques you've made it soft, warm and welcomed. Flawless. No notes. :)
So I just wanted to thank you for starting your channel, you’re a blessing at least to me
Such an inspiratonal tutorial meanwhile i am being indesicive in picking lights for my new tiny apartment. So much thanks from Hong Kong❤
I would love to see a room or house tour of your own interiors, with you explaining why you've made choices you have!
Yeah I will be ignoring the LED strip light tip though I agree it can look tacky and too much like a gamer lair if it’s everywhere
Lighting solves every problem 💯💯💯
New subscriber, here. I really enjoyed your thoughtful analysis, and felt so understood!
Also, the quality of the video was totally fine. I was able to focus on your thoughts and wasn’t distracted by fancy editing (or cringy mistakes). Thanks for sharing!
You provided the best information of any lighting design video I’ve seen. And I’ve watched quite a few of them recently! Thank you!!
Finally someone who understands the concept of lighting! Thank you, great job
Love the quality of your content, so usefull. Watched this one twice. Like the simple and kind way of your presentation. Bravo
Really liked the calm atmosphere of the video and also the visuals which were added to illustrate what was said.
Could you please make a video on the lights you like, the trends and some important notions regarding lighting?
This would be great, in one or two videos maybe!😊
From now on…. I’ll begin to design my light plans thoughtfully. Plus carefully select my choice of light 💡 for the intended purpose. Kudos Bro 😎
Right now I renovate my coffee before opening, and this knowledge really helps me! Thanks a lot Noah
I would not have been able to visualise the options available without your photos.
your videos are perfect as they are. also - troye's AD tour is one of my faves :)
Agree. Agree.
All of that is true, happily there are exceptions, look at the designer Ingo Maurer
O m g!!!! I’ve been struggling with what light I should put in my apartment-hallway-entryway-foyer and I think the directional canned ceiling light would be amazing! I have a large piece of art in my foyer so I can direct it towards there. #intentionallighting !!! Thank you!
Omg this makes me so happy 🥹 yay!
Great Video Noah! Thanks for showing these examples!
Hey Noah! In the future, would you consider linking the products you use as examples in your videos? It would be super helpful for viewers (ME, selfishly. Lol) if they really like something you show, and also get you a lil kickback if they buy it using your link! Just came across your channel today and your taste is *chef’s kiss* ✨
