I've had a p938 for several years. After a few thousand rounds, no jams or tap throughs. Extremely well made, beautiful design. Feels great in the hand, easy to shoot. Little recoil I have the all black version with redwood handles. My permanent CCW. Highly recommended.

I’ve had my P938 since 2018 and never had a problem with it. I’m surprised to learn it’s no longer in production. I recall my county sheriff neighbor telling me: “You bought the best CCW out there. Get some good hollow points and carry the gun with you.” I heed his 40-years in law enforcement advice.

I got my 938 several years ago when I first started looking into ccw. It's what I used for my ccw course. It's not something I carry year-round, but I'm a small dude, and here in Vegas it's still my go to summer carry when it's like 110+ out and I just want something tiny to go with shorts and a t-shirt.

I carry my Sig P936 in a "Sticky" pocket holster, in my front cargo pants pocket. I use the 7 round magazine, but with a "MagGuts" mag spring to bump the round count to 8+1, w/o any more length. This little Sig does have night sights, but I added an "ArmaLaser" to make targeting easier under stress.

Great video, watched it twice. I appreciated the clear explanation regarding chambering and unchambering with the safty on. I have been carrying my 938 for close to 8 years. Love everything about this gun. I would suggest to anyone who has carried this gun for as long as I have to take a look at the main spring housing. Check the little nub that the sear spring locks in place with. Mine had worn off and as a result my sear spring had moved upward and rendered the gun unsafe, even though it would fire just fine. The issue was that one of the safety features was not functioning. Sig has upgraded the sear spring and main spring housing. They have made both beefier. All new parts fit first gen just fine..

I believe Sig still makes these technically. They have three P938 models still on their website as of July 2023, and I just picked up a P938 Legion brand new at my local gun shop. I haven't started carrying my P938 much yet, but I bought it after falling in love with the smaller P238 which I found myself carrying more often than my Glock 43x or Sig P365 X-Macro. I find both the P238 and P938 easy to shoot accurately despite their small size, probably because of the hammer fired SAO trigger. It's a beautiful gun with a great feel to it.

      Same here...
I am not a 9mm guy, but after THREE different P238s that were flawless, I tried the P938 and found it the best shooting gun that I have EVER shot (have owned/carried for almost 50 years), although the one that I bought (used) would jam with EVERY magazine...
I returned it, several months later, found another used one...
THIS one doesn't have quite as good of a trigger (I suspect that the first one had a trigger job done on it), but is still super nice to shoot...
I still carry mostly 380s, but sometimes, the P938 finds its way to my waistline...

First 30 seconds of this video summed up my thoughts. Recently got a sig 1911 scorpion and love it, but it's way too heavy for me to carry. I ordered a p938 Legion today as I like the form and function of a 1911. I will say I do own. A Kimber micro 380 and it's been flawless, but looking at the 9mm version they are getting pricey and I hear the quality has dropped as well. The 938 was a no brainer. I also carry a 365, but I really prefer a single action trigger. If the 938 conceals as well as the little kimber micro 380, I will be in heaven.

@@855LeeHillBilly so for me the main issue with the 938 is the lack of a solid guide rod, and sig not fixing the problem of it eventually coming apart and flinging itself down range if your not vigalent about making sure it is screwed in. Their fix is putting red lock tight on it which is not somthing they do from the manufacturer unless that’s changed. Honestly if the guide rod was solid it’s prob my fav micro 9mm, all metal frame, basically a small 1911. All be it expensive though. Maybe the micro 9mm trend is ending.

One of my favorite small 9mm CCW pistols. I purchased the FDE Emperor Scorpion model with factory TB. Never had a malfunction and very accurate. I have fired the pistol with a suppressor (Banish 45) and didn't have any malfunctions either. I don't carry cocked and locked but have used SA revolvers my entire life and can draw and cock the hammer like second nature. I prefer safety off, hammer at half cock. I typically carry mine in a Galco OWB belt holster. I value precision, reliability and accuracy highest in my CCW handgun which is a good way to describe the P938. Unfortunately, most people nowadays are interested in pistols that holds the most rounds and the P938 just is not it.

My cliche' is "It get's me to a bigger gun". I agree with all your talking points. My main reason that keep coming back to this gun is small size. I've not found anything that can be as small but still have that comfortable 9/11 feel. I carry in my pocket. It sits in a very flat profile. My #2 reason I like it is safety. I can carry it condition 3 hammer down and feel safe with SAO. I also use the liberty self defense 9mm 2000 fps frangible ammo with less recoil. Won't over penetrate.

I have a p938 I got back in 2012. Had to get it through ppt (California, and I missed the deadline on the single shot exemption shops that were doing that for customers ) I’ve easily put 3000 rounds through it now. Two things I ran into 1. The guide rod tried to unscrew itself (fixed with a lil blue loctite, never happened again.) and 2. The pesky issue with chambering one from a full mag then releasing the mag, that next round creeps forward, won’t affect it running, but if it’s not oiled, the top round will fall out..not a big deal, but it bugs me. Otherwise it’s amazing. Only next best option would be the p365 ( and I can’t get one/won’t pay the off roster inflation of 1500.00)

Since paying for a trigger job to fix the hammer follow, and gluing the plastic bases to the tubes on the 7-rounders, no issues for the last 2k or so. Can't too highly recommend the Cylinder & Slide thumb safety, which makes operation of the safety much more positive.

  • @oldtanker4860

I have a 938, The one with the rubber grips as the wooden grips make the gun a little too hard to control in firing. The rubber grips are great for keeping a stable hold. I have had to replace the guide rod and then the slide as the small ledge that bears against the recoil spring at the front of the slide broke off rendering the gun unusable, I love the size. IMO and I do mean opinion the Springfield EMP is a better carry option due to more gripping surface and it holds 9 +1 rounds. Mine has been very reliable and accurate. It is only about 1/2 inch longer in the slide and about 3/4 longer in the grip. It is heavier due to the bull barrel but is also less "snappy".

I "bit the bullet" and got the Legion version of this, after 2 shooting sessions, zero issues so far. I'm thinking about getting a couple more mags but I was thinking about the non-Legion ones, with the longer baseplate that matches the grip, instead of stopping a 1/2" short in back. Do you think they will fit?

I own a P938 and I'm not sure why? Operator error I suspect. When I pull the trigger since it hinges at the top, my finger seems to slide down and the recoil from the shot pinches my finger between the trigger and the trigger guard. Strange but true. I've not shot many rounds through the P938. Mine is a Tan one with their Laser sight. So, instead, I've been carrying a Canik 9mm which is a large frame.
