Chris Pennie was such a beast! Became one of my hero when Miss machine came out, it was heartbreaking when he left the band. Look at him basicaly ripping this small kit!
Hands down in my top 3 live bands. I only say top 3 because Meshuggah live cannot be topped. And third would go to any band that has the balls to open for DEP.
You mean Mike Patton? Have you heard Irony is a Dead Scene. Greg's vocals dont even compare to Mike's on When Good Dogs Do Bad things,. Im saying Greg does a nice job but is not even close to the caliber of Patton.
They probably did know! Lowlands is a big festival with lots of stages. So anyone who isn't into what they're watching, just goes somewhere else. It's not a typical metal/punk crowd though, so that's why there's so little moshing going on.
Actually Dillinger dropped in for a other (less extreme) band that couldn't make it to the show... Think it was spineshank or some other nu-metal crap... So the crowd was pretty shocked :)
This is called an "Geheimtipp" ("insider tip") in German. Dillinger Escape Plan will always remain an Geheimtipp. But I suspect that the musicians won't mind. Specialized journalists and apparently heavy metal colleagues were enthusiastic about this band. I think you can see the latter at the beginning of this video (which unfortunately has a very poor sound quality). th-cam.com/video/AGIK5qhjdb4/w-d-xo.html
Agree would’ve been interesting but how good is Gil on ire works and Billy’s stuff is amazing hey Prancer and such just amazing glad we got such great albums that I’ll play for many years to come.
Would've really been sick, honestly. But that being said, Option Paralysis is my favorite DEP record - the drumming that Billy brings is apex predator status.
This actually was my introduction to the band. Never heard of 'mathcore' at all, and well, I was blown away. I guess this was one of the few metal acts on Lowlands Festival that year, along with Nile and Gorefest I think. Best edition ever.
I'll also mention that I was lucky enough to see them in 2010...but man, this would have been such an amazing time to see em. Chris Pennie and Greg is so insane. I love Gil and Billy, but Chris Pennie is one of those drummers like Gene Hoglan that just blows me away. I am a big fan of Jeff Tuttle though, so I'm glad I caught them when I did :)
well their drummer was using a click, and they had a backing track on at least one song in this set (sunshine the werewolf) so im not sure what your point is. i understand that some bands completely abuse computers and shit for their set but theres absolutely nothing wrong with having some backing tracks or using a fucking click, god forbid.
Wow thanks for the upload! this was the first show I saw from these guys (actually never heard of them and they replaced a other band that couldn't show up), been a huge fan ever since!
I saw Dillinger quite a few time in London around this period. At the basement in the now destroyed Astoria, they supported System of a Down at a larger venue i remember. Saw Greg shit on stage at Reading Festival. Im flying to New York for the Calculating Infinity celebration. I'm 39.
He recorded Miss Machine on a 3-piece kit, and I believe toured with it for the remainder of his time in the band (though I could be mistaken). Prior to that he always used a 4-piece.
D.E.Ps band name should really of been Voltron coz when they came together they were practically unstoppable. I use the past tence coz sadly they are no more 😭
“This the first song off our new album….it’s called Panasonic Youth”
What a time to be alive!!
Chris Pennie was such a beast! Became one of my hero when Miss machine came out, it was heartbreaking when he left the band.
Look at him basicaly ripping this small kit!
Not just basically ripping, absolutely destroying
Heartbreaking It was

@Kason Thaddeus Yup, been using Flixzone} for since december myself :D
@Kason Thaddeus yea, I've been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself :)
Such beautiful melodies.
DEP is a top 10 band of all time for me. Maybe even top 5. So good.
mine is top 3, along with system of a down and between the buried and me
For me DEP is Top 1, the best of all times.
Definitely up there in mine with Metallica & Queens of the stone age
I love when Brian was in the band. His use of effects and tight playing are so killer.
Im glad I got to see them live a few times. Best live band ever. No question
Hands down in my top 3 live bands. I only say top 3 because Meshuggah live cannot be topped. And third would go to any band that has the balls to open for DEP.
Greg is the best screamer I've ever heard
You mean Mike Patton? Have you heard Irony is a Dead Scene. Greg's vocals dont even compare to Mike's on When Good Dogs Do Bad things,. Im saying Greg does a nice job but is not even close to the caliber of Patton.
That crowd has no idea how much awesome they're witnessing, based on their reaction. (or lack thereof)
They probably did know! Lowlands is a big festival with lots of stages. So anyone who isn't into what they're watching, just goes somewhere else. It's not a typical metal/punk crowd though, so that's why there's so little moshing going on.

It's a lot to take in. Some folks take years to come around on Dillinger
This is called an "Geheimtipp" ("insider tip") in German. Dillinger Escape Plan will always remain an Geheimtipp. But I suspect that the musicians won't mind.

