Turn off dynamic resolution scaling. That causes fps to tank. I was hitting 140+fps on very high settings and then it would tank to as low as 70fps. (Not saying 70 is bad but that’s a drop in half fps)
@@dusnmatrYeah lets ignore the not AO on scenary props and the 70 fps on ssao between 67 fps on HBAO+ and 63 fps on XeGTAO. This also happened on spiderman remastered and nixxes fixed it.
@@federicogr3320 The higher grade your GPU is, the less impact AO performance will have. On my RTX 4090 going from SSAO to XeGTAO it went from 97 down to 94FPS. I may as well stick with XeGTAO as it shades smaller finer objects and objects with small gaps more accurately (such as the wheels of a cart pressing against the haystack of the cart which they didn't show here), SSAO just brushes this detail with a broad darkening stroke instead of adding shadow detail in the crevices and gaps.
I hope Alex or anyone at DF can go more in depth with the Ambient Occlusion. I fail to see a massive difference between the options based on the visuals he showed outside of the grass. At times during my playthrough, XeGTAO looked perfectly fine while SSAO Quality sometimes looks black crushed. HBAO+ is arguably the worst looking option despite being a better fit for this type of art direction due to what seems to be, in my opinion, a low quality implementation.

I’ve always wondered so far during the PS5’s life… does “checkerboard rendering” actually just mean Interlaced. The last gen games used that term a lot when configuring settings on pc. But not you hear the word checkerboard. Are they the same?
Couple frame rate notes: 1: The wind is coded and animated at 30FPS in the original game. Original game was 30FPS on PS4 and was never updated when ported to PS5.
