Ghost of Tsushima sword and bow is by far one of the most smooth and elegant weapons I have ever seen. It felt like the sword and bow were just so smooth and worked so well together. Usually games either have you use one weapon then the others in your arsenal but using the bow on horse back while fighting enemies is so satisfying and to jump off and go straight into sword combat is amazing. The game is really smooth when switching between the two weapons. Ghost of Tsushima is definitely one of the best games I had the privilege of playing.

If ghost of tsushima had a budget of $200+ million I'm sure their horses would have been more fleshed out, among a host of other improvements and additions that come with having Rockstar money. But I would hope not having rockstar crunch for their devs
Tsushima was set in 1200s and Ronin was in 1800s. It's crazy how little has changed from between those 600 years. 200 years after 1800 is literally now. It's crazy.
It's not ''literally'' now because we live 224 years later. Literally : In a literal manner; word for word. In a literal or strict sense. You can learn something new everyday pal!
One thing I love is Jin reaching his hands out to feel the high grass when he walks through it or when you're riding on your horse. And very good graphics with attention to detail, design and aesthetic will beat better graphics everytime. It doesn't apply here necessarily but it definitely shows up in comparisons like Arkham Knight to Gotham Knights
And even then, aren't all of the "supernatural" parts attributable to the hallucinogenic tea that the Mongol shamans start dosing people with? That's always how I thought it went. The introspective death trip, or the hellishly intense introspective nightmare, reliving a past event to overcome some personal obstacles. A common trope, but a good one!
@thebinarybiscuit The joy of it is that both explanations could be true. When something appears supernatural in Ghost of Tsushima, there is usually a logical explanation offered. But not all the time. Sometimes you're ledt wondering if there was something ever so slightly magical happening. The line between supernatural and logical is blurred so thin in Ghost, that both explanations can be right.

Honestly it reminded me of rdr2 because it’s the only other important horse death that I had to experience, and they both hit so hard because the player knows how much the horse has been through and that it is just an innocent creature forced into serving a human and dying because of the person’s actions

I’ve finished both and I liked both a lot. I feel like Ronin puts its focus more on gameplay and story (bc that is really good) while Ghost of Tsushima has got the overall package: breathing graphics, amazing gameplay and a great story! I finished Ghost of Tsushima twice or 3 times (on PS4 and on PS5) and I’ll get it on PC as well when it’s on sale. The variety (gameplay-wise) you can get out of both games is insane. In both games you’ve got different stances/fighting styles which is really cool. I don’t know if there are videos on TH-cam which compare the styles in the Rise of the Ronin to actual ones, but I’m really interested. I know there are some for Ghost of Tsushima and they are accurate.
@mhdirham2276 Allow me to disagree. FYI, I have played both games. RoTR i have completed till half and in GoT I have platinum. For additional background I have Plat in Sekiro and have completed Elden Ring, Lies of P. 1. RoTR has shit lighting. Textures are not that bad but the lighting sucks at almost all places. 2. RoTR the combat is just not exactly satisfying. Yes, it looks all good and glittery while looking at it but when it really comes to the implementation of it then its more or less the same (I have tried almost all weapon types). Enemies have crazy high forward momentum which pretty much kills the aspect of KEEPING YOUR DISTANCE. Yeah, there are some good things here and there but bad is bad enough to dull their shine. 3. RoTR has shit performance. IF I AM GETTING BELOW 60 FPS EVEN IN PERFORMANCE THEN YES U DESERVE HATE. I will however agree to following as well: 1. RoTR has well crafted world where different things, building and their placements makes sense and looks immersive if not for those shit graphics. 2. RoTR has implemented bonds and missions which allow bonds quite neetely. 3. RoTR has good storyline. (At least till the point I have played)
