Definitely has to be playing the TCG. The feeling of just physically interacting with your opponent and the thrill and excitement that comes along with it is completely unmatched when playing the game through different means.
My favorite way to play is the same with any TCG: Some friends, a bunch of "random" cards and whatever we can do with those. Not sure if YGO has Cube Drafts or not, but it's the closest "official" way of playing to what I like the most about playing card games with friends. Running solo the games are obviously the way to go but I prefer the single player games in that instance. I played at least 80 hours each of the GX games on PSP and Forbidden Memories for the PS1 was really fun because of the wacky, try and fuse anything, gameplay. Have fun duelists!
That was awesome! I've never been to a con that big before. Seeing a whole official booth from Konami dedicated to just Yugioh is so sweet. My favorite is the TCG. It's just a lot of fun to be able to play in person and talk to your opponent.
Honestly, after playing duel links, master duel, and recently getting back into the tcg, i have to say my favorite way to play is the tcg. It's just so much more enjoyable to talk with other people around you that enjoy the same hobby as you and discuss different cards and other aspects of Yugioh we like in general. This was an awesome/wholesome video and congrats to whoever wins the playmat!
Personally my fave way to "play" is masterduel. It just keeps things like and clean. No one is going to accidentally cheat or get confused over card lingo or a chain so a judge needs to come in. Its just a lot less to think about. The social element is great but i would 100% just walk up to someone with a tablet if that was a thing. Playing masterduel in person would be as close to ideal as i could get. Yugioh IRL is just a bit complex for casual fun nowadays. I just like having the "judge" ok everything so we can just enjoy the game itself. For the social part i would 100% duel in person, i just prefer masterduel when it comes to actually playing the game. Not to mention the energy it takes to play 5 games IRL would be enough to play 20 in masterduel. Thats both good and bad. Basically i like to play masterduel but would still go to events and local tournaments if possible for a different kind of fun where its less about the pureness of the game and more about the competition and social interaction with other fans of said game.
This video was so fun! I love the way that everything is shot and edited. Honestly, I love dueling digitally. Playing in paper is awesome, but games like Master Duel and Legacy of the Duelist help when I don't have people to play with or don't feel like going out.
Reasons like this why I’ve really come to enjoy remote duelling. Just a shame there isn’t a discord server for people like this. I can only duel my friend across planet 😂
I just look forward to the day they perfect VR tech for card games or atleast a full voice chat/facecam experience without so much setup or worries that someone's going to show up naked. Not that i particularly care about such things.

This is so cool, I wish we had this kind of events in Barcelona... A few years ago you could play in Yu-gi-oh tournaments in Manga Barcelona but they stopped doing that
I wish we had cool events like this in my country. Duel was pretty cool though I do wish they would play janky decks or an archetype from the latest set to promote instead of branded despia with guaranteed die-roll win because it was a bit painful because I'm sure we're all sick of it at this point. Though I'm sure he and the other Konami duelist had a variety of decks we never got to see!
In person TCG has always been my fav way to play Yu-Gi-Oh. I have enjoyed Master Duel, but being able to hold the cards and actually interact with my opponent is just so much more fun for me.
I used to play on master duels, but I stopped due to afk players, long que time, and DD-Dynamite bots. I really liked how much customization you could do with your deck, and how little to no money you had to put in the.
Man this seems like a pretty nice event for sure! I'd love to get a token of myself sometime. My favorite way to play Yugioh is the TCG, I just love the feeling of the cards, mixing the deck, drawing them... but next to that, I like to use Dueling Nexus to try out new decks before building them IRL, so those are my two favorite ways!
"I am the 'master' so I get to choose turn player" "That's...fair" *proceeds to draw and use entire deck* Anyway, I play Duel Links because it has a banger soundtrack of like 100+ songs at this point, it's basically as close to the anime as the card game will ever get. You just use your broken skills to beat your opponent's broken skills. Literal plot armor. It's beautiful. Plus, it actually has 3d models for boss monsters, unlike the terrible rotoscope animations of MD.