Or, there are some older fucks like me in attendance that just enjoying watching and listening.
I still remember the first time I heard Panasonic Youth. It blew my mind. So glad I got to see DEP at one of their last shows.
pro shot Dillinger. can't go wrong. that was a great line up..
25:47 so well timed
DULLUNGER ESCAEP PLEH
Fantastic live drum sound, those overheads captured all those little details.
Phone Home is still one of my favorite songs to this day
They sound tight as hell here. And the mixing is great too.
OMG the sound is great for this show
This makes cannibal corpse sound like the Beatles
Lol
Does make them quite boring. Prolly cause they are boring
Qué pedazo de show ! Acá bancando los 20 años con TDEP !!!❗🤘🤙
The most intense band on the planet
Wtf the video and audio quality is so clear? DEP at their peak for me tbh
I love Gil and Billy but I really would have loved to see the band's progression with this lineup. Absolute monsters.
For real as much as I enjoy the newer shit nothin beats Pennie and Benoit
Agree would’ve been interesting but how good is Gil on ire works and Billy’s stuff is amazing hey
Prancer and such just amazing glad we got such great albums that I’ll play for many years to come.
Would've really been sick, honestly. But that being said, Option Paralysis is my favorite DEP record - the drumming that Billy brings is apex predator status.
@@HalfStepTides that and The mighty perfect one of us is the killer are top fucking tier
Absolutely, Pennie is a god
This actually was my introduction to the band. Never heard of 'mathcore' at all, and well, I was blown away. I guess this was one of the few metal acts on Lowlands Festival that year, along with Nile and Gorefest I think. Best edition ever.
I definetly prefer Puciato's vocals live compared to in studio. Dude is fucking unstoppable on the stage.
not his singing though, he can't sing live
Back when they all had long hair, except for Pennie lol
21:18 the drummer is going through so much pain XD
That performance of Jim Fear. Perfection.
Love the crowd interaction at the start of When Good Dogs do Bad Things (37:25)!
I saw them with the locust in 2004-5 or so I believe. Insane show 😆
Saw them in Paradiso Amsterdam. It was awesome!
I was at this show! Instantly fell in love with them:)
Miss this band!!!
These kinds of bands today would be on click/backing tracks and kempers. They sound great just by cranking their amps and being exceptionally tight.
well their drummer was using a click, and they had a backing track on at least one song in this set (sunshine the werewolf) so im not sure what your point is. i understand that some bands completely abuse computers and shit for their set but theres absolutely nothing wrong with having some backing tracks or using a fucking click, god forbid.
Looove Jim Fear in this set! Love Jim Fear in any set!
Chris Pennie is GOD
Notice it?…the time before phones…
Lucky i saw them in this lineup quite few times. Sick ass band. Next level shit! Jazz fusion players on acid lol
8:07
happy
8:15
un fucking real
Wow thanks for the upload! this was the first show I saw from these guys (actually never heard of them and they replaced a other band that couldn't show up), been a huge fan ever since!
37:39 this is so crazy sick 2 me i cant stop replaying it
This is fantastic, Thanks for uploading it
Caught this tour, was hoping for some Irony is a Dead Scene, as Patton is their best vocalist ever, and was not disappointed.
Amazing band, amazing performance!
I can’t shake the feeling that there's Adam Sandler on vox
Chris Pennie is a machine
Oh shit, this is the tour I saw them on my first time.
Thanks for the upload, just what I wanted...great stuff!
you're welcome! youtube needed this!
I saw Dillinger quite a few time in London around this period. At the basement in the now destroyed Astoria, they supported System of a Down at a larger venue i remember. Saw Greg shit on stage at Reading Festival. Im flying to New York for the Calculating Infinity celebration. I'm 39.
Feel good song of the year.
Jim fear :)
Greg looks so young here
He was 23
💿💿💿💿
THAT GUYS LEFT EYE!!
Did Chris always play on a three piece? I've never seen him with one before this. Great footage though!
He recorded Miss Machine on a 3-piece kit, and I believe toured with it for the remainder of his time in the band (though I could be mistaken). Prior to that he always used a 4-piece.
12:45 (.) lol
only looked at comments to see if anyone else noticed this lol
Holy shit!
Gojira's my favorite band and no other has really come close, except for Dillinger.
uh
D.E.Ps band name should really of been Voltron coz when they came together they were practically unstoppable. I use the past tence coz sadly they are no more 😭
That was a nice set. They could've picked up the pace a little, but it was nice ;-)
masters
I find it weird why chris wasn't using a china symbol
maybe he wanted to go minimalist or something idk
Ezraph yeah that is possible
Ben Weinmen forced him to use a china in the studio, especially for blast beat bits.
REFORM.
what did the guy in the crowd shout at 23:56?
"Legalize metal"
@42:12 dream crowd. Claps are on time (go figure, all fans of this band are music nerds)
8:05 LOOOL
17:59
Lol...what's he saying?
wear hearing protection greg lol
Anyone remember when greg was skinny? 😂 I do
fuck...
24:51
Just a random cut to Ben's nipple
12:44 too

It's ok, but I can't handle all the cheesy melodies.
How many comments are you going to make on this vid
Behindthen0thing lol
Cheesy melodies? The fack? Do you listen to Five Finger Death Punch?
These bastards are just ripping off Pink Floyd.
Respectfully HATE this vocalist. And everything touched to represent DEP.
This is horrible.
I absolutely love Dillinger, this lineup specifically, but good God. They are failing HARD. Greg sounds bad.
He sounds bad doing the Mike Patton songs, otherwise he’s solid
He sounds good doing the Dimitri stuff. Not his own or Patton
Lol you try screaming for 40 minutes and see how your voice sounds