You can pet foxes, deers, and cats in Ghost of Tsushima and the foxes are so fucking cute. I believe you can pet the Mongolian dogs too with the special charm
I dont get all the hate for rise of the ronin. They're both very similar but also different. The graphics in ghost of tsushima is obvious better but I love the fact there character customization in rise of the ronin. So in my opinion they're both good it just depends what your in the mood for
From my Japanese point of view, "Ronin" is an action fantasy manga for young men with ninjas and samurai. On the other hand, "Tsushima" looks like a high-quality period drama film. Both are well accepted in the Japanese community, with "Ronin" being enjoyed as a manga game and "Tsushima" as a period movie game. There is not much conflict in the fan communities. (Deepl translation used).
I think they're both good at what they do. Obviously Rise of The Ronin seems a little bit "dry" and I'd recognise it as a game from 2017 ~ 2020, but I think each game fulfils its purpose somehow. Ronin seems more like a kind of game to mess around with like I did with ShinobiDo back in the Ps2 and Ghost of Tsushima for a cinematic, narrative and more immersive experience. I can't say about the mechanics because I haven't played Ronin yet though.
Rise has some impressive combat. The amount of stances and clothing options are insane. Both great games. Tsushima def takes the prize though, just because of quality and story imo.
While it looks like RotR look better on a fidelity level, I think Tsushima has a much better visual design. The bright, saturated colors, the shininess of the grass, the way sun spills through the trees, it all just feels so magical. Another thing worth noting is that arrows are very limited in GoT, and there's a time limit on how long you can hold the bow with it being drawn, after which your aim gets shaky and you are eventually forced to let go. It adds a little touch of realism that I really appreciate
when you emote to bow in front of a dead animal, Jin says something like "thank you for your sacrifice" or "I'm sorry". Actually same goes for dead villagers
Rise of the Ronin has insane gameplay and a combat as the comment above me mentioned. Ghost of Tsushima has better visuals in some aspects. It seems that The Rise Of Ronin doesn´t look too shabby either, and i´m sure a PC version will do the game more justice.
Yesterday I decided to get GoT, especially since it had released on PC, to me this game blew away expectations, the story is simple but sweet, the gameplay is very satisfying, it may be a bit simple and easy but it's honestly refreshing to play a game that isn't busting my balls in every fight. The textures are somewhat low quality but it doesn't bother me, this is one of the best performing games out there, it's very well optimised, I play the game at 2k resolution and I can't tell if it's ever dropped below 144 fps. You also stop taking notice of the low texture quality because the game's lighting is incredible, it feels like I'm watching a video rather than playing a game, it looks surprisingly close to real life.
@@PeterSkaOi at least i made that pic myself xd but if you put all anime industry in one bag named "bad" then i don't really have anything else to tell you...
both games look great. has their own unique touch to it but i'm more of a cinematic guy, so i'm more lean towards tsushima. ronin looks a bit more towards souls-like in terms of movement and combat, not to mention how it has its similarities with sekiro. i've also seen its combat gameplay where it is very dynamic and lots of movement and probably unrealistic which isn't a bad thing, the game definitely nails the atmosphere for that type of gameplay. the same can be said for tsushima

