Yea I would say you can get like 6 more containers use one for water only and the rest for different colors so you only need to switch the container and not the color
I think this is the big brain move. Unless you can get the containers super cheap. But i would maybe only limit it to 2 or 3. Don't want to leave one unattended for too long. Might seize up. But having the background and a fill on hand would probably be good enough.
About the color container problem...you could actually try get your hands on more of them...like atleast 4 containers...for four differ colors...depending on your drawings... Btw love your content and artwork... Keep it up...
You'll still have to clean the whole machine everytime you switch colors... He should have at least 4 machines with their own container.... But he can use the same batteries for all of them! ;)
Agreed. Premix your colors in multiple cups and see if theres a jar top that fits on them, then have 2 additional cups with water. your dirty water for first rinse, and second for final clean and spray out to clear previous color. I also wonder if theres a fluid/air adjustment for gradient spraying like automotive guns.
The thing you got to "filter" the paint with is actually a viscosity meter. You time it for the cup to drain and then thin or thicken the paint according to what viscosity you want.
I’m glad somebody mentioned it. 😂 watching him use it as a scoop was killing me. It will fix all the sputtering. Filter the paint into a bucket, then thin it roughly, then use the viscosity tool that verify thickness. It will work beautifully! I love your channel! Doke!
Just as a heads up you are useing the ladle/funnel piece incorrectly after adding water to your paint it is used to measure how thin your paint is there is a certain amount of seconds it take to empty...if its too thin the water drips down the wall and if it is too thick you will clog the sprayer
Hey Doke, cool video. About the need for a respirator... the colours in spraycans are combined with volatile solvents, and atomized into very small droplets. Both are hazardous for your lungs, and health. The wallpaint lacks those volatile solvents, but the gun still atomizes the paint. Painting outdoors should be fine. For anyone spraying in closed doors, I'd recommend a cloth like a bandanna around nose and mouth.
@@clarencenolin6660 yes and no. waterbased paint stays longer in your body, and mixes well with your cells, since it is both waterbased, but it has no harmfull fumes. A fantastic idea for street art! Definitely needs to have multiple containers for multiple colors and another container for water. The adjustable pressure on the trigger is a very cool feature. Probably best use for this would be for the bulk of the work (backgrounds, outlines, fills, erasing, larger/ rough details) and cans for the more finely detailed stuff. TL;DR: I have a few pointers on how these sprayers work and how to maintain them from years of using them. I suggest getting a supplemental portable power source. How these sorts of sprayers work: They are still pneumatic (air powered) however instead of having to be hooked up to a separate compressor, it has a small one built in. That's why it's so loud. The compressed air is then split into two areas: the color container and the atomizers. By forcing air into the container, it pushes the color into the little tube and out the center part of the nozzle. The atomizers are those "plastic thingies" mentioned at 5:20. They force the air towards the mist of color, flattening it out to the opposite axis from the atomizers. If they're pointed left and right the color will spread up and down and vise versa. By blocking the flow of air to these, you get the dot nozzle. This give you the three nozzle patterns described at 9:56. Filtering your colors is a very good practice, but it's a preparatory step you should do before you arrive on site. If you use multiple containers, prep them before you head out. This means filtering and watering down so they spray right. Also, if you forget to clean out your sprayer after a job, and the paint dries in it, use acetone instead of water to break down the dried paint. Then rinse with water like normal. Source: I have a spray gun that uses a separate compressor. I have used it over the years for applying a weather-proof coating to decking and out-door furniture, painting a fence, and even spraying glaze onto ceramic pieces. For that last one, filtering is mandatory because of the particle sizes involved. Always clean your tool after use ;) If you don't already have one, a portable power bank would work well for the equipment we see you use. Also, maybe, depending on how sunny it is in Slovakia, you might get a solar powered generator (a portable solar panel and a power bank). You can top up your other batteries while working. It could also charge phones and camera equipment. This depends on how much you use the sprayer, how quick your batteries drain, and how much you'd be willing to spend. A power bank runs ~$300 US and a solar generator set runs from $500 - $2000 US. They also make really small ones just for charging something via USB.
I personally use the Graco UltraMax for small spray painting jobs, they sell seperate containsers with closable lids. And you can also buy cheap liners of the cups. Also because that tool uses an vacuum system you can spray upside down without problems. I know price is a different ballpark but quality is as well. Especially with the wide range of available spraytips.
When it was cutting out a little did you have it tilted to the side or was the paint level getting low? Really impressed with how well it worked and how much coverage you got with just two batteries! Will keep an eye out as it's definitely a tool that could save money and time in the long run! Thanks Doke!
