I gotta say, I’ve been getting really cynical lately, burned by a lot of crap going on in the world. So many supportive people just showing appreciation for a guy who’s seriously talented and teaching others. Ya’ll gave me some hope again. Thank you!
Hell I always thought Mexican/Latino(a), Puerto Rican, or any other Spanish sided ethnicities had the custom touch. Whenever I see a custom paint job, airbrush, metal flake, candy, or metallic, it’s usually always done by them. Brilliant work I see. I’ve noticed over the years that certain races have certain skills, simply that no one else can master.
@@daveyrock6521 I mean, I wouldn’t say specific races have talents others don’t, but I’d say certain cultures are known for strong talents in different areas. Mexican and Latino culture has deep roots in low rider communities so I agree with the amount of talented painters coming from there is super high.

Back many many years ago I sprayed several cycles and helmets with Metalflake! What I used was an good ole Binks #7 spray gun that had a cup that had an air powered magnetic paddle inside the cup that would keep the Metalflake suspended. I still have some of those boxes of Metalflake! Lol! Tom
Best spray gun ever in my opinion. Back in the day i painted with that gun ALOT of cars. I sprayed alot of Amer-flint on cars in Florida. The only paint that would last in the sun besides Imron. The 36sk head would spray metal flake nice. Very coarse flake. Heavy gun that a man had to use! I used to have a strong back and a weak mind. Now just have the weak mind. Lol
So I did it, I sprayed flake. I had a lot of problems with my 2 mm gun clogging and the only thing I could do was pour out the flake back into my mixing cup between coats and spray a little solvent through the gun. Less than idea but it got me through the process. I’ve seen guys toss a couple nuts into the paint cup on their spray gun to get things moving. I used a much larger flake though. I sprayed Candy Shops .015 flake, looks good now with a HOK Kandy Apple Red. It was a serious process though.
Best to use a siphon feed gun then you can put a couple of marbles in the cup and give it a slight stir at the end of your pass ad it will keep the metal flake suspended in the cup so it flowed out evenly.... you can also use low pressure and a dry metal flake gun or mix it with clear... Looking good ...
