- An awesome performance. The Dillinger Escape Plan in a nutshell. Oh and an appearance from an underground vocalist who goes by the name of Chino Moreno.
1. Prancer
2. When I Lost My Bet
3. Behind The Wheel - เพลง
They could have played an accesible song like 'One of Us is the Killer' or 'Milk Lizard' but they decided to go all brutal instead. Awesome.
patoloquend0 What an absolute dead ass crowd. So glad they gave it to them. Wood have been the same if they played more 'listenable' songs
LOL those are my favourite.
They probably chose those songs because they were from One of us is the killer, which at the time, wasn’t released yet, so it would be like a cool sneakpeak at what’s soon to be in store for the fans. I mean, as soon as I heard “new music from Dillinger is played in this video” I IMEDIATELY went and watched it, I probably wouldn’t have if they played milk lizard or something else they’ve already played live a thousand times instead
The sick ass depeche mode cover obviously didn't work for you
Prancer is an accessible song…
I don't know which one is worse, the "this is just noise" crowd, or the "you can't handle the music I listen to" crowd.
Two sides of the same elitist coin IMO
Right?
Lol
I LOVE DEP, but i still have those same thoughts sometimes haha! Sometimes i think its almost noise, and sometimes i REALLY cant handle their songs. They are imo the most abbrasive, weird, clunky, smooth, brainmelting soulfull sh*t ive heard.
...both? Idk? why would you even bring up these negative nancies lol??
Dillinger escape plan is the only band that could scare and confuse seasoned metalheads
scared / confused / shocked, then addicted and then wowwed where my experiences :)
More like perplex and annoy would you even notice if they where just randomly hitting notes on thier instraments , literaly worst band of all time .
@@lukegsr95 so much hate, maybe should actually listen to their music instead on hating, you might even like some of their songs.
@@lukegsr95look up their debut demo EP, starting with "Proceed with Caution"
@@lukegsr95 yeah, i actually would notice, because i like and often listen to their music. it seems like you're a musician so i'm surprised you wouldn't notice that these guys are hittin on the same fucked up janky beats, perfectly, every time. it's not random. they've practiced the fuck outta this shit. like em or not, they're talented. that's an objective fact. it's okay to not like them, but being a jerk about it is pretty lame
A true frontman bleeds profusely from his head as he sings.
Bryce Embery lolol
Bryce Embery Marilyn Manson
Gg Allin approves from the grave 🤘
So doeth King Phil so goeth metal
Greg Puciato is truly fucking terrifying!
The thing I've always respected about Dillinger is how they act that insane on stage yet the music never suffers live. It takes enough skill to play well live and to play mathcore, but to be able to do both those things whilst flinging your instrument around so much its basically orbiting your body is next level talent
I used to know one of the guitarists for dep, brian benoit who injured the nerves in his arm so bad from thrashing he simply couldnt play anymore and had to quit the band, even turned down an offer to play in Nine Inch Nails from trent, but he couldnt. Heard one show someone’s eyebrow came completely off from a guitar and they superglued it back on
@@BK-uy9nj tough way to go. And the eyebrow thing is fucking disgusting.
Rock and Roll is a vicious game
Yeah my mate threw a joint and it landed in a tramps mouth😢😂
Im sorry i think you mean meth core and lack of any apparent talent .
alienating the audience, smashing up the stage, bleeding vocalist, fire ...this is basically dangermusic and about as metal and DEP as it gets...
HANARATASH SPIRITUAL SUCESSOR
See the funny thing is that the metal heads at the golden god think that five finger death punch and other mediocre bands are so heavy and wild then DEP scares the living shit out of them
five finger death punch is a bunch of pussies
vman334323 FFDP are just radio friendly modern rock.
Tunaboy45 Agreed. Fuckin love DEP.
***** He didn't say ugly. But thanks for confirming you are. Metal isn't hate speech. Your views are archaic and lack supporting evidence.
Most of them just are. Not having to play anything.
People don’t talk nearly enough about Liam stomping like Gargamel through the Smurf village. Maybe one of my favorite signature moves in all of rock.