I use this kind of tool all the time, but I have, for my cup spray gun, purchased 5 if the paint containers, so that I dont have to wash every container all the time, and then to clean the gun between colors, I fill one container up with warm water, screw it on, shake it and spray it through until the water comming out is clear. And have a big bucket with a water tight lit on, filled with water to throw the containers with paint in, so that I can clean them at home 👌
Don't know about the main artwork (especially details and outlines) itself but it is definitely great for main color of background. Tnx for idea bro! Cheers!
invest in a extra containers for the spray gun, that way you have some for whatever colors you need and don't need to switch! can even have one with water for cleaning the system. also for straining, do large buckets of your colors at a time instead of directly into the containers. will save time
If you did want to continue to use it, I wonder if you can buy separate containers so you can bring all the colors with you after you filtered them out and then just switch the containers. That way you would actually save more time too. Overall thank you so much for the great video
To make changing colors easier maybe you can purchase multiple paint tanks. Keep a few for different colors and maybe one for water to run through the sprayer to keep it clean during color changes.
Idk if this was mentioned, but you can also use paint thinner instead of the water, 1:1 ratio, you can paint quicker but you’ll get drips of course from holding it long in one spot, paint thinner can also be good to clean the gun
I been using an airless and cup gun on some houses before i paint them and it's freaking fun and super fast.just gotta get a good trigger finger.lol.way to go doke!!
A good tip to save paint if using a roller on a concrete wall is spray the concrete wall with water first before you roll or add some water to your pant tray
Yeah you mix the paint, put it in the that little cup thing, and if it drains in 70 seconds i think, its perfect for the gun. The tube inside the gun also bends, so when you are painting downward it will get the last paint, im sure if you are going to hold it sideways you can turn that tube to the left or right. I think it did a great job considering you were just chucking paint in it. Some paints you buy will work with it without diluting, etc. The best thing about this thing, is that you could mix up custom colours, and buy colours you like in bulk. If you knew for fact that "brand x red" worked perfect in it, instead of ordering it per can, you could order it by the bucket.
i work at a hardware store and we sell these as well as a paint medium to thin out the paint. I assume that makes the paint easier to spray. I know it makes the paint spread out more when painting traditionally. If used in the correct mixture it can make t your paint somewhat transparent.
Just saw this video pop up in my feed and watched it. When cleaning out a sprayer use 100% pure acetone. It works way better than regular paint thinner not to mention water. As someone who uses sprayers for staining home exteriors I can confidently say this.
I just looked, for the Bosch system you can buy paint containers individually and there are a few other companies that have similar systems, sometimes these are compatible with each other there are also many "cheap" manufacturers of airbrushes
look for TEOR, guy from brazil does it with the manual ones, he mixes water before sift, and actually you don't need to clear the "system", just apply new ink and press the trigger till stabilizes with the new color you add
i think the only bad part is because the changing of the colure, i think it’s designed for home painting instead of art, you used it incredible well though, looks like you can achieve a lot of different surfaces and when you have time the piece you could make will probably be really good
The website should carry extra containers for holding the paint, have a few of them for easy change out along with 1 with just water so you can clean the lines in between colors. Awesome work
Hey Doke, great video, as usual. I just wanted to comment that the plastic container you use to fill the gun's reservoir is a hydrometer. It is used to check the density of the paint so that the gun sprays correctly and the paint coverage is optimal. You will have more information in the manual of the gun.
Hi Doke...I work at a paint store...here are a couple tips...1. pre-mix your paint in separate containers with minimal water mixed in...2. you can get paint cups with plastic bags for easy clean up and switching colors...3. buy 2 or 3 guns so don't have clean / switch all the time...some higher end guns have quick change cups
hey i think as you use different cans for different colors you can use different containers for different colors and another one for water that can be useful and convenient.
You can buy the paint hopper buckets that you skate onto the gun their cheap. I use this gun and just bring multiple paint hoppers so I have one for each color I’m using that day
for the color problem you could put sum type of plastic wrap like saran wrap inside 0f it with extra hanging out so you are able to pull it out then when you wanna change the color you can pull it right on out.
if im not mistaken the gun will come apart where the black parts meet the green parts. could buy a few of those particular parts along with the paint cups and just have your colors within already pre-mixed. with the way that you were cleaning the colors you were diluting the colors and they werent the same
Yeah buy more containers for the paint so that you can have multi colors to switch from maybe even one for just water to run through the gun, I use one for work and it helps to have more than one paint holder for different colors!!
