It is amazing how resin/epoxy has changed woodworking to make wood that would have been considered to be junk or firewood now to be extremely desirable and makes some of the most beautiful and fascinatingly stunning pieces. Love it. Electric Purple Haze.
This bowl is so fascinating! The more you look at it, the more you see. First glance I see fish skeletons in the pine cones, then I look again and some of the "petals" look like little birds in the distance. So many things to see! Then the wood looks like eyes, or on the inside some weird ghosts! 😄 I like it! Then you add the gorgeous purple epoxy and you have a work of art! Ya did it again, Jim! Congratulations!
Jim ,that is such a beautiful set of lidded bowls, the lilac wood was so gorgeous the pine cones added the next amazing element, then you used the purple colour and added just the right amount of white to turn the colour into the beautiful dark lilac shade. The way the resin settled among the pine cones really did indeed look to me as if they were lilac flowers. Truly an amazing piece of art, thank you for sharing this with us,loads of love to you and yours ,take care stay safe.😘😘💖💖🙏🙏
A couple rough moments there today. The piece is stunning. But again very informative, sets viewers up for all possibilities. I'm loving the changes of views you are giving. Adds alot to our enjoyment, what with the dancing!😂 Thanks again Jim
I so appreciate your narration. I love to know what you're doing and using each step of the way, and so many other turners do not share that. Beautiful work!
Don't be trippin dude! It's an amazing creation with the lilac wood and deep cast epoxy resin in purple. You continue to impress me with your skill and knowledge of the craft. 😎
An outstanding pieces of art sir. Love the look of the Lilac with the pine cones. A beautiful set indeed. The color with the white worked out great. Thank you for all your hard work, and thank you for sharing this post with us.🌿 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🕊
My favorite color 🥰🥰💟💟💜💜 I think this is by far my favorite of all the pieces you've made. 💯 I get winded just going up and down 13 steps times 3 loads of wash every other week but, then again in my mid 70's I'm out of shape. 😊😊 Please use these colors on another piece, just beautiful! 🥰😍😍🥰
Stunning pieces. I LOVE the way the pieces are so similar and yet individual. You are a true artist, with an eye for detail that sets your work apart and above others. Your display at the end truly shows just how spectacular these pieces are with the light from the inside making their beauty explode dramatically! Thank you again for sharing your talent. The person that commissioned these pieces is very fortunate.
Gorgeous bowls!!! 😊 Lilac has amazing character. Also enjoying the wide shots. It's very informative for seeing your turning technique. And of course, your dance moves 😆 Cheers.
You got me again. There I was just surfing and came across you again. Seeing what you must be really liberating. Watching as you turn your thoughts, by way of a time served skill and process into such beautiful objects must make your day seem so rewarding. I bet you can't wait to get up in the morning and get to it. A lot guys never get to find the secret of being happy, just doing what you love to do. Keep well.
Once again we love it. Wasn't to sure about the color choice (not really a purple person) but once it was finished Cindy told me not to judge it by the color until it's finished. Yes dear.
It's great, my friend, I wish to learn this work, but unfortunately, I live in Iran and as a 34-year-old girl, I don't have the necessary financial conditions to visit the course and buy the device, but I really want to be able to work to pay for my family. But life is very difficult in Iran. I enjoyed the beautiful work you did. Well done
Wow, what an absolutely fantastic piece!!! This is definitely one of my favorite pieces you've ever done! I love that you were able to get two lidded bowls out of on piece! Just brilliant, as always! ❤
This is a beautiful set of bowls. The hollow lilac is very unique and the color throughout the wood makes for some really neat images on the bowls. You are right and I agree about the pine cones, I like them, too, and I think they have their own unique images to add to the pieces you make. You have done another good video, thanks for sharing your art with us!
So glad you were able to utilize so much of the casting! I would’ve been a shame to lose it. The customer is sure to be ecstatic with it! Totally groovy and your dance was very cute!