I love Liam lol
what a brilliant comparison
Looks like a Candlemass stomp ;)
I agree so much
This is absolutely amazing. Everyone in the crowd hates it, and Greg is just going insane, while loving every second of it.
3:08 :D
The bassist is wearing a Death t shirt. That's fucking sick!
Why is that sick excuse me?
Fuck yea! Badass shirt and band!
A lot of people talk shit about Dillinger but the fact is that music is a art form. Picasso made art that was ugly and weird and a lot of people hated it. Music doesn't have to be pretty all the time. It needs to be ugly and that's what Dillinger does.
Very well put my friend.cheers!
That is a very apt metaphor
+TheCrumpers look at the sex pistols. they were hated for a looooooooong time
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Puciato = Picasso
Watching this again now it still cracks me up how Chino decides at one point to just get the hell out of the area. His expression at first when Greg starts bleeding even more profusely is kind of like amused but once the torch is lit he starts getting concerned and as soon as Greg goes to fill his mouth with flammable liquid Chino is like OK I’m out and tries to run away as nicely as possible
and this is why bands like Dillinger dont like to play shows like this...weak ass crowd...this would have been killer in a small venue
this is why I hate the larger venues/festivals, people just stand there like idiots...
relax this was an award show, not a concert
Metalcore bands : "we have brutal breakdown"
The Dillinger Escape Plan : "that's cute kids"
The Dillinger Escape Plan: "we have brutal breakdowns but on cocaine"
Metal elitists: metalcore, metalcore, metalcore... grrrr! Metalcore sucks! Metalcore this and that! And did we mention metalcore? Old school dungeons and dragon heavy metal or ultra brootal real metal ftw, bitches! Oh, and this Dillinger
shit is not real metal or even music, it’s just noise (now that last comment is actually based on reality rather than metal elitists playing it safe and going after a style of metal that DEP actually gets thrown to by some)
DEP: FUCKING OK BOOMERS!!! *insanity ensues*
Metal bands: We have some pretty sick breakdowns
DEP: Yeah but do they cause aneurysms?
GG Allin: "Hehe how brutal you are..."
the dillinger escape plan also a metalcore band
"New band"
They've been around since 94....
jeleopard 1997 according to Wikipedia, with Greg on vocals since 2001
Lisa Högrelius 94 they were called something else.
Slimy the unpopular gamer Arcane
Yeah definitely not new
It's amazing how much music theory you need to possess to sound like you have absolutely none.
I don't think they ever thought about theory
Hahaha the contrary my friend ....even weinman would agree
I get what you mean but some bands just got it
Not really. Many people don't know music theory. BTBAM has limited music theory knowledge, especially Paul.
Same with The Faceless.
@@RelentlessOhiox I don't know who they are, but I hear pretty sophisticated theory elements like counterpoint and syncopation that requires a firm grasp on theory.
3:08 LMFAO that one kid in the audience tho!
His life was forever changed that night...
He was shocked!!!! hahahaha
Terrified!😂
The kid was wearing earplugs...
This is phenomenal. Awesome performance, unexpected appearance of Chino Moreno, and the overall entertainment value of seeing The Dillinger Escape Plan make this audience hilariously uncomfortable.
Jesus Greg was eyeing the crowd like a predator animal does before killing its prey or like how an mma fighter paces the cage staring down the guy he's about to beat the shit out of.
Because he knew they were out of their element hearing something as chaotic as DEP
That is a great description
Well said!
I'll never forget I was in college and my room mate and I were so excited to watch this and just laughed for 15 min straight at all the "metal" people in the audience dumbfounded. what a great performance this is true art. RIP frank
I remember watching this live. My Dad wouldn’t let me throw the coffee table through the wall. The energy in this performance is so real.
I have a son, and I definitely would've trashed the absolute fck out of the living room with him if we were watching this live. Coffee table would be launched through the window.
Bright red blood. Plenty of oxygen. A sin of good health.
Calculus-core..