Buy a few replacement jugs and designate colors to each jug for quick change between colors with a bucket of water near by to flush the system between color changes
Looks great to buff walls… If you want to use different colors with it just buy a few of these guns… just switch battery and you are ready to go. But with one gun I don’t think this rinsing with water isn’t necessary. Just change the color in the container and rinse with the new color.
Thanks for the video Doke 🙏🏻👊🏻 I paint because it’s good to be creative for my recovery from a brain injury. I have a disability and issues with communication from my brain to my hands (I struggle with dexterity & proprioception in particular). I also get fatigued fast and my hands cramp up. Tools like this help. Especially as I’m on a budget. I use a handheld manual spray grip for block colour - it’s ok but as you said it has its problems, I have much better control with a can when my hands are good. I now stencil where possible for short spray holds 👍🏻 This tool is definitely beneficial for me! Thank you for testing and sharing. I appreciate the videos.
Looks amazing and fun to use. A good idea would be getting multiple of the bottom paint canisters for different colors so you can swap them when needed and not have to worry about cross contamination.
The big canister and battery would be good to fill the background but it would probably be easier to use the smaller canister and battery for the outline and switch back for the main fills.. the fact you can get a clean matte look is great for locations where glare will make it difficult to look at the artwork.. making the art community smarter one video at a time.. thanks again doke
I just used one of these with latex and urethane enamel with no drip issues. There is a center nozzle which the paint comes out from, around that nozzle is a silicone...air cone and a small gap between it and the plastic front piece... HVLP air passes through the gap, pulling paint through the central nozzle as it does. Higher air+less paint can fix spatter issues for what looks like pretty thin paint - maybe you can avoid drip too. Anyways, compared to cans...pretty cheap. I used a corded one, how long does a battery last? I would go and get more sprayer/bucket assemblies, screw unscrewing.
Also Doke, you can use isopropyl alcohol instead of water, alcohol makes the paint more runny and thin, meaning the color would be nice and opaque and it will still be very thin
Nice trial man!...definetly shows the pros and cons of this tool...but like you said ...for backgrounds and flat fils is great...i used this with my father to paint metal aouside doors and porces....so it's cool....until one extend
Technical comment: this type of sprayer is called HVLP - for high volume/low pressure airflow. Old school autobody paint sprayers are LVHP. The higher air pressure creates more overspray than HVLP. I’ve used a corded HVLP sprayer for white paint on scenery and I have another for water based clear coat for furniture. Now I want a cordless. 😀
10:52 the moment you realize the problem, after a lot of dot option red paint love and excitement - well, have to buy two of them (or even three) - fun video to watch, thx
you just need more containers. have one with just water to clean in between changes. You can also try put the paint inside a plastic bag in the container to make color changes easier since the color would be in a bag sitting in side the container instead of just in the container.
Great video. Just a little reminder that the compounds of non dried water based (fume less) paint are also quite harmfull and carcinogenic. Not to mention the additives against spoiling in it. A respirator is mandatory when you atomize these.
Either get multiple tubs (including one with water for cleansing gun between colour switch), or get multiple guns for different colours, battery is easily switched between guns.
I agree with the person who said that you should maybe buy multiple containers and treat them the way you would a spray can. Have a container for each color you want to use. And have one container dedicated for cleaning up the tubes in the machine (filled with water). It's definitely something that will take space, (buying multiple containers) but considering the use you wanna have for them, it can be really worth it. That was really cool actually that tool is really useful. Only downside is the sound for me. It seems pretty loud.
Is it just me or.... it seems so easy to do refillable spraycans with this system. Like a Spraycan with a battery and a small motor, and somewhere to put the Paint in, that would bbe awesome!
You cna buy more pots and caps for the pots i been doing this for years for personal murals with a corded model saved me so much money in buying spray cans for background
TIP FOR THE PAINT CONTAINER, TRY AND SEE IF ANY OTHER TYPE OF JAR OR IF THEY SELL JUST THE CONTAINER PART, SO YOU CAN ALREADY HAVE YOUR PANTS READY TO JUST INSERT IN, USE ONE BOTTLE FOR WATER TO CLEAN THE MACHINE IN BETWEEN USES. BUT ALSO IF YOU CANT FIND ANY TRY AND SEE IF SOME ONE CAN 3D PRINT AN ATTACHMENT FOR USE WITH REGULAR SIZED BOTTLES. just a thought and hope you see this and maybe it helps you perhaps.