My favorite way to play has been with the actual cards and in person. It's an experience like no other to be across from your opponent and seeing the emotions of playing this game. It also has made me so many lifelong friends It's a great game
This event looked amazing wish I could’ve gone. Master duel actually brought me back into Yugioh and has made me actually want to play tcg. I do have a question: If I’m building a deck is it better to roll what I want from boxes or buy cards separately? I’m thinking swordsoul
Some decks especially top tier you want to buy separately. Some sets like reprint sets its might be great to but a booster box like legendary duelist, ghost of the past and maximum gold series to see what you get and build off a specific deck for fun
We as the behalf of the yugioh community want to say that the creator of yugioh has unfortunately passed. May the soul and body rest easy as his game and shows will be forever known as the king of games. Thank you Kazuki Takahashi for every thing you did for us, by making our childhood actually our childhood. May your memory live in with the great respect and honor. Fly high king of games
Since he summoned another copy of it, that restriction isn't there anymore. If you use mirrorjade and then banish/send it to gy/extra deck and you summon it again, you can use the effect
My favorite way to play Yu-Gi-Oh is irl with my small group of friends. We all basically gave up on learning new mechanics past Synchro Summoning so we're just a bunch of old school nerds playing like we used to in 2002/03. It's more about the people you play with rather than the game itself for me, as long as it's a fun time.
Althought Yu-Gi-Oh! has certainly changed throughout the 20 years, I still love playing older decks like Batteryman, Morphtronics and ofcourse Cyberdragons! My best friend and I still love it more to play the more older decks and of the thousands of old cards we have we sometimes just blindly scramble random cards and hope we have a better deck. Seeing this duel has made me a bit uncomfortable since I somehow cannot get used to how fast the duel can be over. I have recently been trying to keep up after a LONG pause and oh boy it does always surprise me what people can do with their decks. Anyway, loved the vid!
My fav way to play is at the local game store with the boys, love the atmosphere and just being around people who love the game just as much as I do, brings a big old smile to my face
Awesome video! While playing IRL will always be king, I don’t have a lot of friends or places to play it and Master Duel has been the best thing for me to play with others! I stopped playing after synchro summoning and came back when duel links was launched but it was much simpler. I didn’t understand how pendulum or link summoning worked and Master Duel helped me learn all the summon mechanics as well as more complex things like “missing the timing” and other rulings. Now I feel like I know what decks are going to do and how they have their different win conditions when before I couldn’t even link summon!
I used to love playing with my friends in highschool. After about 5 years of not playing, we've been hitting up local cardshops to get back into the game. I've been finishing up my old madolche deck while my friends are making dark magicians and ghostricks.
I used to play the TCG as a kid and young teen with my friends, as an adult over 10 years later I'm getting back into the TCG after playing masterduel for a few months. Loving coming back into the game and rediscovering how much fun the TCG can be!
TCG with friends in person is definitely my favourite way to play. I’m glad MD is an option though as it’s what got me into the game and is fun to play when you can’t make it to locals or a friend’s place.
I really love Master Duel. I love being able to play with my friends easily, without needing to see them in person. It also has an amazing solo mode, and it shows me more about the different archetypes and how you can put them together. It also helps that I don't need to spend an exorbitant amount of money.
So cool you did a vid on this^^ my favourite way is still Duel links because of the fast pace. Master duel is fun as well, but it takes a lot of time sometimes to finish just one game.
I just love the TCG irl playing. I play with some buddies from school and I love Master duel, but the feeling of actual cards in your hand is just something I can’t beat!
My favorite way to pay is definitely with cards. I love playing with my sister-in-law because we just have tons of fun playing with old school cards and strategies and it really makes me feel like a kid again. Just holding the cards and laughing with someone while you play is the reason I loved this game when I was young and it's the same reason I love it now.
video was awesome! can but can’t believe he was running despia branded! id have to say favorite way to play yugioh is definitely at events and locals for sure meeting new people is the best!
As a fellow Yugioh Content creator I personally got back into the game through Duel links, then master duel, now played a few tourneys at my locals and by far playing the TCG at a local card shop is so much more fun. Being able to interact with real life people who love the same game as you is irreplaceable. Loved the video and duel Paul.
I love playing the Tcg, only played one game on the DS back in the day, but when Master Duel came out, that's what really got me back in the game. With Quarantine going on, building my decks weren't as much fun. I only have my one roommate who I could play with.
My favorite way for sure to play is tcg. There's no better experience than sitting down with a group of people at the card shop and laying down cardboard. The camaraderie you get being with people that share the same passion is immeasurable!
