Joey, this message is for YOU. I am SOOOOO effing happy to see you back here! When you disappeared, I was saddened deeply and missed all those outstanding vids you gave us over the years... many years. I remember that comment you made about "all the things you were told were lies", or something to that effect. Yes, it hurts when our heroes turn out to be imperfect after all. Joey, you are a gift to youtube. You carried me through the lockdowns and I watched all your videos, most of them several times. Your sense of humor is appreciated, as well as the technical excellence with which you present each video. All pertinent details of all your treks are covered, with no fat. Just meat and potatoes from Joey Coke! I wish there was a way to repay you for the entertainment you have provided me here, but suffice it to say that I send you a heartfelt thanks for what you have done. Please continue and don't let the bastards get you down!
I am so grateful to see u doing what you do best - painting your masterpiece on the trail.. u really make your own path - it’s a joy to watch u do your magic!
What a treat! Stunningly beautiful. Nowhere on earth is as glorious as the Sierra to me. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for not putting music to your hiking video. I love to hear the wind, the water, bird song and boots crunching on the trail! It’s so rare to find a videographer who understands that Nature’s songs need no “improvement”.
I have missed your channel, glad you are back. You are simply one of the best at this and the world is a better place for you having this channel up. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, what a great adventure. Enjoy how you plan on the fly, your knowledge of the area and confidence in handling the unknown. I also appreciate no in-video commercials. Thanks for all your hard work that goes into posting videos.
Hey Joey. You're the genuine article. Missed you a lot. I love ALL you videos. Love the way you narrate your trips making each of them personal to the viewer. Makes it feel we're on the trip too guided by you. Please keep them coming and thanks for the stellar work!
So glad to see you post again! Nice at the same time seeing you on Cat's channel. I also just started this video and heard South Lake. I hiked from Lake Sabrina to the Tyee Lakes, ending up by Parchers Camp. Walked down the road toward South lake when my father picked me up. I was 18 and it was September of 1980. I'll never forget the trip and need to get back. Retiring next August 1st of 25.
So glad to see you back on TH-cam Joey. You have been missed . Enjoyed seeing you on Cats channel. I've been watching Cat since the beginning of her channel. Your channel is educational and enjoyable as is Cats. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Welcome back to youtube Joey - missed yah! I'll echo the "awesome trip" comments, you do a great job bringing me, or the viewer, to these wonderful area's. Watching your old videos of the Yellowstone Thoroughfare area and the source of the Yellowstone river has made me want to get to those area's. Only hope I can some day. Hope you do some more Wind River trips. Thanks for the content!
Awesome Joey! Just a gorgeous hike. Loved the amount of water flowing. I guess 2023 had a lot of snow. So glad you are back on TH-cam. You are one of my favorites. Missed you. You are a stellar presence. i would re-watch videos you made because of your narration, photography and trip planning. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Hey it was nice to meet you guys in the Beartooths! Sorry you caught me at the end of a very strenuous 24 hours, I don't even think I slept that night and most likely smelled terrible lol. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip and have many more to come!!
@@MyOwnFrontierThank you! It was beyond amazing meeting you and Catherine! It was the highlight of our trip, for sure! We honestly didn't notice you smelling bad at all. 😆 We had a great rest of our trip. The Beartooth Mountains are so awesome. We were actually scheduled to hike the Beaten Path trail that day, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel. And if we hadn't canceled, we would have missed seeing you two! What are the odds?! The timing was so cool! Thanks again and have a great day! Safe travels! 🏔🏕🥾🌠
Would love to hike along with you except I am 78 years and would have to stop every 20 to 30 minutes just to sit quietly to take it all in. But your videos are almost like I am right there. Thanks so much for your years of top notch videos Joey. Its really good to have you back.
Joey, it is great to have your adventures/trips to watch again. I have been watching since the early days when you would sit with a beer in a room and discuss the trip which was about to be shown. I backpack often and find your videos the most interesting for me - you have a great mix of what makes up the trip from map discussions, campsite views, cooking items/food and trail views. I was last in the Sierras in early October (about the same time as this video I believe), I wished I could have ran into you to say hello. Perhaps I will one day. Again, thank you for taking the time to put out the best backpacking videos ever!
