What's the weather in Franklin, especially the heat and humidity? What's the altitude? A retiree and presently living in Mexico, I'm thinking of re-locating to TN. I'm looking for a place that's a small city with access to someplace bigger, like Nashville. I insist upon a place that's not hot and humid, likely a place with altitude. And, of course, a place that's retiree friendly.
Franklin is an AMAZING city, especially if you're looking for a small town feel. Lots of great restaurants and shopping, with a slower pace and welcoming people. Very retiree friendly! The weather in the summer is typically around 70-80 in May and June. July is usually the hottest month - usually in the 90s with some humidity... totally bearable! Altitude is 643' with beautiful rolling hills throughout the city! We'd definitely recommend a visit! We know you'll love it! :)
Ron Carpenter hi Ron, I’m from the franklin area but I have also lived in Mexico!!i live in Miami now, but Franklin is a very nice place to live but it is expensive compared to Mexico snd summer can be quite humid, but not nearly as bad as Miami where I am currently. Maybe take a exploratory trip to Nashville/Franklin and experience it for yourself. If you want to live more in the mountains, considered Knoxville or east TN, almost much less expensive but also smaller town feel. Where are you living in Mexico? I lived in Queretaro! :)
@@LindseyDara Thanks for your reply. I live in Zacatecas. As you might know it's fairly close to Queretaro. I spent several weeks in Q when I first came on an exploratory trip. It was a consideration, but Zacatecas won out, mainly because of the weather, beauty and it's less industrialized. Do you know Zacatecas? I agree that east TN might be a better option for me, hopefully less heat. I was thinking of either Knoxville or Chattanooga. What do you think of them, especially the weather? Maybe Chattanooga is too touristy and Knoxville is too, well, "orange". Keep in mind that I won't move for about nother 10 years (I've actually lived here for 20) and I might not move at all; I like it here and I would only move because because of my age factor; now 70. Sorry to hear about the tornado in Nashville. --Ron
@@roncarpenter7240 You will definitely have hotter weather and more humidity in Chattanooga as it's right on the Georgia border, and Georgia can be unbearable with it! You'll notice how the soil and trees are different than other areas of the state, and changing in Chatt being more south. Nasvhille area still gets some snow and ice in winter, while many folks in Chatt complain they never see snow. You might be best off in the burbs of Knoxville, or out in the country around Knoxville.. like Newport, White Pine, Sevierville etc. Just keep in mind the higher in the mountains you go out in the country, the more snow, obviously! But many folks seem to overlook that sometimes as they think TN wont see any at all. Stay away from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge areas as it's highly touristy. Good to visit, not to live. North East TN (Knoxville area and above) might be a better option too with all the forest cover and hiking trails etc., always cooler in the forest. Things to consider!
NOT a small town!!! It used to be. But now even going to the store takes an hour when it used to take 15 minutes or 5 minutes. We're being pushed out but we have no idea where to move to.

@@scholarlyanalyst7700 like all 4 seasons here, the winters are very mild. We get 2-3 pretty snows per year that usually melt by evening. Just long enough for us to enjoy them!
I know I was in Nashville as a kid! It was STUNNINGLY beautiful; though I am not sure if I was in Franklin at any point? I would only like mild weather places (like Tennessee!). Although Victoria, Canada - and surroundings - might be nice, too!
@@TheSouthboundGroup Reply 2 of 2 In Victoria, Canada - and surrounding communities - the winter daytime temperatures are somewhat similar to Franklin, Tennessee. But its winter nights are MUCH milder than the winter nights are in Franklin, making for an overall milder winter climate in Victoria, Canada (versus Franklin, Tennessee).

Franklin is by far my favorite place to visit in Tennessee. ❤️

Our campground is about 90 mins from Franklin - we used to live there and loved it!
Great to hear about how historic preservation ensures Franklin's "unique vibe isn't compromised by future growth and development!"