It's funny, because when they made Ghost, they were trying to capture the feel of being in an old Kurosawa film. That's why there are so many showdowns and standoffs. I still play it to this day.
That is to be expected. The studio behind RotR has a very different kind of focus than Sucker Punch. Graphics and level design have never been their forte, they are better at enemy design and combat design. When RotR was announced I immediately expected these comparisons because PS fans tend to be very, VERY, superficial with games. @@7dayspking it does it WAY better than any other game. The reaching is realistic, about 90% of the moves are realistic the only non realistic part are the shield blocks, stagger damage (it's realistic but not in this game) and parries. There's even video's about some pro sword fighters doing Jin's moves.
@@TheOGBaldski Bro. There's combat sports games, those are semi realistic. Ghosts of Tsushima isn't realistic. Ghosts of Tsushima is somewhat authentic to the fantasy of sword combat that's proposed in traditional Japanese martial arts. Idea of waiting idly, then sidestepping an opponent's first attack and making an instantly lethal counter strike is stupid outside demonstrations. Even dumber when you remember Ghosts of Tsushima, and the warring periods in Japan, were filled with guys wearing armour! Battlefields and sieges included missile units, artillery, mounted units, shielded units, barricades, trenches, tight formations of infantry with polearms and later gunpowder weapons. The basic slashes, the simple ones without the spins and theatrics are direct. The thrusts are stylized making them unnecessarily difficult to use, but not impossible. The basic blocking (holding block button), catching incoming strikes with the blade is one of the main ways to intercept incoming strikes, fine. The parries & counters that involve side stepping slashes are wishful thinking. And being able to consistently counter with a single, instantly lethal strike, on armoured enemies no less, is a fantasy. No distances. No movement. No timing. No defence. No combinations. No set ups. No feints. No variation in attacked targets, attacking angles or attacks. Just parry and counter, not reliable to manage consistently against someone actually fighting. Just looks nice in fake demonstrations. When people fight, everybody gets hit until one side lands damaging enough strikes, or a damaging enough strike to hinder the other's ability to fight. That's realistic. If you don't train for that, you're training a fantasy. unless you're training to develop armour to resist attacks.
@@7dayspkingdid you even play the game !? Do you ever trained with a tachi or katana!? I did, and movement is spot on, he is doing all kind of movements like cugiashi, tenkan, parries are spot on and counter downward and upper slash, swiping with a foot, armpit slash. Yes its more stylized to look like movie cinematic just to be more interesting, and game also has lethal combat, where everyone dies with 2 maybe 3 slashes. You are just oblivious or did not even play the game.
Le fait qu'il y ait la magnifique musique de Ghost of Tsushima dès le début et tout le long de la vidéo montre clairement de quel côté penche la balance ;)
its pretty reasonable, lots of smoke, little spread, then goes out. sure maybe its a humid environment with loamy soil, so probably wouldn't catch fire, but considering different types of green grass will burn whole hillsides this doesnt take much suspension of disbelief
the rain aspect depends on your gameplay if you play like a shinobi it rains more if you play as a samurai is sunny, now the grass is green on that one so it has a point.
It's honestly a shame people just aren't giving Ronin the credit it deserves in the comments or in general. For all the amazing work Suckerpunch has done with Ghost on a visual and story telling perspective, playing Ronin after years of playing Ghost is a bit of a shock to the senses for how much stronger it is as a game. So many more weapon stances and weapon types, and enemy variety within the first few hours than the entirety of Ghost while also having more unique bosses as well. Team Ninja remains painfully overlooked in a medium that pretty obviously prefers visual quality over mechanical depth. Ideally, Yotei would have gameplay to rival Ronin, but I don't think Suckerpunch will ever come close in that regard. Here's hoping we get another Rise of Ronin game one day.
На само деле ронин не так уже и плох, просто а Цусиме очень хорошо освещение сделано, благодаря чему картинка более глубокой кажется, а в Ронине как будто яркости перекрутили, может это можно исправить через панель фильтров Nvidia?
Having only played GoT on PS5, I’m amazed that it was a PS4 port. That’s incredible. Reminds me of the first time i saw the Pillar Of Autumn coming from PS1 to Xbox…. Night and day
The difference between American/Western made games and Japanese is that Western game devs strive for detail and realism. Japan isn't so concerned with realism, so oftentimes the games feel more arcady, snappy and linear in comparison. It's interesting that a lot of Japanese people say "I wish Ghost of Tsuchima was made in Japan” but given the different approaches to game-making between the two cultures, it wouldn't be possible for Japan to make something like GoT... as we can see above. Although, to be fair, Koei and Team Ninja are more used to making series like Dynasty Warriors where small detail takes a backseat to frantic, arcade-like, high speed gameplay.
Having these 2 games in the same sentence is insane. I can't believe people are defending Rise of Ronin, the game is so terrible, especially compared to GOT.
Very true. Rise of The Ronin looks and moves like some low budget garbage, but gets hyped like some "AAA quality". So many zombie fans like you have a very low bar in quality games these days. Ghosts of Tsushima is a very rare example of a masterpiece. Stay angry that your game is lazy garbage. ❤