Thanks for your feedback, love hearing this! Trying to keep it real! Bringing back that ole style too, hope you like what's coming! Happy trails my friend, maybe our paths will cross one day........ 🤘👽😎
Love the way you present your journey, very relaxing, well-narrated, no stock music. I hope to see the High Sierra for myself for the first time next summer.
Thanks Joey!! My wife and I have loved your content!! The last couple years have been a real joy. You and Harmen Hoek are my two top dogs!! Thanks again for the great adventures, we felt like we were there.
So glad you are back! South Lake, North Lake, and Lake Sabrina are gateways for backcountry off-trail walks and mountaineering adventures. My favorites besides Ansel Adams/Minarets and The Palisades out of Big Pine. Great views of the north end of the Palisades hiking towards Bishop Pass. Agassiz is still on my bucket list. Missed your videos! Sallie Keyes Lakes. Camped there to climb Mt Senger long time ago. Almost forgot until you reminded me. Welcome back!
Joey, much love. Your videos are simple and unpretentious in lands needing no other frills to show their magnificence. A lifeline for those who aren't able to live the life. Hope to see more. Safe adventures.
Just phenomenal. You're like a warm breeze with an amazingly steady pace, the ease and freedom I feel watching you is second to none. Thanks for doing your thing and so graciously sharing 🙏
Wait! I'm a total newbie here and this was my very first escape into wonderland with Joey. May I first convey my appreciation for the quality of adventure, and the generosity of effort and sharing of this. This is just downright soothing for the soul, and my first (selfish) thought is... where are all those other years of videos from Joey?!?! I badly wish to see any of them. In any case, nobody could have enjoyed the "view" any more than I, and thanks again for that!
It's amazing what you do. So many people get lost and die and or disappear never to be seen again and you just hike on effortlessly, Amazing! Good Work 😊
Rode my bicycle up and down that grade hundreds of times. Memories. 0:26 to 9k alt. And of course hiked entire region for decades. Vid is inspiration to get back to the High Sierra backcountry.
Wow Joey, what an absolutely stunning video, the Sierras are so beautiful, and your knowledge of the mountains, passes and lakes is incredible. I will be watching this video again and again, thank you!
If there is a reflection of Heaven you found it! Epic! It brought a tear to my eyes. I’m 72 and I’d like to still maybe make it to the Kings Canyon area as I’ve never hiked that far south. Definitely beautiful thanks, thanks Thanks!
So happy I found your channel. Love the hiking and your commentary while hiking. I really appreciate Not having to watch you make your meals or endless cups of coffee. Best channel I’ve found with beginning to end content. Great job sir!
I believe it was an avalanche that took out that bridge over the S Fork San Joaquin. I was in the same area a month before you filmed this and went up Goddard Canyon, to lake 10,232, through Finger basin and over Finger Col down to Cathedral lake. We exited through Red Mountain Basin and Mosquito Pass. Fantastic area! Glad to see you back on TH-cam!
I'm a new fan of MyOwnFrontier Channel! very impressed with your adventure, sir! I see in the comments he used to have more of a presence and had taken some time away. We would love to see and learn more, Joey! Can't Wait!
Joey, as someone from Ontario where elevations rarely exceed 1000 feet, if I did this hike my brain would be leaking out of my ears and I would've coughed up at least one lung getting to Bishop's pass. Good to see you again!
Good to see you back. Just like so many others pleasantly surprised to see your post. Really cool little adventure especially making some of your route up on the fly. All your years out there and experience made this hike look easy and almost effortless. When in fact hiking in the Sierra for multiple days over many passes through high elevation is serious business. Great work. Thanks!
I love that part of the Eastern Sierra. I once hiked from North Lake to South Lake via the Lamarck Col, which followed a lot of the trail you hiked. Wonderful wonderful video!!
Thank you for taking us on your tour. Great video and wonderful nature. I'm from Germany and visited Sequoia and Kings Canyon in September and was very impressed by the great nature
Beautiful! I did the JMT in 2021. I miss those mountains, and during the hike, I never thought I would say this, but I can't wait to be on that trail again. Thanks for sharing, you gave me another boost of inspiration.
Haha, those mountains will get ya! There's something special about the sierra that can't be explained, but everyone who's been there knows what I'm talking about. Even with all the people on the trail, it is such a peaceful, energizing place!
Some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen in my life. Absolutely breathtaking camera work man. I would love to do this but I'm terrified of bears and big cats. Last time I did a 20 mile solo hike in the Redwoods I ran into a mommy mountain lion and her baby and I almost was killed. It's been 8 months since my last thru hike, I'm shook.

