Parkour Stuntman Damages Building in Ancient City in Italy

- A stuntman injured more than himself and drew the ire of social media. Reports identify this daredevil as Devon McIntosh. He���s part of a British parkour team that likes to show their skills in action all over the world. This stunt was performed in the ancient Italian city of Matera, which was designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 1993. While trying to jump from a ledge to a higher point, part of the building crumbled under his foot. Inside Edition Digital���s Mara Montalbano has more.

As someone who lives in the San Francisco Bay area - I’d hate to be in that place when there’s an earthquake
The city has survived in an earthquake zone for more than 1000 years now. I'm sure all the really bad buildings already collapsed centuries ago. Matera is built on rocky ground so it's not actually as bad as San Francisco. Your problem is that most of SF is constructed on built up silt and former wetlands that will liquidify in an earthquake. You don't have to worry about your buildings failing, but the land under them failing and then bringing down the entire building.
You live in San Francisco. You should be more worried about a needle falling from a 3 story window into your arm.
Imagine comparing San Francisco to such a beautiful place as this.

Its a non essential part of a building who cares, stop living in the past talking about some ridiculous notion of respect. its fine desecrating tombs stealing artifacts and profiting from displaying what is not rightfully yours but chipping an already unstable ancient ruin is unacceptable. get off your high horses its pitiful. our cultures and the entire foundation of human nature is all about a lack of respect.

This is why you always need to survey the building's structure whether it is safe or not especially historical buildings. Given that this building is extremely old. It made sense that the brick which is just jutting out with no integral support beam will collapse when given enough weight to it.

I watch Storror and follow a bunch of parkour athletes and other extreme sports athletes and as a hobbyist myself, I'm upset at this guy. He's bringing negative reputation to the community. That's one thing professional and experienced athletes know - respect the spot and it's owners. I like how Billy Perry does it. If a security guard asks you to leave, you say sorry, maybe squeeze in one last try and leave the spot. You need to check the spot before committing to it. Imagine if a mountain climber just put faith into every hold they used without testing it before putting their weight on it.. parkour isn't much different.. they saw a ledge and thought it'd be cool, but I don't think they tested the ledge because it couldn't even hold the skinny dude's body weight.. and if you're not testing your parkour course, you deserve a twisted ankle and bruised ego..