Ghost is better in almost every visual category BUT i will admit he has his Ghost graphics are not at max tho but he has his Ronin graphics maxed. As soon as i saw the closeup of the faces i booted up my own game of Ghost and saw better lighting effects. I also saw pores and wrinkles and tons different details. In a real comparison i would say they are equal but Ghost slightly more due to its very accurate and gives you an authentic feeling and the devs did DEEP research into the specific details of that time period in almost every single aspect of the game. The deluxe came with a deep dive video behind the scenes of the game and they went beyond for this game so i love it
i had never even heard of rise of the ronin but it looks decent enough. i feel like the big difference is that the colors are much more vibrant in GoT.
As someone who has never played either, Rise of Ronin looks better. But Ghost looks prettier. Ronin has more of a movie quality about it, i think that can be down to the change in colour grading too. Overall better details and graphic in Ronin. Looking like a lot of comments people are stuck with fandom.

@@franciscor390nah it depends on the kind of combat you like. ghost has a somewhat realistic and grounded combat, while Ronin combat is fantasy and over the top.
Ghost of Tsushima is the best ex Playstation exclusive imo. Beautiful graphics, amazing combat, great story, phenominal sound design, and the setting is what people have wanted for so long. It's truly something to appreciate. Especially with how games are these day.
It's an open world game. Team ninja doesn't have a budget like got or lou. Nioh 2 looks graphically better than ror. But being an open world game. budgets get cut in different areas of the game. Nioh 2 looks better and is small open worlds. Ror looks not as good but is open world with tons more quests and more styles to different weapons.
The art direction in both games is stunningly different. I haven't played Rise of the Ronin (ROTR) yet but based on this video I can already tell that I might struggle getting through it knowing that it's essentially the same game as Ghost with much a less vibrant backdrop. That said, both games have their advantages and disadvantages, but Ghost seems to be the better overall package (though having a glider in Ghost would be awesome). One detail I didn't care for in ROTR is that he doesn't have a quiver. He's reaching back and pulling arrows out of the ether (or out of his ass). But in Ghost, Jin is carrying a quiver and you can actually see his inventory of arrows. And yes, being able to take them back from trees or on the ground is great since they're in short supply. From the looks of it, ROTR has unlimited arrows since there's no HUD to indicate what you're carrying and/or arrows remaining.
An illustrative example of how a game with arguably better graphics in general can still look inferior to and cheaper than a game with better lighting, weather dynamics, and color design.

i just realize the actor of ghost of tsushima is the "50 year old japanese man" in youtube. by the way, the ronin jerking the sword to clean stains before sheathing the sword is "symbolical" in samurai teaching. they warriors dont really have to or actually doing that fin real situations. also having the holster/sheath with the sword edge facing up like in the tsushima game is the more common in real world than the one in ronin. because when you sheath the sword back into its holster/sleeve without looking you have to make sure you wont cut yourself when you lining up the base of the sword with the holster's opening, when you 'floss" the sword on the holster opening's lip from the hand guard level all the way to the tip until it meets. you want to make sure the dull side(the back) touches with your hand and the holster tip, not the sharp edge. thats why than it will sheath back in facing UP. surprising that western developer sucker punch studio actually doing it more accurate.

Four years makes no difference right now in graphics and tech. RDR2 looks way better and it's even older. Visuals are more about the effort the devs are willing to put in now, not what year it is.

@mhdirham2276 Allow me to disagree.
I will however agree to following as well:
1. RoTR has well crafted world where different things, building and their placements makes sense and looks immersive if not for those shit graphics.
2. RoTR has implemented bonds and missions which allow bonds quite neetely.
3. RoTR has good storyline. (At least till the point I have played)

Ghosts of Tsushima doesn't manage realistic combat. It's very stylized, similar to western films.
If you didn’t know any better, you’d think GOT was made 4 years After ROR.
GOT got wrong with the fire when it came to live grass, especially considering it rains so much.
its pretty reasonable, lots of smoke, little spread, then goes out. sure maybe its a humid environment with loamy soil, so probably wouldn't catch fire, but considering different types of green grass will burn whole hillsides this doesnt take much suspension of disbelief
the rain aspect depends on your gameplay if you play like a shinobi it rains more if you play as a samurai is sunny, now the grass is green on that one so it has a point.
Japan is not California. A little flame is not going to grow into an inferno. It's too humid here. The flame will smother when the tip hits the dirt.

The deluxe came with a deep dive video behind the scenes of the game and they went beyond for this game so i love it
i had never even heard of rise of the ronin but it looks decent enough. i feel like the big difference is that the colors are much more vibrant in GoT.
I hope there is Ghost of Tsushima 2
I guess there will be
But i think jin won't be the hero again
I've read about a movie to be made.
@@BirgittFischerwhat if jin goes to Mainland and Dies fighting the mongols in end. This would make a great story😅
@@LuciTulceaI've read that the world's elite are all shape-shifting aliens, doesn't make it true
As someone who has never played either, Rise of Ronin looks better. But Ghost looks prettier. Ronin has more of a movie quality about it, i think that can be down to the change in colour grading too. Overall better details and graphic in Ronin.
Looking like a lot of comments people are stuck with fandom.
Is this the pc Version? Have you low Settings on? My ghost of Tsushima Looks better.
🤫 this for fair fights
Ghost of Tsushima is better than Rise of Ronin
but I think in motion GOT look more realistic
while RoR look like anime physics
that why I give the Ghost of Tsushima the win
I think GOT focuses on more grounded reality compared ROR where it's more over anime esque, hence glider.
in ghost u cant even wear a kimono so rise of ronin wins in outfit quantity and customization which is 10 times better than ghost of sashimi
@@dominiclaw9232ghost of sashimi 😭
I admit I don't normally get into open world games much but Ghost of Tsushima is one of the few I loved. Still hoping a sequel is in the works.
Ghost of tsushima is winning in every aspect... But i still gonna try to play ronin when it comes to PC, really love that character creation stuff
It doesn't win in combat.
Ronin destroys GoT in combat. It's not even on the same league.
It also has more interesting things to do with it's open world.
@@franciscor390nah it depends on the kind of combat you like. ghost has a somewhat realistic and grounded combat, while Ronin combat is fantasy and over the top.