I'll never forget seeing these guys at the ottobar in Baltimore Maryland. The entire show was so packed I was litteraly fighting for my life from start to finish. Just making it out of the show was a fucking accomplishment. It was like trying to fight the craziest ocean waves and current of my life, coming up for breath after each time getting dunked on by wave after wave. It was the most scary yet equally exciting experience ever. At one point I was litteraly picked up like a rag doll, thrown on top the crowd where it then became pure panic because I thought for sure I was going to be thrown onto my head because I had ZERO control of where I was going. I somehow swam my way up to the security line where I reached out for this MASSIVE security guard as a lifeline, he literally pulled me from the crowd, flipped me like a fucking pizza and tossed me right back into the crowd like I weighed 10 pounds. Like.... Words can't describe the amount of crazy excitement I expirenced while being equally scared for my well being.... I believe I was about 14 at the time too. 31 now.... I'll never forget that show. I'll be telling my grandchildren about it whether they wanna listen or not.
❤
Poor Billy just wanted to play his drums...
I think that ben Weinmans spinning guitar-flip at 6:13 is highly underrated.
That was more of a roundhouse kick than a guitar flip.
he landed so perfectly hahaha
Lol, I was so caught up in their cathartis I missed that one! Thanks for bringing that one up... another reason to watch/listen the video.
I guess you guys aren't ready for that, yet. But your kids are gonna love it.
it's profound to think that metal fans who are used to listening to heavy music just can't find a way to mosh out to this..
NC96000 You don't mosh at their shows, you just GET MOSHED. I speak from experience...
Doctor Coctor It's basically just everybody in the audience going from regular to full blown meth head in a fraction of a second
jalen roark I was in the front row, so i got pushed on stage by everyone (i think it was planned, i had been talking to the group that did it) and then pulled off in a wave like motion before being lifted above someone's head and thrown into a group of people. That was about the first 20 seconds of them playing.
Lol. Some (most) people enjoy groove rather than spastic chaoticism. Just cos it's it's loud, aggressive and dissonant doesn't necessary mean it's heavy, and just cos it's heavy doesn't mean it's the kind of thing that people who like other heavy things will enjoy.
I saw them live a bunch of times, but I remember on the Ire Works tour I was missing like half the clothes I showed in when I left the show. It was in January in the middle of winter and I was freezing walking to my car because I lost my hat/scarf/jacket and a bunch of other stuff in the pit.
This will never get old.
Seriously. I remember watching this live and I had no idea how much I would come to love it years later
Dillinger getting booed and cheered at the same time lmao
proof that e tuning can be heavy
best comment
This maybe the best heavy metal gig ever recorded.

You won't get any argument from me. I'll bet the uninitiated left with shit in their pants...and rightfully so.
Sorta makes everything else sound tame by comparison doesn't it? DEP is
definitely an acquired taste, but once you acquire it... WOW! When I first
heard DEP it took repeated listenings to truly understand them and I can
truthfully say it was worth the effort.
Dene Seal Same, true horrible great music.
The first time I heard them I thought there is no way they can duplicate this live. Thought it sounded like a crazy jam sesh. Then I saw them touring with deftones at Hampton casino ballroom and motherfucker they are raw, energetic, and on point.
Yes takes more than a brief listen
Great band live
None of my metal friends like DEP. To me they are the epitome of metal - loud, aggressive, chaotic - that's why I love metal in the first place!
@@tonybogyo8905 some of my friends were a bit put off at first but could not deny their sheer ferocity and unlikely mix of melody and beautiful chaos. Great band.
13:41 Greg: Fuck up that snare drum.
Billy: OK
*tips snare drum over*
Billy too pure for this world
ppl that hate on DEP can get 43% Burnt!
QuBitGaming 🙄
100%. Fck them
@@jbondrums_2034 100% won't hurt tho... To make someone truly suffer 43% is the perfect percentage and they'll still probably die
100% cummed on
Pretty sure the crowd was shocked , not a DEP crowd. I think Metallica headlined this and the golden gods. I wouldn't expect this type of audience to go crazy. It's either over their heads or they are just absorbing the raw talent. Sometimes it's just fun to watch a talented band perform, I also get the whole letting your aggression out thing as well. lol
Judoka vallejo I idgaf about the band,I just want to mosh.
