  • i cant remember if it was one of my commenters or the steam forums, but someone said he arrived in ashlands with his buddy and they both used silver swords. i was a bit skeptical of that but its actually pretty good. only the vulture and asksvin are true organics. everything else is succeptible to spirit. in fact, charred are weak to it, x1.5. a sword secondary on a parry-staggered charred warrior is very strong, even at my low sword skill level (20s). the stop-and-go, hit-and-run nature of ashlands combat, where offensive opportunity windows are often very small, makes lingering DOTs effective.
having said that, if you are a sword player, you are using mistwalker by this point, which is obviously superior. this was just for fun, and a proof of concept. i will say also that, as usual with valheim, the elemental effects are overdone; the spirit "burn" obscures the valkyrie, actively intereferes with reading body language.

I do really think that the mistwalker, frostner, and silver sword are the top 3 melee weapons that one should have before delving deep into the ashlands. It is great that you highlight the strength of spirit damage by only landing a few hits and let the damage overtime take its course

Found for self that silver sword is better than mistwalker because of lower stamina cost. Easier to manage stamina with around the same damage.

it definitely does cost less stamina, 12 vs 16.

You know you don’t have to jump to hit the fallen Valkyrie. Save yourself some stamina.

I just found out my Frostner really rocks in Ashland.... now imma try Silver Sword and see the comparison

frostner is better as you can perform chain knockbacks against starred warriors using the secondary uppercut.

spirit DoT being affected by parry's x2 bonus is very potent. 6-8 ticks of 15+ damage each is almost a 2nd attack's worth of damage for the stamina cost of a single swing.

Wow, that does way more damage to the Valkyrie than either my Mistwalker or the new sword with poison damage at lvl 1. I'm bringin one in my back pocket.

Poison sucks, all charred and voltures are immune and only morgen has no resistance to it.

    The spirit DoT is underrated

Kinda disappointing how the proportion of elemental damage is so low with ashlands enchanted weapon. Take Dyrnwyn for example, only 10 fire damage despite the old version (the unobtainable one) had 30 fire damage

And a goddamn torch has 15 fire damage. This sword is a joke.
They could've make it mostly fire/spirit damage, not this pathetic excuse of an endgame weapon.

yes dyrnwyn seems like pointless fan service so 10 year olds can get excited about "omg fire sword!"

@sittingforgetting9907 only thing I can figure is that it'll be the best melee weapon to deal with the ice giants and frost worms coming soon (1.5 years)
