Thanks Scott. My sister and I just began our hiking and backpacking journey in 2023. You’ve been a driving force for us to get out of our Dana Point abode and get out there. Love this and look forward to doing this hike real soon. Little Lakes Valley trail had quite a bit of snow a couple months ago but seems cleared out now 👍
@@carollansen2810 it was amazing! We spent the night camping at Gilbert lake, woke up in the morning and hiked to Heart lake, that’s as far as we went, came back and fished flower lake, caught a beautiful brook trout. And headed down in the afternoon. The only sucky part was we packed Too Heavy! I was sore for a couple days after. But I’ve been bit by the bug so now I have upgraded all my gear and got some dehydrated food for next time 😊 I actually want to go again this weekend but I’m scared of all the fires and stuff…I don’t wanna get stuck in a bad situation
I'm heading up to Kearsarge Pass tomorrow with 2 of my buddies, Thanks to you and your videos I know where to go and what to do! I really appreciate these uploads Scott. Have a great holiday weekend.
Love the scenery! You hike so well- wish I had the joints and stamina I had when I was your age. Now I'll take shorter hikes (with poles) but no overnights. Thank you for letting us hike with you virtually! 🥰
My favorite area up and over Morgan Pass. My father-in-law took me into this area back in the 80s and he had been going into his secret camps back in the 50s.
Love watching your videos, especially the Sierra Nevada ones. We're headed to Echo Lakes for a 6 day/ 5 night backpack 9/23-9/29! Hoping the weather is still nice...it was the only week my friend coukd get off! Keep inspiring us, you & hour family rock!! ❤️
I really appreciate your enthusiasm and resilience. I too feel that the Sierra Nevada have few equals in this world. I am currently living in Chile, which is also pretty spectacular, but I have yet to find that feeling that the Sierras gave me during the approximately 50 years that I backpacked there. A driving force every year that I lived in California was to go on one to two, seven to fourteen day trips into that awesome backcountry every year. I really miss it. I have followed your videos for a few years now and congratulate you on the variety of presentations that you have used. They just keep getting better.
Thank you so much 😊 I can imagine you have great memories and stories of your adventure into the Sierra backcountry. I’m having more fun making videos now than I ever did - many more to come!! 🙏 🏕️
50 years ago I hiked the same area. The scenery in your video took my breath away and brought back memories of my hike, such as catching and releasing golden trout, my faithful Irish setter with his little backpack, and a late night snow storm. OMG, I forgot how spectacular the scenery is. Thanks for sharing.
I always wondered what the landscape looked like behind that mountain I gaze at when camping at Crowley BLM. Now I know :) Thanks for another great video!
Another amazing video, I agree 100% it’s the best place on earth 😊 I’ll be day hiking that trail for the first time in Fall and I can’t wait, looks so incredible 😍
The scenery is spectacular! Thank you for sharing, I'm heading there in the Fall. Your videos are just gorgeous and the joy that you feel whenever you are out in nature is highly infectious, you're like a kid in a candy store! 😆
This is a gorgeous hike. We just did Gem lakes a few weeks ago. We didn't go up over Morgan Pass, so I am looking forward to seeing more of this area. 👍🏻
Little Lakes Vally (through which Rock Crk flows) is the most beautful Eastern Sierra bang for the hiking buck. Mosquito Flat pkg lot where you left your car is one of the highest paved roads in the Sierra (10,000ft) . A close rival is Horseshoe Meadow way back south out of Lone Pine. The relatively flat Little Lakes Valley trail is one thing, but getting out of the car at 10K and huffing down the trail can be challenging to the unacclimated, which is most people. Your Timelapse of your camp during the night was GORGEOUS.
A fellow photographer and I hiked up to Long Lake earlier this month for some Milky Way shots at Long Lake, no better foreground than the Eastern Sierra. Still night with a perfect reflection of the Milky Way in Long Lake.
Your solo trek through the Eastern Sierra looked absolutly amazing! The views of Little Lakes Valley and the climb over Morgan Pass were just stunning. Spending the night under the stars with the Milky Way above must have been such a special experience. Thanks for sharing this beautiful adventure - it’s definitely inspiring me to plan a trip out there!
Thanks for sharing such an amazing place. I could hike in the Sierra every day and it would never get old to me. The feeling that envelops me when I’m there makes me feel like I’m home.
@@Sheety33 absolutely! Just went up with my wife yesterday for a short hike to Fresno Dome. We only live about 45 mins away from the Sierra so in our decade together we have been all over the place. Henry Coe State Park is another gem of a park in California. Spring there is absolutely unbelievable with the wildflowers. It’s 87,000 acres and it’s so easy to get away from everyone. Highly suggest! Went there a few years ago and then was so impressed I went back twice this spring.
Hello Scott, thank you for sharing this beautifully filmed video. The Eastern Sierras are my favorite. Do you have have another channel, Sheety 33? Stay safe out there and keep up your great work. 😅
Did your sleeping pad not come w a patch kit? We went camping beginning of the month and i found out my sleeping bag was meant for a insulated pad under me, not just an air mattress so one night was super cold. Used a spare sleeping bag under and it helped. How light is your load out again? It seems pretty ultra light or just the bare necessities. Beautiful videos as always.
It came with a repair kit but the hole was right on the seam, making a field repair impossible. Luckily the company sent me a new one no questions asked!
@@Sheety33 Ahh ya hard to repair a seam with a patch I guess. If you still have it, maybe an Iron or something can melt / weld it? Anyways keep up the awesome videos as always. You ever consider being a guide on these trips?
You've inspired me to do this hike! Will try to get a reservation in september before the cold picks up. BTW you said there is no fish at Gem lake? Why is that?

Did the Rubicon trail in Desolation last week. Had it to myself. Great weather

Yes! And in my shoes, too!
Scottyyyyy how do i avoid attitude sickness 😊
Hydration, electrolytes, fitness….is what I think works for me! :)
That's a lot of snow. I take that you completed this trip in June or July?
June of this year 👍
Great Video, just a question: at 7.26 in the video, is someone saying you okay?
Thank you! Not that I can recall ;)
@@Sheety33 thanks for the reply. Watch the video and listen at the 7.26 mark.the closed caption even picks it up.
You do the things I used to do. I love hiking but at 77, I can no longer hit the trail. Are your wife and child going to hike with you again?
Yes, we hiked several times this summer…so many videos to edit and post 😊
Why didn't you patch your pad? Was the leak not field repairable?
Leak was right on the seal…no chance of a field repair.
How did you take that long timelapse?

Fishing any good?
It’s not bad - had luck at chickenfoot lake a few years ago.

June

Yes, you do! Anywhere in the Inyo requires a permit.

Yes, as long as you don’t leave food behind ;)
