A little tip I found to get the breather out. I just used a reverse thread broken screw extractor and it twisted it right out. I initially was gonna drill and tap it but didn't want to put any metal shavings in the transmission. Did it with the transmission installed in the car. Worked like a charm.
use tape on the screw and the pry tool to be even more safe you can gouge the metal really bad if you hit it wrong trying to pull it out using leverage slow n steady pull Stright
Silly question but I am just now starting to learn. Are these the only two seals needed for the transmission or is there more? I noticed my manual started to drip today
I have a Triumph Tr6 that uses this transmission, The problem i am having is the . back seal is leaking. The way the trans is in the car its hard for me to get a hammer to wack the seal in place. I put one aftermarket seal and it is still leaking. I ordered the Toyota seal but i am just wondering how do you know when it is seated?
@@TunerwithKids Does it stop going back when it seats? I guess i don't really know if it is seated or not. The aftermarket one i put on leaked so I'm not sure i seated it correctly.
That shifter is definitely supposed to be like that if it sat straight up it'd be too far over, you can orient it in the 180 degrees off but the orientation is extra stupid lol

I have W55 and it's leaking from the rear. This video is the best.
hey, when yours leaked did all the oil go around driveshaft and even exhaust? just wondering if it's only my rear input seal
@@james-rk4ck it went all over the exhaust, driveshaft and cross member
Great job! Nice problem solving to remove the breather.
all the IS300 comes with the shifter lean into the driver side so don't worry about it that's how it comes from factory
Another great video, you are the best at illustrations. Thanks again
W58 for a mk3 going into an mx83 but to address that shifter bend. My supra one has the exact same bend!
So the output seal part number 224040 is not what shows up for me. The rear seal for me is 223840. Any difference?

These are two of the external shaft seals. Theses also seals for the shifter and linkages but not really a leak source.
@@TunerwithKids so replacing these two would most likely solve any leaking?

If you mean the output shaft seal, it doesn’t have a back stop. It goes in and seals the shaft collar around the splines into the tranny.

@dougrobinson2265 no stop. Just flush. It just seals the splash on output shaft. No real fluid flows back there.

I did the manual swap myself but did not install the breather. What is the use/function of the breather?
It’s a breather, it vents air.
😂