I watched this with my dad and when you showed what happened to the lid, I turned to my dad and said watch, he's not leaving it like that, nope he's a perfectionist like you, the next clip will be either the fixed lid or him fixing it. And I was correct! 😂 It's a good thing. You are a master at your craft and a perfectionist and just can't let things pass that aren't the best of your ability and I respect that very much! My dad is the same. And it's a beautiful piece! I love when they have lids! That wood is so neat too. I've learned a ton about wood from you, and I basically knew nothing, or very little about wood so thank you so much!
First of all, this is not flirting. I'm way too old for you. I know you watch other turners. Don't you think that so many of them could benefit from your experience.
World Class Skills and the patience of A Saint!! “A thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever!” I’m a fan of the “white”. It’s reminiscent of Fluorite crystal. She’s a Keeper.🎖️
Lovely job Jim. Love how symmetrical it is with the lilac and the pine cones. I really love the black grain lines in the timber that just pops. Thanks for the advice on the resin last week and thanks for another amazing show, take care.
Watched this on TV. So not sure how it fits in with your algorithms. This really was lovely. She is a lucky lady to know you so you could make these lovely lidded bowls.
Hi 👋, Jim, I hope you are keeping safe and well, That look 👀 amazing peace, of ART , definitely 70s, I Customised a van at that time and the colour I think we should identical, I look 👀 forward to seeing your next project, Phil from the moulin
I always love watching the process. Cool that you're going to do something with the shavings. I've been wondering what became of them and if you ever reused them in your work. Love the happy dance. Those lids could almost be used as platters. Love the final results. Thanks so much for sharing your time and talents. Blessings on you & yours.
Groovy, baby! ;) Another beautiful project!! Great idea to add the pinecones as a space filler and amazing result of the rotten lilac infused with the epoxy. Also, another great color combination. It would be interesting to see if the color choices for your weekly projects track with Designer Epoxy's color sales the week after you put out the video.
Again another amazing piece. I love how you show all the problems and of course the fixes. I love the way you talk to us all as you would a friend. Thank you so much...keep up the fun work.
Wowsers, I remember all those '60s phrases like farm out, outa state, gravy! Very interesting pieces. The lilac wood and pine cones work well together and the smaller bowl came out better than many of your cored bowls do.
Two beautiful bowls!!! I love the effect of the epoxy filling the voids on the bottom of the larger bowl. I need to sort through my firewood pile. Surely with a little epoxy and a lot of creativity there is some wood in my waste bin that can be turned into a beautiful work of art.
30 inches of vacuum will peel the skin and muscles from your bones in a 3 inch pipe with a storage tank big enough to handle that vacuum. It is the same as being 200 feet below the surface of the ocean in a submarine. Very impressive how powerful vacuum is. Thank you, Jim, for the part about color separation in casting. I turned away from trying to get to 80° and went off of thickness. My colors stayed separated after 30 hours. That was my 3rd attempt. Either way, all of the information you give us is amazing and also saving me a lot of money in the long run! Thank you!! Just in case........Designer Epoxy
This design is really cool with the use of thè lilac wood and pine cone fillers with purple and white resin. They really pop, and I love it when you create more than one piece at a time. These are truly beautiful!!
Janet is sooooo lucky!!! I absolutely adore this. If you ever have any like this for sale I call dibs. Think this is my favourite piece you’ve ever made. Just awesome!! Enjoy Janet!
I keep saying insane so I need to find a new word but these pieces just keep getting wilder! I love the way the broken up wood turned out with the resin -- just super neat. Never thought of lilac as a wood for working -- but that was an experiment that turned out really well!
Wow! This bowl set is amazing! That Lilac wood is beautiful! I love it. The purple epoxy is the perfect color. Good man fixing that warped lid. That’s one of the things I like about you. You never let anything go if it’s not quality. Thank you. CR
absolutely gorgeous... Love that lilac wood against the purple resin... the hints of white really do a lot for it... and those pinecones... great additions...
You are the man Jim! Even with the obstacles you make it look easy. I love the Lilac and Crystal Purple. Thank you for all the details and explanation that you put into each video.
