I was stationed there for three years.
I WAS SAFER BACK IN NEW YORK.
While I’ve been in New York, two speeding tickets, nothing more.
While in Clarksville, my car was broken into twice, ID stolen once, had a gun pulled on me & my house was robbed three times.
By the way, if the locals don’t kill you, the boredom will.

Clarksville is the new Detroit. Industry moving in... Carpetbaggers moving in... Crime moving in... High taxes moving in...
Literally a shooting every day. Seems like nobody is talking about some of the highest violent crime rates because it is being swept under the rug.
Cost of living is out of control now. 5 years ago you could buy a house for under 100,000... now shithole ramblers in shithole neighborhoods are in excess of 150,000.

I love the way they leave out the high crime rate, I've lived in Dallas, Atlanta, and Las Vegas but yet I'm still amazed at how much crime exists here. Child Support System is highly flawed, not to mention the odd amount of inmate deaths. The Cumberland is a cesspool of bacteria due to the fact that waste water is drained into it, signs are literally posted on Riverside guardrails. The only true shopping area is Wilma Rudolph and that road is always congested, there is a one story mall, a Target and 3 Walmart, each one is over crowded on the weekends. Madison St and the Sango area is the perfect place for anyone looking to hit a pedestrian who decides to just cross out in the middle of nowhere, and don't get me started on New Providence and 101. Anyone who thinks this place is the best place to live has to be able to afford to live up near Dunbar Cave, cause they have on some rose colored glasses

There are few sketchy spots but nothing compared to East LA or even Downtown LA...

Don't forget the over population, yes it's grown but the infrastructure is still the same. business, resteruants, houses still no sidewalks and no neighborhoods don't count. Technical you should be able to walk from one end of the city to the other if you so desire. The traffic is a nightmare you can't get anywhere in this city when school a out or works done. 10min drive can turn into 30to 45 depending the time of day and if there is an accident which is every day pretty much the hole city is gridlocked. Not enough roads to bypass the school zone traffic nightmare or the constant accidents. And lastly how many stinking car dealerships, matriss firms, and check in to cash places does this city need cause honestly those three things describes Clarksville better than anything. I do have more to say just not enough space.

It is truly all about perspective. I was contemplating Chattanooga as well as Clarksville. Chattanooga is definitely more busy because it's at a crossroads and one of the larger cities in Tennessee. And the truth is is that has areas that are depressed and higher crime as opposed to other areas that they're hardly is any crime. Ask yourself what you want in the city. The truth is in both towns you can get whatever you need and some of what you want. What do you want? The larger cities are always going to cost you more. I watch real estate regularly and yes the prices have increased in Clarksville but nothing like Eastern Tennessee. The house is in the past 2 years have literally tripled and quadrupled. While in Clarksville I see they've doubled and yet they're still reasonable. Chattanooga real estate has increased as well. I think both places are very natural but I think Chattanooga has more to do in nature. You are literally a hop away from Atlanta, Knoxville and Nashville. It's not a city that we're going to move to that doesn't have crime so you have to decide what city you want to live your life in and what neighborhood. Good luck.

Clarksville used to be a great place to live. I have lived in the area a total of just over 10 (non consecutive) years. The problem is people moving from Nashville. People moving from Nashville are bringing their problems with them. Crime is way up! Housing prices are way up! School performance is decreasing and traffic is only getting worse. This is a military community and we have standards. These standards are not being met. There have been a lot of youth breaking into cars. There have been more robberies and an increase in hit an runs. It is important to know that Clarksville is a gun totting town and I see it coming. These teenagers are going to break into some Soldier's house or car and end up dead! Mark my words it's gonna happen. If you are struggling in Nashville don't come to Clarksville. We don't want or need needy people. We don't feel sorry for people who don't/can't support themselves. However if your are educated, skilled, or a veteran it is pretty easy to make a living in town. Nashville commuters are driving up prices in Clarksville and it is hurting this town. CLARKSVILLE IS NOT A SUBURB OF NASHVILLE! Don't treat it like one. If you want to be a part of Clarksville, live and work in Clarksville, GREAT! We don't want to be Nashville, so leave your problems there!

As a native I can attest. The area around Apsu especially is dangerous. There's surprsingly a lot of shootings here every year. Memphis is only 2 hours away and that is also a dangerous place. Clarksville certainly does not have good government resources for the poor. This is why I left. No such thing as upward mobility. If you need resources just go to Nashville (that's expensive for the state).

Money magazine ruined Clarksville! Housing prices have skyrocketed. Schools are overcrowding! Traffic is horrible. And the people who have moved here have bad attitudes.

Abysmal location. We hate it here. My poor kids are so bored. Tell me why every business along the water is a loan shark or bail bondsmen?! Why there isnt 1 nice restaurant or something is beyond me. Even the “popular” food joints are garbage. Cost of living is average but thats because the place is surrounded by meth labs and crappy infrastructure. The homes all look like Gru’s house from the minion movies and everything is grey. Speaking of homes, we never leave ours anymore

My perspective from living 20 mins outside Los Angeles near East LA hearing people talk about Clarksville and crime is a joke. I've been here 3 years now and let me tell you when you can roll up to a store on your bike and not lock it up or pull up to a gas station go inside leaving your vehicle running with music blasting and not get car jacked you're not in a bad area.. graffiti is almost non existent vs going to any public bathroom in California where the walls, toilet seats and mirrors are all tagged up .
I guess to locals it could be bad but the crime here is almost non existent with respect to certain areas which are somewhat isolated like Kraft ast etc.. imagine Kraft St or Providence BL from Riverside up to Rural King but it's the whole city you live in plus all surrounding cities but you actually have active gangs beefing. As far as I can tell theres mainly just Blood sets here, now imagine LA and the tons of Hispanic gangs all rocking south side but beefing between sets and gangs.. on top that the drug problems youd probably find in downtown Nashville and homelessness are in every city. Pan handlers everywhere, tweakers and dope fiends..
Again it's all perspective so if you only lived in Clarksville it could appear bad but nothing like where I was in Cali..

Been here since 09, want to leave so bad. Neighbours were murdered in 2014, and again in 2016, 2017, and 2019... Place is overall boring unless you're an old, retired person. And don't get me started on the poorer areas which are often overlooked and ignored, so crime there skyrockets. Hell, even a person pull a gun on my boss while at work a few weeks ago. Fun times. Yea, this place is dogshit compared to other places I've been to and lived :/

I've lived here for 22 years and it's growing too fast. Traffic is crazy, housing isn't as cheap and affordable as everyone makes it out. The down town area shown in the video is a joke, no night life that they are referring to at all. Not sure how this city made it to #1. Houses popping up all over, cheaply built stick home neighborhoods. The crime is increasing as well. I'd look elsewhere.

If you want to go work at a factory or warehouse 45 minutes away clarksville is you. Jobs are not totally easy to get there unless you you plan on working in a restaurant or fast food for the rest of your life. If you even try looking for a job all people will recommend is the “military” I’ve met the slimiest people in my life living here for almost 5 years. I have never been so happy moving AWAY
