      RedBirdAuto I’ve been doing some research on the terminator x max. My biggest issue is did you make a stand alone harness for your obs and ls wiring then put them together? Then did you hook them up to the Holley system?

    Nice, Been planning on putting a 5.3 in my 96 c1500. Nothing crazy just want to run again. Wiring scares me the most, I got an engine and complete wire harness from a 2001 suburban 4x4. Hopefully make that work.

    The original OBS harness should have had 2 speed signals from the pcm to the cab, one was for your cluster the other was for Radio/TCCM/Cruise

    • @Matt-df5fe
      @Matt-df5fe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesnt have a stock PCM anymore. The Holley handles Engine and Transmission control.

    • @ccmsbandfan
      @ccmsbandfan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Matt, of course, splice those two speed signal wires and tie them into that output wire from your terminator, you’ll get a signal for your Cruise control

    • @Matt-df5fe
      @Matt-df5fe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ccmsbandfan I'll definately do that when spring comes. I may need to source a cruise module off a newer silverado that came with an LS. Apparently the cable lengths changed but he electrical didnt. Will touch on that in a future update.

    • @ccmsbandfan
      @ccmsbandfan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Matt You don’t need the whole module, just the cable from the NBS trucks. It hooks up just like the OBS oem cable

    With both complete trucks side by side in the shop (90 Silverado k2500/tbi5.7 and 00 Silverado k1500/5.3), 411 ecm. Of coarse, there is the motor mount plate to purchase, and a harness I will do myself. Considering a dedicated work day for a crew of one experienced mind connected to a pair of talented hands, how quick could this swap be done safely and pro-grade? Whats the cheapest?
    ECM flash excluded, I am going the just buy my own tune software/hardware.
    Thanks for the input

    Awesome video. Your the first person I have seen with the terminator and using the OEM speedometer.. A video of the speedometer would be awesome..I am doing the same 6.0 swap with the terminator x max in a 1990 OBS and can't find info on a stock speedometer

    • @Matt-df5fe
      @Matt-df5fe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On my setup I simply set the TermX to output a speedo signal on one of the outputs and then hooked that directly to the speedo wire from the factory harness. It works OK. i'm going to get a GPS speedo module from Dakota Digital and use that to run the speedo and free up a Termx output. It'll be hopefully more accurate.

  • @jackpinnell3204

    FYI...when I did the elect/fan conversion on my 89 K1500 I used the fans from a LT1 Camaro/Firechicken and relayed it the same as in this video. Didn't have the A/C working at the time. Put a new A/C compressor, dryer, etc on the truck and had to add another relay to turn one fan on when the A/C kicked in. Without the extra relay to turn the fan on with the A/C compressor the high side pressure would go sky high.

    I have a question. I own a 93 silverado with the 350 bone stock everything. Sometimes it will stroke out and start missing and even backfiring up through the intake. Then at other times it runs perfect. This drives me nuts. I know something electrical ( module ) is breaking down but which one. Anyone who may have had this problem, advice welcome. Distributor module maybe? Example, truck sits for a few days, cranks great, drive it to the store and shut it off. Come out of store, crank it up and stroke time. Can't give it any throttle because it will stumble and start backfiring. Any answers welcome !!! 👍

      the holley manual says what it needs. key on pwr, fuel pump trigger, brake lamp signal....stuff like that, it only needs a few wires. as far as what wires on your harness do what? i can't answer that. i did this 2 years ago and definately have forgotten which wires. try to find a wiring diagram on the internet that shows the specific pinouts from the old ECM, that should help tell which wires you need.

      If you're going to swap in a motor then you'll be swapping in some kind of newer computer, either stock or aftermarket (holley, etc) The OEM computer will be irrelevant. As far as the swap? no problems, other than maybe headers. Schoenfeld makes swap headers but not sure they fit 4WD.

      You don't tie into the ignition switch. it just needs a key-on power source. when I stripped my OEM harness down i found a few Key-on wires that wouldn't be needed and reserved 2 of those, one for ecm harness, one for trans harness.

      @@Matt-df5fe I know it has a fuel pump wire I was wondering which wire on the harness to hook it too... I tapped it into the grey wire but it wouldn’t cut the fuel pump on

    So the holley part about the tune to get it running? Do I need a special program?

      No it's a self learning unit, but you can tune it to better dial it in if you wish

      Holley has the software on their website for free. It has a wizard on the handheld that will build a base map and will fire and run and adjust with closed loop. The more I use it the more I understand that for full potential it needs a proper tune.
