Refreshing how Nuno, as a rock legend, is equally a rock fan, and a working and learning musician. That combination makes him a unique legend as he is down to earth, relatable, and gets excited about music as an art. Thankful for all your hard work, Nuno, incredible work.
Agree w everything Nunos saying. And: rhe rock n roll being presented by Gary, these phenomenal vocals & energy, is his best ever! And the bass & drums! You guys are AT THE TOP OF YOUR GAME, and its SO AWESOME and WONDERFUL to watch 💛 and listen.
Nuno is not just a master of his instrument. He can write, sing and puts on a great show. Soulful and Melodic playing? I guess "More than Words" and "Hole Hearted" have no soul? Check out his solo on "Rest in Peace" from 3 Sides. Tell me that's not incredibly soulful and melodic. Many, many more great tracks in their catalog like that one. Too many to list!
@@donwoodward7944 His writing isn't that great and his singing is decent, but not outstanding. Richie Kotzen is at least as good of a guitarist and songwriter as Nuno and a far better singer. Nuno is overrated af. And I've heard all of those songs numerous times (I own Pornograffiti on cassette - bought it shortly after it came out because it was getting a lot of hype in rock magazines and guitar magazines. I was underwhelmed), but can't really recall the solos - probably because they're not very memorable.
@@hinjurock70 if you think that Pornograffiti solos arent memorable, I m eager to listen to solos that you find memorable? Ritchie Kotzen's ? Seriously?
Nuno was trying to be so humble about his solo but we all know that he is absolutely buzzing inside that the guitar world has woken up because of it and rightly so!! Face it, when people talk about a solo that you do then you feel the results of the time and effort you took to learn and play!. Best guitarist on the planet right now and could listen to him talk all day!
This dude will always be a legend in my book. He's been a front row seat inspiration with me for the whole ride of my guitar playing life and I would'nt have anyone else sitting next to me. Swagger, class, finesse, aggression, beauty, hate, I can find every adjective in his playing. It's all there, every single mood I want to feel. Very proud of Nuno, I think he represents us like a fkn BOSS.
Nuno's also been working hard. He took time to get better. It paid off. Look at videos of him 10 yrs ago going to local spots in LA - just playing with great musicians. Waiting for their opportunity to come back. Nuno, documentary idea - from Hotel Cafe to Rize.
He's so right. It lit a 'little kid' excitement in me...and I picked up my guitar just to play and be excited vs. work and record. Thank you, Nuno & Extreme!
Nuno crushed that solo and he knew it from the second that he finished playing it! There hasn't been a moment like that in a video in a Long Time! I think the album is really good but, that solo is phenomenal!
Thanks for this interview! Nuno's creative process has always been very fascinating. Love the new album!🤘 I think in the era of overproduced-autotuned to the death-today's popular music and the trend where people make gazillion of superficial short videos, plus AI generated contents. Extreme's new songs are refreshing, felt so real and genuine the first time people listened to these songs. When I listened to Banshee, Rise, Other Side Of The Rainbow. I get a lot of energy, excitement, and joy.
I keep telling my wife rock sucks these days because there are no more awesome guitar solos. Then this album comes out and puts the rest of the fake rock world to shame. I actually had no idea Extreme had a new album, listened to a song and actually turned it off. I gave it another try a day later and now I can't stop listening. Thanks for bringing rock back! This has to be the greatest comeback in rock history
I bought the first Extreme album back in the day because looking at the cover I thought he looks like a good guitar player..lol. Had never heard anything by them at that point but I wasn't wrong with my feeling and reason.I was blown away listening to that album for the first time. Today I'm still being blown away by Extreme and Nuno!
I've thought the same thing as Nuno for a while when he said people are starved for it. Those are the same words I've said to my friends. When the younger generations get something like "rise" they flip out. Didn't even know what they were missing in life. Just like every so often over the past 20 years or so, when someone brings a guitar out on American Idol or the X factor everyone goes crazy. Like when Prince did some serious guitar playing at the super bowl and the rock and roll hall of fame ceremony. People go nuts for guitar and rock and roll. I feel that if a band like Guns and Roses came along right now with some great songs, a great lead player, and a charismatic singer, they would blow the fuck up and if three or four of those types of bands came along in the same year, two year period it would change the music/ entertainment tide and rock and roll would become the number one music genre in the world again. People born after 1990 don't know that kind of world, trust me, it was a much cooler place!
For me, its like when I heard Joe Walsh's Rocky mountain way. It took my breath away. I was a kid. Im 64 now and this did the same. It's like having sex for the first time. The excitement and the wow of it. Bless you Nuno, from Birmingham UK.
Nuno, you have played better solos, But the Rise solo is cool! Even 30 years ago you were ahead of your time. I love the new stuff, its proper! You guys have more than paid your dues, and it shows.
@@dmitryowensI do not! Doesn’t matter one bit…I had a great time talking w/Nuno & found him to be warm, honest, engaging & funny…a great dude & a great & distinct player…
"You have to have an affair with an album".....that is SO true. First sitting with WFTP, and I really didn't like it. And literally didn't listen to it for close to a year after that.....then I decided to listen to it again, and heard it with different ears. Now it's one of my favourite of their albums (nothing beats III Sides). I should have listened to it a few times and "dated" it, as Nuno says. I may have saved myself a year of enjoying it.
Playlisting is killing the album experience, I'm so happy bands like Extreme, (and recently) The Winery Dogs and even Dave Matthews Band are staying true to telling the story, not just random chapters that care more about radio play.
That solo just sounds like a bunch of mindless fast licks and exercises randomly thrown together - it's got no melody, feel or sense of dynamics, which is the opposite of Eddie Van Halen's solos.
Nuno Quote: "People messaging me saying Thank for bringing back Rock and Roll. I think people are starved for it" EXACTLY!! Nuno's absolutely right.
Refreshing how Nuno, as a rock legend, is equally a rock fan, and a working and learning musician. That combination makes him a unique legend as he is down to earth, relatable, and gets excited about music as an art. Thankful for all your hard work, Nuno, incredible work.
And here I thought this vid was going to be about Extreme's song Rise & Shine. Fantastic song. Six is hands-down their best album since III Sides IMO.

So happy to see Nuno and Extreme back....they've always had it for me. Watch the Freddie tribute gig.
Nuno's playing is definitely beyond and above many great musicians who are well known in the industry.
Commercialism my friend….there are phenomenal guitar players out there that you will never hear!
Not really. Lots of guitarists can play fast, and he lacks a sense of melody and soul in his playing.

He is obviously talking about the song Rise from the album Six, not Rise N Shine from the album III Sides To Every Story

Good job bringing Nuno back to Jimi Hendrix, but it didn’t quite resonate.