@@thabangsibanda3282realistic😂😂😂😂 you know that in reality Mongols killed all samurai on Tsushima?
Ronin seems to have gone for more darker dimmer color shading, while GoT has gone for more poppy colors

Ghost of Tsushima is the best ex Playstation exclusive imo. Beautiful graphics, amazing combat, great story, phenominal sound design, and the setting is what people have wanted for so long. It's truly something to appreciate. Especially with how games are these day.
Rise of the Ronin = GTA Feudal Japan
Why Rise of Ronin looks like PS3 game in specific aspects? Is it just me?
it looks like RDR1 but for me it's fine i guess
It's an open world game. Team ninja doesn't have a budget like got or lou. Nioh 2 looks graphically better than ror. But being an open world game. budgets get cut in different areas of the game. Nioh 2 looks better and is small open worlds. Ror looks not as good but is open world with tons more quests and more styles to different weapons.
They don't understand art direction and lighting
How does GoT look inferior to ronin when it comes to graphics?? Do you have your eyes only for decoration lol
@@chocolateman2554 you have your brain and comprehending skills for decoration as I clearly implied that GoT looks better despite having worse textures. If you want to sound and look smart, remain silent - my friendly advice.

@@Jace.1sEditz oh shit, here we go again…

I had no idea you could take the arrows back in Ghost of Tsushima, tried a few times but nut never got the option. Maybe it only works on trees? Will have to try
There are certain charms in ghost of tsushima which allow you to have a higher chance in redeeming your arrow back.
Cool thing about the horse in Tsushima is also how it came close to you while you ran and the jump on it animation. Shame you didn't show that.
Close up the ronin graphics actually look better in many places, the game just has an overall less vibrant and grainy look which makes it feel like older games we know like nioh or sekiro
i just realize the actor of ghost of tsushima is the "50 year old japanese man" in youtube.
by the way, the ronin jerking the sword to clean stains before sheathing the sword is "symbolical" in samurai teaching. they warriors dont really have to or actually doing that fin real situations.
also having the holster/sheath with the sword edge facing up like in the tsushima game is the more common in real world than the one in ronin. because when you sheath the sword back into its holster/sleeve without looking you have to make sure you wont cut yourself when you lining up the base of the sword with the holster's opening, when you 'floss" the sword on the holster opening's lip from the hand guard level all the way to the tip until it meets. you want to make sure the dull side(the back) touches with your hand and the holster tip, not the sharp edge. thats why than it will sheath back in facing UP.
surprising that western developer sucker punch studio actually doing it more accurate.

Its stupid to compare, ghost of tsushima is the best ever
I'm going to be real about it: graphics aside, I've had more fun playing Rise of the Ronin than Ghost of Tsushima. At some point a lot of gossushima started to feel like I was just doing the same thing over and over again and, while that is definitely a thing in Rise of the Ronin, for some reason the gameplay loop actually kind of had me stuck on it for about two weeks straight before I broke away.
I haven't actually completed either game but I am nearly finished with RoR whereas I think I'm less than halfway done with GoT and completed Iki Island. I was hooked the moment they had me attempt to murder Admiral Perry.
Bro, for real. I've been playing Ghost for the past week, and the gameplay loop of "walk up to the enemy, kill 3-5 in a stand off, and perfect parry the rest" got boring after the first hour.
And the stealth mechanics are just easy mode. There's a reason Lord Shimura doesn't like dishonorable combat. It's too fuckin easy.
Rise of The Ronin is a bad joke, game looks like a ps3 title 😂😂
Rise of the ronin actually looks surprisingly good, people will bitch about anything crying as if its playing in pixels.
Literally everyone’s “defence” for not playing the game is that it looked like a “ps3 game” even though it looks pretty good and is clearly interested in gameplay and story
meat riding is crazy
ps5 game in 2024 and looks like that? Nah... it looks like a modded 2012 game.
Bought and played both. GoT is by far superior. Although I liked the gliding capabilities on Ronin. Wish Ghost would’ve had that option too. Especially coming down from Shrines. But that’s about the only thing I like more from Ronin. The blade spark timing was so hard to manage. Versus the Perfect parry on Ghost. I feel like Jin would kick “no name” “Blade Twin”’s ass in a duel! Haha.
Must’ve not finished the game 😂. I love jin but hed get recked.
Check the neck meat for the horse on Ronin bro! 😂
Huh
rise of the ronin looks like a game from 2013
