  • Now almost 2 years into Tennessee, the reasons we moved out of California and settled in Tennessee, are now more apparent than ever. We can confidently say, we made the right choice and have never looked back. We have embraced East Tennessee and look forward to giving ourselves back to this awesome state!
Thank you for watching and subscribing. We appreciate every one of y'all watching and hope watching Californians get settled in Tennessee is semi-entertaining.

Please specify what southern traditions and way of life you are talking about. What is a "true southerner" in the USA today? Everywhere in the USA today, there are a lot of people formerly from somewhere else. Your "way of life" is not under your control, you can only control yourself.

    • @franka2743
      @franka2743 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

@@chrysr7773 these points could be argued until we're blue in the face, however once upon a time many Southerners did indeed have their own culture, and some still do, and no it wasn't just racism.
Of course there's our accent, and there's variations of our accents depending on the region, we had our own taboos and "southern manners" thing going on, and what northerners call "soul food" is/was simply food to us, its just what we eat.. And back in the day religion was taken way more seriously in parts of the south (hence, "the bible belt ") and there was a church on pretty much every other block, but of course this varied I suppose. I remember when I was little it was still shameful (and mostly unheard of) to have multiple "baby daddy", to be drunks, etc., and most everyone in an area knew everyone else. And in the more rural areas people would (and some still occasionally do) even wave at you as pass each other on the road in cars lol (the "southern hospitality" thing, again), etc.
Time just flowed differently for us.
I remember this very well when I was a small child (I'm in my early forties now).
And contrary to popular belief there's tons of black people in the South and for the most part we've gotten along just fine for a long time now, at least where I've lived.
Also, black Southerners have their own variations of culture as well.
When I was a youth and visited up north the differences in our cultures were obvious.
But of course white Southerners are the only people for whom it's PC to make fun of, so we catch all the hell.
But the South was much more than racism.
By the way, to the haters, I don't give two fks what you think about us.
      ✌️to everyone.
P.S of course it could be different for different Southerners from different places and different situations, I'm just speaking from my personal point of view.
And when we ask you to respect the way that we live, just asking you to leave behind the politics and thinking that destroyed the places from which your fleeing.

Yes, southern hospitality is a real thing. We learned to be patient, learned that people do appreciate it when you hold the door open for them as opposed to being sneered at in California, learned that disagreements about who has the best bbq is a serious matter, looking forward to watching our Single A baseball team this spring and loving each day for what it brings us.

I welcome every single Californian with open arms to this beautiful place. You will become family. Just please remember why you are fleeing your state and how it made you feel when it started to change for the worst. I think the remedy for the tragedy of Cali is people moving to new places like TN and learning a new happy way of life. I would be lying if it didn't scare us a little at first but but I have faith in our culture, beliefs, and way that has the power to really give people what their true heart desires instead of just filling the hole in their soul temporarily. It makes me smile to see a Californian get here and start understanding how we live, love and the happiness it can bring them. Please come visit us in the smoky mountains soon. Tennessee changes from one end of state to the other. West TN. Is flat and open. Memphis probably not the best area. Nashville is nice in the outskirts, but downtown is turning liberal. Chattanooga has small mountains, good shopping. Knoxville it good place if you don’t mind crowds. Northeast Tn, has mountains, trout fishing, hunting, it is excellent for outdoors people. Not as populated. A 1800 sf home in rural TN is less than $200k. No state income tax.

The girl in the video used the term "local yokel" to describe herself as a native Tennessean from the local area. Maybe from Maryville/Blount County? East Tennessee is a great place for many reasons. The Entire West Coast from Western WA down to the Boarder of Mexico, people have lost their minds towards one another. The saddest part is they act like they don't notice any thing wrong with treating one another like zombies!!!

It's creeping into that way in Ohio in some areas too because of the rona. Some people are losing their humanity, and it's sad, and honestly, a little disturbing.

Got to say, I left California 10 years ago and live in eastern Tn in the mountains. Life is amazing. Californians I know complain it rains or snows to much here, I laugh. Look around you I say, see the green lush forest of hardwoods and the wild turkey and deer and other critters? That only here because of the rain/snow. In California most of it is brown, dead grasses even in the foothills, all the water that naturally went to the central part of the state is in the California aqua duct headed for LA because that area can’t support 1/100th of the population without it, leaving much of California brown. Want Freedom? There is none in California, they take most of your money, overburden you with rules, regulations and permits and if you don’t think or act how they want you are canceled and they feel good about it. Tennessee, do what you want as long as it doesn’t effect anyone else negatively (not their feelings but in fact) If you want 5 acres in the woods to disappear in, be self sufficient don’t owe anything to anyone except your self, your God and your neighbors that is a doable dream in Tennessee, In California? Please.

Living in Alabama for years, but Seriously wanting to move to east Tennessee. I love mountain towns. As someone who grew up living in So Cal back in 1981-94 when Cali was cool to live there. Everyone wanted to live in Cali. When people back east would ask what So Cal was like, there was a lot of pressure to impress others. Brands, style, what you own. I saw the early signs of every problem they have now, overpopulation, pollution, drought, higher crime, Democrats from everywhere moving in. Reagan was prez. Too young to understand what that meant to USA. Conservatism was to be proud of. Hope TN doesn't suffer the same fate. Or any other.

Haha, those Jones', they're just not good for ya! I'm a native Oregonian. Grew up in a small town on the coast. Graduated in a High School class of 54 and 48 of those I started Kindergarten with. Both my Wife's and my family were from California. Nearly all of our living relatives are still in California. I know what you're taking about. I don't even recognize Oregon now. A friend of mine since 4th grade lives in South Carolina right now. He and I and one other classmate are looking to buy adjoining retirement lots to build on in Tennessee. I want to move back to the America I grew up in.

I have lived in Tennessee for 21 years now. I have lived in 7 Eastern/Southern states but I ❤️ Tennessee the best. My biggest concern is that Blue staters are leaving their Blue states because the democrats they voted in have made their states miserable to live in. People come to Tennessee because we are a vibrant, successful, beautiful state but please leave your Blue State values and voting pattern behind you in the failed state you are leaving. Please don’t come here and turn our red state purple or blue. You will as surely destroy this state as your voting destroyed the state you are escaping. With that I will say that Eastern Tennessee, from Chattanooga to Johnson City, is drop dead gorgeous especially Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Welcome to Tennessee and please keep it great by voting Red!

I'm moving from Tennessee from Los Angeles because I am a hardcore Conservative and Christian and I can't stand Gavin Newsom and the Democrats and I'm ready to live in a place where people like God, Guns, and Freedom!!
