I did a trigger job on mine and polished the feed ramp; I got a 4 1/2 lb trigger pull afterward. Bought a couple 8 rnd Kimber mags for a micro 9 and they fit perfectly in the 938.
One point you missed. When charging the P238 or P938, you can cock the hammer and put the safety on prior to racking the slide. This reduces the tension on the slide while pulling it back and when it goes to battery, the safety is already on.
I bought the Night Mare, rubberized wrap around grip then added a forward activated Crimson Trace laser, I cut a small area out of the front part of the grip for the laser button under my forefinger grip. I have about 2000 rds through it, never failed. Mine also has the battery issue when charging the weapon but when firing it always works smooth. it's my daily carry in a front pocket, pinky tip on the 7rd mag is perfect for an easy draw. Always carried with the hammer down and one hot in the chamber, I don't want anything to fall into the gap between the hammer and pin during carry, Safety off, just pull the hammer back, may not be the absolute safest way to carry, it's my choice. With the laser it's just draw activate and shoot, no sights to worry about lining up. Owned for 8yrs, One thing I did to help on the field strip was to drill a small hole near the front of the rod to put a pin in to hold the recoil spring in place while not in the weapon. Don't have to fight the spring during reassembly, something the factory should do.
I have the Nightmare version and I just bought the Legion version. I also own the P238 380 as well. The 938s are very similar to the Kimber micro 9, but (I have never said this before) Sig gives you more bang for the buck. $700 for the Sig Legion that comes with 3 mags, tritium night sights, and front and back strap checkering. The Kimbers at that pice point doesn't offer even half of that.
I was EDC a 365 since they came out and never thought about switching it up, however, I was interested in a hammer fired subcompact to add to the family and the 938 Legion was the perfect addition. This has taken over as my EDC and the argument between single and double stacked in terms of capacity is overblown in my opinion. Carry an extra mag if you’re that concerned, but the concealability is awesome for pocket carry in shorts and a tshirt.
Bought the 938 and 238 several yrs ago, no problems whatsoever. One or the other always with me depending on what I’m doing. Shoot Federal 147 gr Hi-Shok in 938, low recoil and shoots good.
Thank you for a thorough and thoughtful review. I'm not likely to purchase the P938 Legion, because I am very satisfied with my current P938; if, on the other hand, I were looking for a small 9, and didn't already have one, this would have really helped me make a decision. Thank you; be safe, and happy shooting.
6.5lb trigger? Wow. I was expecting half that. My 229 Legion and my 226 Legion have really excellent single action triggers. I was considering one of these to shoot BUG division in IDPA. I really need to feel that trigger for myself.
Woah, now that's a nice one to test out. Legion isn't cheap, and supposedly it'll let you join the "Legion" club, which I don't really know if it's that great of a thing. Single stack could be a concern, though the trade off is that you could deep carry with it and not have it snag. Thanks! Edit: I love Lauren's take on this one. Very interesting thoughts for someone who might have trip ups with subcompacts.
I Love my 938,I carry it Everywhere, Every Day in a crossbreed @ 5:00 . If capacity is a problem Kimber micro 9 8 rd mags fit perfect ❤ If I Need more than 9 rds - I’ll stay Home 😂
I have the 938 legion as my carry. I wouldn’t run the 6 rd mag in it. Those are just for the non-legion models. The extended mags are all 7 rounds. But the legion mags are specific to the legion model because it’s the only 938 with the metal mag well, so the others won’t fit. I also run a Kimber Micro 9 extended magazine which holds 8 rounds. This mag works flawlessly in my 938. I just had to take a stemel to the plastic end cap so it would fit inside the mag well. Easy project, and you can then run 8+1 in the sig P938. That’s the highest capacity I’ve found. Please let me know if anyone knows a mag that can push to 9+1 or more. But I love this micro pistol.
I havent had a chance to hold one yet but as someone who is 6'4 do you think handling this gun would be difficult. Love everything about it and seems like a good edc but idk if my hands are to big
Has anyone else had battery issues with theirs. Mine is brand new and Ive put about 100 rounds through mine right after cleaning and oil8ng it. Every few rounds wouldnt go into battery and i would have to tap the slide. Had to do it for about 20 or so out of the 100 fired. I dont know if these are like kimbers and need to be broken in or if there could be something wrong with it.
@FamilyFirearmReviews I tried magtech 115gr, Midwest 115gr, and s&b 124gr, so I'm hoping it just needs to be broken in, lol. If it doesn't get better I guess I'll have to call Sig.
Mine took 500 rounds for the failures to stop, now it’s perfect. I’ve found it really likes to be over oiled. Sig vcrown hollow points, critical defense, blazer and cheap venom ammo run through it perfectly.
still have my 'Extreme' alive and kicking without a hitch all these years later after the initial intro. Gosh, is this firearm really that old now? I also have the all stainless P238-HD, and was hoping all this time that Sig would put out the same for the P938... alas.. I hear they've wound down production on this model now..
@@FamilyFirearmReviews yeah for Sure! I think you can call Sig and Get the 3 Mags that didn’t come with it! It’s Worth a Try anyway! If not Just buy them! Those Mags will work better with the Extended Mag Well that came with the Gun! You won’t have to dig to get the Magazine out!! Also it will feel better in the hand with a better grip because of the Pinky extensions on the Mags..

