    Hi George! The Windmill has some nice items, at good prices. I like that enameled stove. I was disappointed to see that oak sideboard had been defaced with that green paint, though. I have three of my granddad's coal scuttles. We use them to put large pine cones in for display. I like that "Go-Along" bottle you got. I have an old GE refrigerator pitcher, with a metal lid, that reminded me of. Love that oak bonnet dresser! I have a highboy chest with the hat box in it. That looked like a Victorian bamboo chair the typewriter was on. I love the Victorian bamboo furniture! Those planes were nice. I have one of my granddad's old wood planes. I noticed several pieces of Carnival Glass scattered about in there, too. Love that Royal Doulton piece! There was an old floor/piano lamp there that would be nice, if it could be restored to oil. That is a nice shop, with really good prices and items! Thanks for the tour!!!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I love Victorian bamboo as well! I went right to the dishes on that painted dresser because words couldn't describe how unappealing that paint was. The piano lamp would be a restoration project, I'm not sure whether they drilled it to electrify or not...so many were ruined that way. Thanks for your appreciation of the bonnet dresser, I really think those are undervalued right now...in part because people paint them (ugh). I knew you'd agree with me about the Royal Doulton piece! Best wishes, George

    • @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
      @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAntiqueNomad I had a Victorian bamboo corner chair, but had to sell it when I moved here with Mother...nowhere to put it. I hated to let it go, but had to. That sideboard looked like an ogre had upchucked on it🤣 That green paint was horrid! It would be a shame if someone had drilled the font on the piano lamp. I think some of them can be brazed, but it still lessens the value, if they've been drilled. I'd love to find a matching bonnet dresser to the highboy I have. My brother and his wife have a complete reproduction set, like my highboy, and it actually came with a bonnet dresser. To me, painting over that wood grain is like putting Mother Nature in a gaudy body bag😒 I've never understood why anyone would do that. That Royal Doulton piece is really nice! You made a real score with that one! Hope you're having a great day, Mark

    "...these cats from the '80s and '90s that everybody likes now. Priced at 24...they don't eat much". I burst out laughing. That McCoy jardiniere originally had a matching pedestal. We had the set and sold it, which I've regretted ever since. My ex-husband had one of those silly oil drip lamps when I met him in 1978. With taste like that, maybe that's why he's my EX husband, lol. Along with a complete set of 'Plainsman' from Frankoma, my Mom had the Autumn Leaf too. I guess for 'fancy dining"?
    LOVE the Royal Dalton compote, the colors are beautiful. BTW George? If you like covered bridges, come to Oregon, we've got tons of them :-)

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol! Actually wanting an oil drip lamp back then was not the ironic statement it is now! I've been over one Oregon covered bridge on the way to the coast, I think. I wish the pedestal had been there, and I can see regret over selling that set, they seem big and in the way but there's a time later we recollect how grand they were...

    40 years ago I was given oak dining room furniture: claw footed table with two leaves, four or six chairs (since gone ), a matching sideboard and mirror. It had to be refinished and when the refinished came over to check it out, he offered me a thousand dollars for all of it. I kept my furniture and although I am tired of it I won’t sell it : it is worth more and more importantly, this oak furniture has been where we have had numerous family dinners and celebrations. It is part of our history.

    I know nothing about Native American history so I do not know about the trail you referred to at the beginning

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Trail of Tears was where the Cherokee and other Native American tribes were forced to walk 1000 miles from their tribal lands to the scrub land of Oklahoma to which they were displaced, hence the name. Andrew Jackson was president and committed what would now be considered war crimes to make that happen, specifically when he had his emissaries make a cease-fire truce with the Seminole chief and then kidnapped him and shipped him off during what they claimed was a "negotiation session". Many Native Americans died during the travail, it's a real blemish on our history