Those bowls are awesome. Purple is my favorite color. I used to do a lot of wood working when I was younger. And I love it. Especially lathe work. I love watching you make stuff. Thank you so much. Tom
It turned out a lot better after you were done. Also I thought the white was just fine. I guess your artistic eye caught what mine couldn’t. After you kept mentioning it, I realized it does look sort of like glue around the lid. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing artistry!! Beautiful wood/resin combo!!! Thank you for sharing the scary parts and how you overcame them!! You are truly an inspiration!! Keep dancing those little jigs!! I needed that smile!!!
Designer epoxy. Beautiful work. My vacuum chuck cracked the bottom of a 5/8" thick honey locust bowl. I now have different sized vacuum chucks. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks.
I grew up with a lilac grove, and I don't think I ever saw a trunk that thick, except maaaaaby right near the ground. Great starting piece of wood! I love that resin allows partly rotted pieces like this to be used, I love their fascinating inner structure that pieces like this get to show. The purple color with the lilac wood is delicious! And pinecones are the greatest! Such a fascinating pattern. This is one of my favorites, Jim! Your videos every friday are a highlight of my week. As for your dancing skills, well, anyone who has a job that makes them want to dance is a joy! Thanks for sharing it. For whatever reason, youtube keeps recommending your video "The Boxelder Burl Coral Bowl," so I see the thumbnail a lot. And am constantly reminded how much I loved that piece. Very different from most pieces I've seen.
It’s certainly the largest I’ve seen too. My wife grew up with a huge lilac bush in her front yard. I will look to see if there’s any large ones in there when we move. Thanks
Absolutely stunning, I love this wood resin combo. That small center core would make a beautiful lid for a small lidded dish or vase. Gorgeous Gorgeous project this week.....❤❤❤❤
The color really goes nicely with the wood. Great job. The dance made my sick nephew happy. Thanks for having such a personable personality. Hugs from the Nelms family.
Definitely a 70's vibe! I think I had shirt with that same pattern in high school!! Watching you conquer the challenges with this piece is very encouraging - it reminds me of the axiom: "Problems are just fixable complications." I LOVE the look of those hollowed-out lilac pieces. Thank you, Jim!
Just Ohoooo. Lilac is my favorite flower, bush, tree (I’ve actually seen a flowering 100 foot tall lilac. Always thought they were bushes though could be 20 feet tall). In those bowls, with that resin, it is amazing. And in my hometown they always bloomed on my birthday. So special to me. Another winner 🏆!!
Greetings from South Wales UK. I've been watching a lot of your work recently, I have to be honest I couldn't believe how wonderful your pieces looked after they'd been buffed and polished. Really wonderful. I have enjoyed watching how the various species of wood and resin go together. I'm no artist or wood turner so the technicalities are not useful to me but I do like how explain everthing you do so that people who are interested can give these project a try too. To me the pinecones in this looked a lot like birds in flight, the finish as always is gorgeous.
It is amazing how resin/epoxy has changed woodworking to make wood that would have been considered to be junk or firewood now to be extremely desirable and makes some of the most beautiful and fascinatingly stunning pieces. Love it. Electric Purple Haze.
Thank you very much!
😊
I laughed out loud at your little dance! I love how you share your personality with us. Beautiful pieces, as always!
😊 thank you
This is one of the most amazing sets I've ever seen. Perfect blend of wood and Epoxy, grains and colors.
Wow, thank you!
This bowl is so fascinating! The more you look at it, the more you see. First glance I see fish skeletons in the pine cones, then I look again and some of the "petals" look like little birds in the distance. So many things to see! Looks like a fidget spinner. very cool. The white paint coated the pine cones to make it look like snow settling in the pine cone layers. Loved it!
Thanks so much!
Lovely set. Love how the lids match the bowls. Really like how the white high lights the areas of the pine cones and the lids. Love the color.
Thanks so much! 😊
It's great, my friend, I wish to learn this work, but unfortunately, I live in Iran and as a 34-year-old girl, I don't have the necessary financial conditions to visit the course and buy the device, but I really want to be able to work to pay for my family. One of the wood pieces on the smaller lid, looks like a smiley face with two purple teeth. Very cute. Gorgeous again. God bless ❤