What did you do for the trigger job?
Which mags did you get. I know the legion has different mags

That's great info! Thank you
I prefer a single stack over a double. You shouldn't count that as a down side; for me its a plus
I have a single stack 380 I carry when I dress up. But the way the market is going double stack seems to be the trend.
If single stack was more popular, this pistol would cost twice as much.
I bought one about last month, and I've been totally happy with it. SIG done it right 👍
They 100% did on this one!

This gun comes with 3, 7 rounds magazines. That will give you 22 rounds. If you need more then that then you need to break out the AK or the AR
Got the brg 👍
How do you like it?
@@FamilyFirearmReviews Its perfect and flawless. Shoots great
It shot well and I really do like it. Just surprised at the heavy trigger pull.

Nice review!! I carry my P938 legion and my P365 as my edc. The P938 is my favorite.
One of my favorite summer carry firearms

?
The Sig P938 Legion comes with 3 seven round magazines.
Bought ours used, and that's how it came. Wish it had all the mags.
I was thinking the same thing, mine has three magazines.
We picked ours up used
The safest pocket pistol going. I prefer a hd 238 but have shot a 938. Flawless
I bought the legion 938 because i was so satisfied with my p365 and wanted the hammer version in a similar size. I love this gun!!!!
I also have the 365 in my carry rotation. I carry this when I want something slim and easy to conceal.
6.5lb trigger? Wow. I was expecting half that. My 229 Legion and my 226 Legion have really excellent single action triggers. I was considering one of these to shoot BUG division in IDPA. I really need to feel that trigger for myself.
We were also surprised. It's was a stuff trigger to be honest.
Let the metal work itself in. Trigger pull lightens up with use.

some of those double stacks are very hard to conceal. being small will be carried more. this size is perfect. plus the p238 p938 are very easy to rack

I use the short clip for CC because the gun is even smaller
Good review two perspectives for the price of one! 👍👍
my favorite ccw

Best thing to do is find one and handle it. They are pretty slim but feel really good in my hand. With that I am not the biggest guy.
Average self defense shooting is 1.5 rounds fired.
Agree but I would rather have more capacity and not need it than need it amd not have it.

You got screwed the legion comes with 3 mags and they all have the pinky tab on the bottom
That's what you get when you buy used sometimes.
Is it going into battery without you having to tap it. Reloads look slow and clunky
Yes it went into battery just fine for most of the day. One time, I rode the slide, and d had to tap the back. That was my fault, not the firearms.
I must have bought a lemon P938. Sold it and replaced with an LCP2 that runs. Glock clones at home. No more Sigs for me. $$$

It's a good shooter. Just surprised with the trigger pull on ours. The 938 is super reliable and easy to conceal.

Those are the Wrong Mags! The Legion comes with 3 7 round Mags!!
Guess that's what I get for picking it up used.
I figured!! I never Buy Used!! Unless if it’s from one of My Buddies.. Also I always Research weapons before hand
It was such a good deal for a sig legion it was almost impossible to pass. I really like how it feels and shoots. One of my new favorites

Wait until the MIM slide safety disintegrates while firing that will make you spend more money on all metal guns
Have had mine for over 8 yr no problems !
Why do they not have a de cooking lever as Ruger pistols do?
It is not a double action gun.