@@devangshukla7037 ohh you must be a tough guy
If you had taken me six months ago and plopped me into that crowd I would've been pretty freaked out. This is some serious acquired taste guys. The amount of listening I had to do to get to this point where I can look at this type of show and go "fuck yeah" adds up to a _lot._
Like I said, this is not pre-packaged easy listening.
I stopped getting hammered and going crazy cause all the shows I can't remember, now just chill and absorb it all.
i love how the crowd had no interest in the show
Because they're all stupid FFDP and Avenged Sevenfold fans.
AlexArchaic woah woah, i like avenged as well as dillinger. at the golden gods in the uk they were fucking amazing
AlexArchaic FFDP and A&X are both awesome
Did I hear fxxking booing at the end of When I Lost My Bet! :0
I love how everyone looks confused and in disbelieve that this is actually on stage.... i remember watching this when it was live and thinking to myself why is nobody happy to see them 0_0
and these are "real metalheads"... lame
The crowds reaction makes this event a momental occurrence in history.
Dillinger was what I always thought metal and rock in general should be. Violent, intimidating, uncompromising and brutal.
Dillinger took the whole genre and turned it into something that defied any easy description. There are times when nothing else satisfies.
Chino's like "Oh shit I left the oven on"
Dillinger AND Chino... damn that was great!
Holy shit that transition into 43% Burnt was fucking amazing!
sometimes, when it's late at night, i think about how this is the best video on youtube.
Love the kid in the crowd at 3:10 just like "what is life?"
Damn, talk about giving them their money's worth.
i was very impressed when I saw them live. they opened for Killswitch Engage. Wasn't a fan of their music but damn...WHAT A PERFORMANCE.
At 12:26, Chino know what's coming next is getting the fuck out of there before he gets lit on fire!
He was so not into the crazy stuff hahahha
0:33 Prancer
4:24 When I lost my belt
8:34 Behind the Wheel ft FREACKING CHINO MORENO(Depeche Mode Cover)
12:47 43% Burnt outro and legendary fire moment and break the hell out of everything on stage
that is how it's fuckin done!!!! I think the crowd where expecting something like halestorm or disturbed and they got full blown Dillinger brutality!! fuck yeah!!!
Love how you're trying to make Halestorm or Disturbed mean weakness when Disturbed is one of my favorite bands and I'm here listening to this. GG.
It's all good but TDEP throws down unlike most bands out there.
Never forge the first time I saw this. First time I ever heard Dillinger Escape Plan too. Instant fan.
I saw them open for Mastodon at the Warfield in 2011. Didn't know who they were.
Frontman jesus walked the crowd.
I'll never forget that.
Watch Greg's headwalk at the virgin megastore performance.
How can you stand completely still listening to this, the audience is in shock.
Eight years later, haven't given up hope for a Behind the wheel studio version
Your not the only one
That's already been made because it's a Depeche Mode song
Look at all the metal fans that can't take something as heavy as Dillinger. Lol. You guys are weak.
lol
Delboy219
What does that have to do with anything?
they're mostly Metallica fans, that's why. Metallica was getting an honorary award that night. These fans are lame!
Revolution//Loss I love it when fans of like death metal get that bewildered look listening to Dillinger. It's like "Isn't this what you wanted?"
Revolution//Loss lol, Fuckin' seriously...
Damn, the cover with Chino was crazy. How I wish they would have recorded a studio version (or done any collab with Chino).
This crowd is the worst.
It's an award show genius
Man they destroyed that place! The best live band ever, greg is one of the most under rated vocalist! Also chino rulezzz
Chino does rule the buffet
Honestly I just cant get over the complexity of this band. How do you compose this amount of changes in time signatures. Crazy insanely good musicianship. And dont even get started on the drummer. Jeez!!!!
