    To do a thorough job ,remove the seat. Super simple, one screw at the back of the seat, grab the back and pull toward the front of the bike and lift. Always nasty under the seat. Side covers should also be removed.

    I love detailing barn bikes, absolute treat to detail. Nice touch with WD 40 on steel wool. Most forget to put that or polish on the wool and make scratches. I would suggest a motorcycle jack so you can get the wheels without having rolling the bike. Saves time and energy. You need to also remove the side covers and seat to really get into chasis ( trust me, makes all the difference when you clean the chasis) and also pig spit. The most prominate part of the bike is the engine so shine that sucker up

    You don't use SOS pads on chrome. You use Steel Wool Grade #0000. Makes it look perfect.

      Plus the SOS pads scratch finishes because of the their abrasiveness surfaces.

    Nice video, I’ve picked up a few things from this video. Only thing I would invest in if I were to do this regularly, is a motorcycle lift. And probably take the seat of. It’s most often 1 ore 3 bolts. Gives you much more space at the tank and you can clean the underside of the seat.

    About 20 years ago or so I worked at a used tire shop. What we used to clean white walls with was simple green, or you can use whatever you want, and we used a flatish rock to scrub the white walls. Turned out like new every time.

    Years ago when white walls were very common I always used a brass scrub brush and all purpose. If you get ones with ground in black marks this won't take out using lacquer thinner on a rag will really whiten them up, just be careful not to get white from the rag on the rest of the tire.

    Looks great. I would have removed the seat also and sprayed the black engine parts with pig spit. It really makes the engine pop. After it's washed, try lemon pledge to shine it. Spray it on and wipe it off. Then buff it with a clean, dry rag. I think it shines better than wax and use it as a waterless wipedown in between details.

    I have a Honda Shadow with biiiig white walls.
    The best thing i have found is actually a stiff brush and toothpaste, sounds silly but brake cleaner and other strong chemicals just degrade them, toothpaste does not! And they get COMPLETELY white!

  • @billcarson1966
    @billcarson1966 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Black Magic Bleche-Wite for the white walls. You can find it cheap at almost any auto parts supply store, Walmart, Target. Apply on CLEAN, DRY tires, not wet. Scrub with stiff bristle brush, SOS pad, Scotch Brite pad (I use 0000 steel wool bc it won't hurt the chrome) and rinse off. If your tires are really dirty or dull, you'll probably need to do it two or three times. I keep my tires maintained so I only have to do it once. Makes any quality tire, like Dunlop, VERY bright white again. Some cheap white wall tires won't come back to a bright white no matter what you do. It has to do with their manufacturing process, not the chemicals or how hard you wash them.