I like playing Yu-Gi-Oh all the different ways because I learn new combos and I especially like playing the TCG because that's how I started and it is how I like playing with my friends
This looked so fun! I’ve been watching your videos for a while and the content you guys put out is really cool, from the theme deck duels to the house tournaments. For me it has to be the tcg as it’s just fun to duel in person and I don’t have to deal with wifi issues :p
My favorite way to play Yugioh is hosting a mini-tournament with some friends and playing using fun decks! Stuff like Exodia, Toadally Awesome, and my personal favorite Utopia decks. Also sometimes we play by introducing a condition like "Pot of Greed is unbanned at 3" then we build our decks around that and have tons of fun.
My favourite way to play Yu-Gi-Oh is anything I can play with friends. From TCG, to speed duel or wacky rules to spice it up. Nothing like just hanging out with friends and playing a shared hobby.
My favorite way to play is definitely playing in person. Theres something about being able to interact with the cards that makes the process so much more enjoyable. Big bonus due to having friends around while doing it
Favorite way to play is tcg definitely have a lot of memories playing with friends and although the creator has passed he is given such a wonderful opportunity in the game we know and love today. Great video as always
Hey great video. I'd say currently my favourite way to play is master duel because it got me and a lot of friends back into the game and we have some fun duels that wouldn't fly in a tournament setting
Ive played Duel Links and the TCG but honestly I like playing the TCG more than anything. It's just more fun to be able to hang out and talk with people about the game and have a blast at locals with everyone.
I love playing the TCG in-person! I used to play online only for the longest time but started getting into in-person events this past year and have had a blast!
My favourite way to play Yugioh is IRL with friends, it's more fun to play face-to-face as well as having conversations with your opponent's afterwards. Coming back after lockdown and playing IRL Yugioh felt oddly satisfying tbph.
I love to play Duel Links because of how accessible it is for a Yu-Gi-Oh! player who isn't super familiar with the TCG meta. I've been playing Duel Links since it came out, and it's been really fun seeing the gameplay evolve with each new summoning mechanic. Really excited to get Link Summoning in a couple months!
My favorite way to play YuGiOh is going down to my locals and meeting chill people and getting the free packs from the tournaments and just all around having a good time with the community face to face
My absolute favorite way to play yugioh is the TCG I love being able to actually hold the card in my hand and being able to look at my favorite cards and I enjoy being able to duel people at locals and make friends and have a good time.
Duel Links reignited my love for Yugioh that I got when I played tag force 5 back in the day. I play digitally but did collect a few cards and got the GX speed duel kit, with hopes to get friends into Yugioh. Definitely looking forward to a 5d speed duel box in the future.... I love me some Synchro summons. Great video, amazing vibes as always. Keep being awesome!
As someone who grew up with yugioh, my favorite way to play is Speed Duels. I get to use a bunch of cards that I grew up with and even some new ones, and the skill cards really add to the game. Not to mention the games and turns go by quicks as there’s no 10 minute long turns of deck searching, special summoning and combo’s
I love playing TCG with pals. I build all the decks and we get to play a couple times a year. My bachelor party was last month and we had a little tournament amongst us with a nice Dark magician trophy for the winner. Never can go wrong with the heart of the cards
I honestly love playing yugioh on duel links and master duel. I can build any deck I want which is way easier than just looking through my locals looking for just one specific card, and I usually play duel links whenever I have free time, and love the characters calling out their monsters
Man this was so AWESOME to watch!! It's so great seeing in-person play again with community. Favorite way to play Yu-Gi-Oh! is defs Master Duel for me but nothing beats the in-person experience!
I always look forward to Team APS's videos, you guys really did bring my joy back to the game. I would say I choose to play digitally because it helps me learn all the new concepts of the game and build strategies where as in person, I'd be wasting time asking questions and reading the texts, plus it's easier to get with friends who's schedules don't always match up
Really great event to go to and meet some of the community of Yu-Gi-Oh! My favorite way to play Yu-Gi-Oh Is Duel Links as it's low powered, has a different ideal banlist, focuses more on the anime and somewhat manga, has skills tailored towards each character, and has fun events to get involved in. I'm more casual there as I love making all kinds of decks and try out techs or engines with an archetype or series that people probably hadn't thought of. Overall, it's really great to see content creators enjoying their time and expand their audience.
master duel actually got me back into the game. It's good having an official way to play yugioh that doesn't necessitate me needing to spend hundreds of dollars on the game.