Testament: (introducing The Dillinger Escape Plan)
Crowd: (Cheering uncountably)
Me, the one, lone scientist trying to warn everyone: NO! NO YOU FOOLS! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, WE'RE ALL IN DANGER! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! *THEY'LL DESTROY US ALL!!!*
- Manager: How many ambulances do you wanna want for the dillinger escape plan's concert?
- Local Concert: YES!
That's awesome, need Lamb of God and Hatebreed on the same show
love the guy at 0:47 he's like "fuck fuck fuck I have to get outta here FAST" hahaha
Solid Depeche mode cover.
I love the dissonances in metal, and that's why I love mathcore, it's absolutely sick music! For my soul.
Dillinger escape Plan is one of the best live bands I've ever seen... They are Fucking Brutal.. And Not afraid of interacting with a crowd either. Lead singer Greg I met in person and he's about 5 ft tall with the biggest arms on a man I've ever seen.. And The only thing FFDP might know how to choke a women.. But they aren't bad asses like these guys..
Just discovering the Escape Plan and im pretty much like wtf. Appreciating them :)
Welcome brother
It is a savage wondrous place this band will take you. Nothing else satisifies!
Hahahah the little kid on the shoulder is stunned
That freaking kid at 3:08 is the fucking best...
can't imagine what would be going through my mind if i was his age watching the dillinger escape plan live back in the day haha
3:09 that child omg :p
I remember seeing these guys tour with Meshuggah and they did an interview together where Jens Kidman was like "Yeah your guys music is fucking ridiculous."
This gets better every time I hear/see/feel it.
It sounds funny hearing Chino not sing high like usual. Lol
So much better than Bon Jovi
an underground vocalist who goes by the name of Chino Moreno.
BTW @ 2:25 Greg intentionally started to cut himself as he is facing the drums. You can see his hands on his forehead.
They knew exactly what they were doing...
Playing to a crowd that expected heavy rock hits...
Oh that crowd definitely got hit heavy that night. Wish I was there! 🙃
It's too much for a bunch of 5FDP fans lol
It was swift, violent and beautiful.
They couldve played easier to digest songs but no, they went full balls to the walls because that reflects Dillinger better
I love how the crowd has absolutely no clue how to handle this. I miss these guys too much.
i guess these folks just wasn't ready for the TDEP
I do not understand a word!🙂
... the guitars and the drum almost give me cramps and the music disturbs me more than I can comprehend what is being played!✌🏾
But respect!
This is intense art with full commitment!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It pretty much scares me how much I like this .... 😳
Gigantic!👍🏾💪🏾
Of all the things that come to mind, one that sticks out is Michael Bluth: “Well no one’s gonna top that.”
Chino asking Greg "what happened" and him saying "I don't know" brought me back
Great. now I'm gonna have the chorus from that first song stuck in my head all day. Song bomb!
Prancer is such a fantastic track, love TDEP.
spinnig kick at 6:12 might be smoothest ive ever seen
that was a real rock show
how can you dislike this?
masterpiece ... hope there will pop up a better & louder recording... sound is great!
awesome performance and lush audience...
Left out the best part where Chris Fucking JERICHO walks an says something like, "what the hell was that?!"
Dr. Doom 🤯🤯🤯
tuna still going strong with this video
Amazingly it's still up, long live Dillinger
@@Tunaboy45 LONG LIVE m/
*Greg completely wrecking a guitar
*Sound heard: thunk
It's not plugged in to anything, just one of the props stuck through those amps. So unfortunately all you get is the weak sound of, essentially, a plank being snapped.
Well, it's safe to say that the audience didn't get the show they wanted, they got the one they deserved. This is so epic!
I like how the bassist moves his hips, goign to try something like this when i play with my band.
God damn. DEP will always be one of my favorites of all time.
Flying Weinman 6:12
Grim Theorist low key such an impressive move
This band defines my teen years.
Legendary band, wish they released that song with chino when they were still active, rip Dillinger
Nice pfp
macklemore goes nuttz!