Good Morning to all. Getting my cup of tea and a slice of pineapple zucchini bread ready to go.
Hmm, sounds yummy 🃏✌️
If you weren’t so far away, I’d drop by for a cuppa and bring a delectable banana bread along to trade. Pineapple-zucchini sounds delicious!
Thank you very much!
Easy to make.😋
I would take that trade.👍
Watched this on TV. So not sure how it fits in with your algorithms. This really was lovely. She is a lucky lady to know you so you could make these lovely lidded bowls.
The views and watch hours are what’s important and you’ve done that on your TV. Thanks!

Jim your struggles getting your casting out of the bucket is always so entertaining 😂😂😂😂
Enjoy, lol. Thanks
I think they do see an increase in certain colors after some videos. Thanks
Stunning piece!
designer epoxy - It was psychedelic watching the circles spin around while using the lathe!! Another awesome piece!!

Thank you!
Wowsers, I remember all those '60s phrases like farm out, outa state, gravy!
Very interesting pieces. The lilac wood and pine cones work well together and the smaller bowl came out better than many of your cored bowls do.
Absolutely, thanks.
Designer Epoxy. Another one for the decades to come. Wow on the finish and the alignment of the lids. Great job
Thank you! Cheers!

OMG 😮❤ ! PURPLE IS MY FAVORITE COLOR AND I LOVE THE WAY THE WOOD AND PINECONES COME OUT , ITS BEAUTIFUL!!

This project was crazy awesome. The combination of materials and adding of color which at first I was against was AMAZING! Thanks, Blynne
Thank you very much!
I keep saying insane so I need to find a new word but these pieces just keep getting wilder!
I love the way the broken up wood turned out with the resin -- just super neat. Never thought of lilac as a wood for working -- but that was an experiment that turned out really well!
Thank you very much!
Wow! This bowl set is amazing! That Lilac wood is beautiful! I love it. The purple epoxy is the perfect color. Good man fixing that warped lid. That’s one of the things I like about you. You never let anything go if it’s not quality. Thank you. CR

You are very welcome, thanks
I love all you do . Thanks for being my surrogate for wood working.
You are very welcome, thanks

Designer epoxy. Beautiful work. My vacuum chuck cracked the bottom of a 5/8" thick honey locust bowl. I now have different sized vacuum chucks. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Wow, that pretty tough stuff. Thanks
Love how the wood pieces are segmented with the purple! The small lidded bowl shows the segments beautifully. 👏👏
Thanks so much 😊
I grew up with a lilac grove, and I don't think I ever saw a trunk that thick, except maaaaaby right near the ground. Great starting piece of wood!
Oh! I meant to ask, are you able to move the fridge kilns somewhere else and still use them? I bet I'm not the only one curious. Let us know!
It’s certainly the largest I’ve seen too. My wife grew up with a huge lilac bush in her front yard. I will look to see if there’s any large ones in there when we move. Thanks
The fridge kilns have been moved into the garage in the house. My business insurance only covers my workshop and liability. Thanks
I love pinecone, purple and lilacs. Gorgeous!
Would love to see a lamp of green with pinecone ad pine branches.
Keep up the beautiful artistry!!!
Absolutely stunning, I love this wood resin combo. That small center core would make a beautiful lid for a small lidded dish or vase. Gorgeous Gorgeous project this week.....❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
The color really goes nicely with the wood. Great job. The dance made my sick nephew happy. Thanks for having such a personable personality. Hugs from the Nelms family.
Thank you so much!
Absolutely fantastic. You keep surpassing yourself.

Wow just the thumbnail alone got my attention . Love Lilacs
Thank you very much!
What an amazing, beautiful bowl! Absolutely gorgeous colors! 💜
Thank you so much!

Oh my, it is "Far Out, man" lol we are showing our age. Jim, these turned out STUNNING!!!!!!!
Ha ha! Thanks
Thank you very much!
Who would have guessed? Lilac wood is Beautiful
Great imagination for how you styled this set
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for watching and your comments!
Very beautiful bowl and lid. My granddaughters would love it for the purple. I like how the resin makes smiles when you look for them.
Thank you so much!
I really like the patterns caused by the hollow log. Beautiful use of materials. I like seeing sets also.
Glad you like them! Thanks
Well Jim, you did it again. They continue to get even better. Maybe the best yet. Janet is going to love it.
Thank you very much!