I enjoyed your trek and your leaving the trail now and then is more adventurous than I would be. But you had it figured out and it took you places off the beaten path. I've thought of trekking the J.M.T. for a long time but never have. You've piqued my interest all over again and maybe someday, I'll try it. Keep trekkin. Oh, and your attitude is second to none! Keep up the positivity. It made the whole trip much more enjoyable.
Thanks! The Sierra and JMT are just an awesome place to go walk and enjoy earth! Definitely give it a try if you can, it is so awesome on the soul out there! 😎
Dude I am so glad to see your videos again man. I love everything about your content. You were one of the original inspirations for me to get into backpacking and it is so awesome to see you again alive and well enjoying the outdoors. Thanks for all of this man, you really made a huge positive impact on my life. I hope everything is going well for you brother. Cheers!

Love watching and learning from your vids. I take notes so I may some day create my own hike if I can just beat the cancer.
I have missed your channel, glad you are back. You are simply one of the best at this and the world is a better place for you having this channel up. Thanks for sharing!

Appreciate you sharing your adventure with us.

We would love to see and learn more, Joey! Can't Wait!
I really enjoyed your adventure, Joey! It was good to see some of the "off the main trail" scenery, as well as the familiar!
EPIC. Do this every year!
Joey, as someone from Ontario where elevations rarely exceed 1000 feet, if I did this hike my brain would be leaking out of my ears and I would've coughed up at least one lung getting to Bishop's pass.
Good to see you again!

Christmas came early. So good to see you back!❤
Wow, these are some amazing views you got here.
Breathtakingly beautiful views!! Thank you for sharing your hike with us!!
Stumbled onto this channel. I love it. Great content.
I'm glad your back and doing well. Another great video, best wishes
Thank you for taking us on your tour. Great video and wonderful nature. I'm from Germany and visited Sequoia and Kings Canyon in September and was very impressed by the great nature

I would love to do this but I'm terrified of bears and big cats. Last time I did a 20 mile solo hike in the Redwoods I ran into a mommy mountain lion and her baby and I almost was killed. It's been 8 months since my last thru hike, I'm shook.
Great to see your videos back my friend 🎉
Awesome video Joey. I live in bishop and was out there much of Late October and saw no-one for 5days 7days total. Your video was so well documented and such a pleasure to watch! I was on the edge of my seat wondering if you were going to miss that trail junction. I know the sign is missing and many people miss that trail junction. Amazing you saw people out there. Two weeks later than this trip you did, it felt like I had the whole wilderness to myself it snowed on me at Saile keys one night🙌 You got some epic shots btw of granite park and granite bear pass! You can shortcut to Marie lakes over granite bear, through bear lakes basin and down around Seven Gables peak from there you can follow an unmaintained "trail/route" to Lou Beverly Lake and Marie Lake is a stones throw from LBL.
I enjoyed your trek and your leaving the trail now and then is more adventurous than I would be. But you had it figured out and it took you places off the beaten path. Keep up the positivity. It made the whole trip much more enjoyable.
Thanks! The Sierra and JMT are just an awesome place to go walk and enjoy earth! Definitely give it a try if you can, it is so awesome on the soul out there! 😎
Awesome Joey! Thank God your back!
Image quality and landscape at 100%. Water is not a problem !
