Insurance is Too Expensive | Subaru WRX

- Owning the WRX is a fun experience, but is it worth the price of insurance? Before buying a Subaru WRX, it may be a good idea to factor in the price of the insurance.

That's just insane!! Paying 691$/year for full coverage on 2023 VB here in Quebec, Canada. 27 y/o.
Wow! That's a steal!!
It having AWD for the winters here and no sensors, like the eyesight in front, is what I was told, drives the price down!!@@STi_Alan
Damn!!
I'm in Michigan mine just jumped to 1300 for 6 months no tickets in 14 years
show the proof that's almost impossible
it’s a good thing Michigan is such a beautiful state, otherwise with insurance rates like these many would run for the hills.
Yes the beauty of Michigan helps make the high insurance rates a bit more tolerable
Assuming that guy in the black hyundai genesis has the 3.3 twin turbo v6, the 0 to 60 time for his car and an sti are the same at about 4.5 seconds
😂 I think he just go his car since he still had temp tags so he was just a bit too excited
I just got a 2015 WRX STi and the cheapest insurance I could find was $3000. Everything else was 5k+. I live in Washington
Oof! And I thought WRXs in Michigan had it tough...
i also live in washington, and same :/
1 of 700 hyper blue sti, 18.5k of performance mods listed on my 50/100/50 with 500 deductibles. Pay just over 200 a month for myself with Geico which im happy with.
LONG LIVE SUBIE FAM
Oooh very nice!!
@STi_Alan Off the lot with the mods, I'm super blessed to have bought this beast. Just wish I had at least one car person in my circle! Feel like car culture is completely different now, at least the public perception of car people.
@@ARealGopher Nice! I find that many car events in my area especially early morning cars and coffee has a lot of great car enthusiasts and a fun atmosphere
I’m 45, one ticket when I was 17. I’m paying 960.00 every 6 months on my 2020 Sti in Kansas City.
Nice, That's pretty good!
Not too good. I am 27 one ticket and pay that on my 2006 sti. Also had a 2013 and was paying $120 a month. Springfield, MO
In Ontario here paying just under $1500 for full coverage …it’s out there you just need to have a good broker that can find you the deals for your circumstances:)
Edit : @2:32 haha you got me 😂
Nice! Haha yea if you're willing to play their game you can find the best deal
If the WRX subreddit is anything like the BRZ one, y’all be crashing, constantly
As someone regularly in both, I think WRX is worse😂
@@MrBudderTacoMBT wooooow, RIP haha. Can only imagine the Supra and Mustang one then
Went from a jeep wrangler to a 2023 wrx. Only 20 extra bucks a month. Im 38, clean record.
Not bad! Enjoy the new WRX!! ✌️
Yeah it's really amazes how many people are crashing these cars. I'm on my 3rd STI and have owned one since they first came to the States 20 years ago and I've never even lost traction. Here in Florida insurance rates are out of control too. I swapped companies many times in the past couple of years trying to get the best rate, and I'm back with GEICO. I use the safe driver app and that helped quite a bit lowering my payments. I'm like you I generally drive safe and don't race other people. But if I'm feeling like a spirited drive late at night or somewhere when it's appropriate, I just turn the location off on my phone and it won't record the trip. Also I'm a bit older too, so you definitely get judged on your age alone.
Nice!! Continuously shopping around seems like the best way to get the best rates
@@STi_Alan yes customer loyalty is dead with insurance companies. My girl drives a 2012 Civic Si,120k miles. Not one ticket no accidents, 200 a month. I'm actually lucky at 130 a month! Yeah these insurance companies...
An sti in Florida 😂💀. Will never understand dudes buying cars that don’t fit their geography
@@obomasinladen shut up James
I just bet against myself as a good driver. My insurance is $800 AUD but my excess is $2000
Nice, not too bad!
I was expecting a big jump when I switched from a 2023 Honda Civic (base hatch 6 speed 2.0 puny and slow) to a 2023 Subaru WRX but my insurance actually went down. Can't really explain it aside from maybe a higher theft rate with the Civic? Using Traveler's insurance for what it's worth. Good info, I had no idea about these accident and ticket statistics. I pay $113 a month as a 40yo with one small BS speeding ticket for supposedly going 35 in a 25 almost 3 years ago. I imagine as you get older that will be the main factor though and your insurance will continue to get cheaper with a decent driving record.
I also wonder now if the lack of an STI may have helped as well. All the insurance company sees now at most is "limited" for mine. So maybe these aren't flagged as bad as the "sportier" STI's were (in their eyes?)
Nice! I always thought Honda Civics would have lower insurance rates, unless it's the Type R, but maybe insurances see the 2022+ WRXs as more family friendly.
In my 30s my insurance is $600 per 6 months for my 2014 Impreza WRX. Im also shopping upgrades and have gotten a quote on a 2020 STI for like $650 per 6 months so really Its probably more to do with age and how long you been with your insurance company and your history with them.
Thanks for sharing and very good points!
I think it also depends on age, location, and history. I have 3 cars including my STi, all full coverage for less than the price you showed annually.
Yes absolutely! For me, although I have a clean record, I'm still young and in a location with generally higher insurance rates which definitely makes a huge impact
Yo Dude!!! Im 59 and want the WRX wagon 271HP in 6 speed "Manual" (currently being sold in Mexico), so whats with the old age statement??? Just kiddin love you man I am currently driving an 2021 5 speed sport Impreza hatchback. 😂👍
😂 Nice!! I really wish the new WRX Wagon was available in America
I am planning to get the Subaru WRX instead of the sti. The sti the insurance is too expensive for me to afford
haha ikr!? I believe the VA WRXs have similar insurance rates to the STI but maybe insurance will be kinder on the new VB WRX
I pay $107 a month for my 22, and that is full coverage
That's incredible!
how old are you and what insurance?
Bought a 2020 WRX at 18 and my insurance is stupid 😭
Oh no! 😢
yeah my insurance is more than my car payment.
Ouch!! That's crazy!
Insurance + Car payment is $220 for me
Wow that's great!
People try and race me every day here in Irvine and c. I laugh@them . Subies forever, brother.
😂 😂 yea people always wanna race the subie!
@STi_Alan I know, right?
had a guy rev up at a stop light and peel off at a traffic light while i was waiting to turn yesterday. He slammed the curb in his mustang. I kinda just drove off and laughed lol. 2013 STI btw@@STi_Alan
Are you saying that the WRX rate is different than the Sti?
Not necessarily, but some insurance companies might get confused when they see the name Impreza and just assume the Impreza WRX/STI is just the base Impreza but now that the newer WRX/STI 2015+ is a separate car from the Impreza, insurance companies won't confused them anymore. But for the most part it seems like the WRX and STi share a similar/same insurance rate
Im paying $200 a month for my 2018 sti in NYC.
Not too bad!
@@STi_Alan I consider myself extremely lucky
Lol thats more than on the 911 turbo 😅
🥲 sheesh!
120 bucks a month, full coverage 2017 STI
That's awesome!
how old are and what insurance ??
31, State Farm. I have 4 vehicles on my plan.
@@vstillman1 im 20 and wanna get a 2017-2018 how do u think they’ll charge me?
At least 250-350 I’m sure
What game is that ?
Need for Speed Unbound!
camaro ss has higher rates in Michigan i believe
That sounds about right
I pay $240 a month
That's tough!
how old are you and what insurance?
@@wrxslo 20 I use root full coverage but the other companies would be $262 a month
I pay 120 In Tha N.West
That's a really good deal!