@DokeTV the gun is ment to paint walls with one color only and not do to graffity, but you can buy several other containers and use them as ready to go ink.
As a former professional painter (not artistic, but like, house painting) for a flakey wall like that i would use a scraper to get rid of the spare flakes. Or perhaps a power washer, depends on the wall. power washing could turn out badly with some walls. Cuz your new paint layer is going to flake pretty quick.
I painted cars for 10 yrs, my back and shoulder got PTSD from this haha But very cool, and I can definitely see major advantages for it along with your traditional cans and such. I can't wait to see how you incorporate it in the future 🤘🤘
Do you know what size needle the air cap uses on this spray gun? The part in question on your spray gun is called the air horns. Assuming that the holes are functional, it would flatten out your spray pattern to give you the "chisel" look. While directing air away from the horns would give you more of a "bullseye" look.
Contact the distributor, it may be kompernass or grizzly tools (is should say in the instruction manual). Maybe they sell the containers separately, with a few extra you could swap colors by only purging the system and still have other colors ready for a quick change.
For more sharper lines you can always try the painter's trick of using an edger card, would prevent overspray on straight lines and can totally customize them for different radius as well! If you get more cups you can always have one full of warm water to purge the tool of paint between colors. Even though the larger amp hour batteries are heavier, they are actually better for the gun as well because they have more power that allows the torque of the tool to decrease more slowly and thusly the gun will work better!
You should be able to half pull the trigger to keep the fan running to have another exits between strokes assuming it’s anything like the ones I’ve used in the automotive industry
For 35€ you could even buy a couple of them since, unlike the color, the battery is easy and fast to swap.
Or maybe just buy more containers
Yea I would say you can get like 6 more containers use one for water only and the rest for different colors so you only need to switch the container and not the color
In my country the batteries cost 35 € each and the bigger one is 45 i think. Its a bit too over price for my way to see it xD
lol

I paint because it’s good to be creative for my recovery from a brain injury.
I now stencil where possible for short spray holds 👍🏻
This tool is definitely beneficial for me!
I just bought one to try out. I want to see how it does with backgrounds.
Pre thin with water before filtering or using the zahn cup to determine flow rate/viscosity. Just some red seal knowledge to be happily shared.
This tool looks really good, It worth to buy it I think
Autopainters usually use solvent to make the paint less dense which allows them to pour the paint through very fine mesh filters
You’re finally back in my Recommended videos. TH-cam has been horrible with their recommendations.
i just relized this is uploaded on my bday so cool
10:52 the moment you realize the problem, after a lot of dot option red paint love and excitement - well, have to buy two of them (or even three) - fun video to watch, thx
Parkside should sponsor for the yet to come increase of sales of that pistol... ill definitely buy one! thanks a lot man
you just need more containers. have one with just water to clean in between changes.
Will be trying this out i have multiple color containers should make it easier or i'd hope so lol.
Either get multiple tubs (including one with water for cleansing gun between colour switch), or get multiple guns for different colours, battery is easily switched between guns.
The funnel is a measuring device for testing viscosity - the speed at which it empties is the measurement.
It has it perks for sure, especially for fill in and background use.
They actually sell plastic liners to put in the container for easier transition. Only needing to clean the tubing and upper portion.
Man I was thinking that should I buy this to use in my house.
Your vid really informative.
You should try painting with one of those large backpack fogger/sprayers!
Is it just me or.... it seems so easy to do refillable spraycans with this system. Like a Spraycan with a battery and a small motor, and somewhere to put the Paint in, that would bbe awesome!
I was waiting for him to put in a thick paint. Ive seen some have very heavy vanish but it still runs.
U can purchase multiple containers.. it would be very cheap and u can have all the colours pre-filled and just attach them as required
Loved the intro 😂❤️🙌🏽
I painted cars for 10 yrs, my back and shoulder got PTSD from this haha But very cool, and I can definitely see major advantages for it along with your traditional cans and such. I can't wait to see how you incorporate it in the future 🤘🤘
@@stephenfrancis303 HAHA SATA Jet Mini would be EPIC!!!! We need a "Backpack Air Compressor" STAT!
A great tool to add to your collection with a couple more containers that will help alot 👌 keep up the quality work
For dripping paint you can increase or decrease the amount of paint the gun spray out with a small wheel on the machine
Love that style dokesta, keep it up the og graffiti style, love ya work
For more sharper lines you can always try the painter's trick of using an edger card, would prevent overspray on straight lines and can totally customize them for different radius as well!