My favorite way to play yugioh is physical TCG. Simulators are fun, but I like it the best when I have to rely on my knowledge of the deck to create the correct plays rather than having the game be able to guide me.
My favorite way to play the TCG is with my two brothers in person taking score w a paper and a pen. When I was younger we only played with each other since we didn’t know anybody else that had cards. Since then I’ve gone on to play in locals and meet other people, but play in paper with them will always be my favorite.
Just the regular way being the TCG. I've had so many memories dueling throughout all my life as it's one of my well activities I've done all throughout my life. This was a fantastic video for those who couldn't have gone showing what was there and congrats to whoever wins the playmat and may the best duelist win!

My favorite way to play has been with the actual cards and in person. It's an experience like no other to be across from your opponent and seeing the emotions of playing this game. It also has made me so many lifelong friends It's a great game
Yooooo that’s sick!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would want to be there!
Honestly, nothing beats the experience of playing at locals. Perfect mix of competitive and casual, and the community surrounding it is always great
This event looked amazing wish I could’ve gone. Master duel actually brought me back into Yugioh and has made me actually want to play tcg. I do have a question: If I’m building a deck is it better to roll what I want from boxes or buy cards separately? I’m thinking swordsoul
I personally buy them separate
buying them separate would probably be cheaper
Some decks especially top tier you want to buy separately. Some sets like reprint sets its might be great to but a booster box like legendary duelist, ghost of the past and maximum gold series to see what you get and build off a specific deck for fun
Loved the interviews too! This was such a great coverage of the things you can do at the Yu-Gi-Oh booth! Really makes me to attend Anime Expo!
TCG is my favorite way to play - me a bunch of buddies usually meet up once a week to play against each other.
RIP Kazuki Takahashi.....1961-2022
the guy with the millennium puzzle necklace in the back i need a minute to catch my breath
Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't he activate Mirrorjade two turns in a row? He shouldn't have been able to banish Cyber Dragon Nova.
when mirrorjade is revived it counts as a new copy of the card, so it's like a soft once per turn
I love playing the TCG with friends but I also love testing out new decks in Master Duel
Hey Paul! It was fun seeing you at Anime Expo! Glad I was able to grab a pic with you and Alec.
My favorite way to play Yu-Gi-Oh! is the physical card game but recently I have gotten into Duel Links! RIP Wallet.
I really love Master Duel. I love being able to play with my friends easily, without needing to see them in person. It also has an amazing solo mode, and it shows me more about the different archetypes and how you can put them together. It also helps that I don't need to spend an exorbitant amount of money.
TCG with friends is my preferred way to play. Nothing beats the reactions in person. The laughs and just seeing what everyone's got
The TCG will always be my favorite. The art of the cards and the feeling of opening a pack with a Rare card is such a great rush
My favorite way to play YuGiOh is TCG because it's a good way to get to know people, make new friends, and hang out with old friends.
My favorite way to play is the regular TCG with friends. It's nostalgic and fun, and we all have a good time building new decks and trying them out.
I got back into yugioh playing duel links during the pandemic then when tcg came back, got back to that and now playing both master duel and the tcg!!
I like the same thing but for normal Yu-Gi-Oh, (no skill cards) but just an interactive game without 69 negates
I was at Anime Expo. It was fun! Master Duel is my current favorite way to play Yu-Gi-Oh! now!
This was so dope to watch, thank you so much for the content! This was really cool
I’m happy for you!!!! Team aps!
I really love the regular TCG bc it’s popular way to play and gets you into the game and the experience of playing somebody irl is so thrilling❤️🎉
master duel actually got me back into the game.
TCG! Especially with close friends. We usually duel with archetypes we like, so it’s less about winning and more about trying to pull off wacky plays!
My favorite way to play the TCG is with my two brothers in person taking score w a paper and a pen. When I was younger we only played with each other since we didn’t know anybody else that had cards. Since then I’ve gone on to play in locals and meet other people, but play in paper with them will always be my favorite.
Paul; “Target Masquerade with infinite impermanence…”
The background; “OOOOOOHHH!!!!”
Just the regular way being the TCG. I've had so many memories dueling throughout all my life as it's one of my well activities I've done all throughout my life. This was a fantastic video for those who couldn't have gone showing what was there and congrats to whoever wins the playmat and may the best duelist win!
