ok, Aussie here, so forgive the ignorance...and I am only a couple of minutes in...what about BEARS???? Beautiful countryside, the colours are so different to what we have Down Under would love to see it on day- God willing- thanks for sharing and posting this! truly appreciate the hike!
Only Bears you will find are the skiddish black bear. The only really dangerous bear you will find is a mother black bear with cubs but this time of year they arent as common to come accross. Yes you should bring bear spray, but it isnt as dangerous as you think.
Hey Scott great video! That was me and my friends in the video.Sorry if we were too loud or anything. I posted a video on my channel of our trip. You did a great job on the cinematography and narration, me and my friends can’t wait to go camping again.
Greatly enjoyed your new video. I love that part of the Sierras because it reminds me of my uncle who backpacked all over the Sierras in the 1950’ s. I grew up watching his slide shows of the mountains and lakes of the Sierras. He shot with a Leica in those days. Top notch video and thanks again Scotty.
What an amazing video! It was the perfect combination of the spectacular Eastern Sierra scenery, the vibrant fall colors and the best camping spot! This made my day. Thanks Scott!
Thank you for spoiling us with this amazing video. I have watched hundreds of hiking videos, this one takes the top spot. Thank you for introducing us McGee lake and hike.
Great video yet again, Scott! I haven’t been able to backpack due to health reasons, I look forward to your adventures!! I can’t wait to hit the back country again.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful video and all the information regarding Mcgee creek trail. I was camping just 5 miles away from the trailhead two weeks ago and I passed Mcgee Creek road several times. I have no knowledge about this trail and haven't seen any video about this trail before, so I didn't pay much attention to it. Now I know. Thank you again.👍👍👍
I became obsessed with the Sierras a few years ago, so much so that I moved into them this year. I've watched a lot of videos on them but yours are like nothing I've ever seen before! Jaw-dropping views and colors, even through a screen. Love love love what you do and so grateful to have found your channel 💚
I did this exact hike in September. Hiked it solo and had the most amazing camping spot on Big McGee Lake with no one else near me. This video confirms what I found in my own videos and photos - they truly can’t capture the epic majesty of this canyon - you really have to see it in person!
When you said do all the things you want to do because you might not be able to do them and do good things for other people, I couldn’t agree more. That’s what it’s all about, man! Love the video, one of your best ones yet. The Eastern Sierra in the fall is incomparable!
Thanks for sharing. I was supposed to be at the same spot today and had to cancel plans at the last second. I appreciate being able to see the fall colors through your lens
Wow- gorgeous fall colors!! I've never seen it quite this vibrant. Maybe due to the rain/snow last winter? I sure hope we get a lot again this winter. Thanks for sharing!! ❤
Gorgeous video! I was just there day-hiking for 11 days straight and I completely lost steam before I could do Big McGee. Thanks for allowing me to live vicariously through your adventure.
Thank you so much for this. Your orginal McGee video was how I your channel a couple years back. I was actually thinking of contacting you to see if you could go again then this comes up. McGee has a special place in my heart, my family has been going up there every year since my grandfather was a child until we moved to Texas. For awhile my family was able to swing flying me out alone so I could still go with my grandparents until I started college. It was only a couple years ago I was finally able to go again with my then girlfriend and I proposed perhaps 4 miles from the trailhead. I had planned to make it all the way to the lake, but my now wife didn't have the experience to make it that far. We have a son now though, and I can't wait until we can take him up there. That's alot of rambling to just say thank you, seeing that valley again means so much. It's where my heart will always be.
@@Sheety33 On a side note, have you read "The High Sierra: A Love Story" by Kim Stanley Robinson? He's a science fiction writer by trade, but he's a man in his 70's who's spent decades taking long trips in the Sierra with friends and the book is a memoir of his time there. He also looks at the geologic history, native history, modern history, and the influences the Sierra has had in the arts. It's quite a read and I felt more attuned to the Sierra after reading it, even here in Texas.
Was in the Eastern Sierras just over the weekend. It was beautiful! I won't call these creeks reliable sources though. Overcrowded regions and lots of human waste make for breeding grounds for diseases. I recommend you carry your water (I always carry 6 liters backpacking) or at the worst case, boil your water.
@@Sheety33 cool, i was at Crowley Lake last week, I wish i would know the McGee pass earlier to see that beautiful fall colors. thank you for such great clip.

Nice colors. I just got back from Desolation and it was getting down to 28 F at night
It’s getting chilly out there!
Looks like you timed it perfectly for the fall colors. Nailed it.
I got so lucky! Had no idea I would see any fall color this early 🍁
What a fantastic episode man! Absolutely flawless cinematography, your shots and narration are flawless!
Thank you so much 😊
Sooo good

Fall colors look very nice
So great, would have been nice to see a campfire but I guess not allowed in that area at that time of the year.
Agree, unfortunately no campfires allowed
I did this same hike in the ˋ80ś also alone.
I love your videos. I think it would be awesome if you set up an Amazon storefront with the equipment you use.
I appreciate that! I may look into it. 😊
you hit the jackpot bro ! those are stunning fall colors. when was the hike?
I sure did! Last week of September
You probably never been to michigan, amazing fall color. Especailly in the UP
I need to get up there!

Hello Scott. I was just there couple weeks ago. Same spot and it was amazing!!
One of the best camp spots!!
OMG!!! 15 miles all by yourself!! It must have been terrifying..................
Utterly terrifying….was quaking in my boots!!!😅
Hold the phone… you brought wine!
You betcha! 🍷
What kind of watch are you wearing?
Apple Ultra 2
what time of year was this??
October
May we ask what model of watch do you use please? Is it easy to navigate?
Apple ultra 2!
How to get an overnight permit?
Planning on a similar trip next year 2025. What was the time frame of your trip, late August, September, or early October? Thank you
Late September
have you ever encountered threats either 4 or 2 legged?
Not really - I guess I’ve been lucky!
The difference between a Guide and a Master Guide is when they break out a vintage bottle of Bordeaux wine on the 2nd day with stemware.
😂
Unexpected fall color? Right.
😊
Foliage is not pronounced “Foiliage” sorry not sorry for being that guy
I’m still learning English
