Loved it! seeing Chris no strings attached, raw like he is! Makes me reminisce Chris Harris on Cars so much! Can we have more of this coming our way pleaseee CC?! I drove the new M2 a month ago and absolutely loved it.
Bought a 2016 M2 when they came out, then traded that for a 2019 M2 Comp and bought a nearly brand new M2 CS about a year and a half ago. Ended up selling the M2 CS and wound up with the new G87 M2 just because I’m a BMW fan and I figured I’d try it out even though I didn’t particularly like the weight gain, styling, or complexity of the interior …..so you can imagine my shock to find out I actually think it’s the best M2 I’ve yet owned, yes including the CS! For one, the gearbox is better than any BMW manual I’ve had before, the engine sounds better than all the previous M2’s and feels stronger as well. The build quality is granite like, ride quality far better, feels incredibly stable, yet handling is somehow better than the others. I still think it’s awkward from some angles (but really good from others) and some of the tech feels like it’s trying a little too much but the driving experience is the most important thing to me and in that regard this model is a winner. I’m commenting without having watched the video at the point, so curious what Chris’s opinion is on it 🤔

Excellent work! In black that M2 looks acceptable too - basically Harris points out that all the things that irritate us older folks are things you suffer in any new car (screens, odd styling, voice controls etc) but the bits you care about (performance / handling / comfort) are good and points out the single most important thing… BMW still build hot manual saloons 🥰 excellent video Chris and Collecting Cars - 11/10 👏

Brilliant review, and his arguments with the BMW voice assistant had me rolling. Honestly don't think it's a bad looking car, and in black I think it looks rather good. The main issue I have is the large square ducts on the front - if they were just slightly more sculpted I think it would look less "Max Power Bodykit" and more miniaturized supercar.
Wow this video just blew me away! I'm from Germany Stuttgart region and everytime when I see one of these here it's like a breathtaking shining pearl on the streets I'm really in love with this car 😍
Great video, thanks Chris for your clear and expert analysis. I completely agree how ridiculous it is that the lane keeping and speed warnings have to be disabled on every journey.
Someone once said (I cant remember who) that cars that look perfect straight off age quickly and those with looks that grow on you, stay current for much longer. So it is with this car as well as other BMW's and McLarens. A very brilliant review👍🏽
I remember when the E9X gens came out and people were clowning on them for looking like enlarged beetles (I did as well). Now, however, I’m in love with them. Personally, I’m having the same thoughts about the G series, especially the M2. I still prefer the looks of the F87 but recently started warming up to the looks and even considered trading in my car for it.
Well. I wouldn’t say that Frankenstein looks good if you just let him grow on you. I am really a BMW guy. But this car is just so over the top and with strange proportions. It did not grow on me a bit even though my best buddy has one.
Chris is the true legend of top gear, but also his knowledge and critic is unparalleled. Absolutely right about cars. The same being said about this car. Top class
So this video teaches us: Weight doesn't really matter. Looks don't really matter. Noise doesn't really matter. Steering feel doesn't really matter. Getting your balls pinched on the seat doesn't really matter. Going sideways on a really track matters. Okay, maybe for Chris, a racing driver, that makes sense, but for most normal M car buyers, they might care about some of these things, and might not go sideways on track that much.
4 months ownership and enjoying the car every day without any regrets🤔 the noise from the motor pushing in forth gear puts a smile on my face instantly.
I had a M2 Competition 2019 to last month. I loved it. My favourite car I had ever owned. I was disappointed at first when saw pics of the new M2. Then I test drove it. It looks much nicer in the flesh and it’s a far far superior car to the comp. I traded my M2 Comp for the new M2 3 weeks ago. It’s incredible and I love it
No question its a brilliant car, I just can't get past the design choices. There's also something to be said for how good something needs to be, and whilst it may be better, both previous cars weren't exactly bad themselves. I think cars are starting to become more valuable to people not just because of how they feel, but more so how they look, which is of course a personal thing.
I (and many many others) love the design and so far I only good very good comments on mine, which is in Zandvoort blue - something a lot of people hated even more;)
@@domluu My point is that as cars universally have greater performance (describe it how you like), people are placing more emphasis on aesthetics and emotion. I don't think people can be told that their subjective opinions are 'wrong'. Depending on what someone is buying a car for, I think the way something looks is a very valid reason to buy, or not
I actually like the way it looks now, not only accepting it but like it. The shots in this vid show the curves really well and the black with the yellow plate looks nice, now im not sure which color i like more black or grey
I am very impressed by video production level. So satisfying look at a review from a person who knows how to actually drive an m car and have such experience
@@trevorbailey1448I have had my M3 G80 for 10 months now… haters gonna hate, but I love it. If the wife didn’t make me get a 4 door I would have waited for the M2.
I love my M2 G87 in Toronto Red. After initial design irritations, I think the appearance is great! Many other people have also gotten used to the appearance in a positive way.
Thank you for this amazing content CC! I think the styling looks better in black as it hides some of the blockiness. When it was first shown in blue the giant blocks in front and back REALLY stood out.
As always! Thank you chris! Worth the wait and worth the watch. Simply put, sensational! chris and harry metcalfe are the best presenters in my opinion 👍👍

This car looks great in black, it really downplays the questionable front end. I do miss the screaming engine center piece of previous M cars, seems like those days are over unfortunately, but this car certainly has the performance to back up the M badge. Excellent review Chris!

First proper M2 review I've seen, Brilliant. I hope your Bollocks have recovered Chris?
Great video, thanks Chris for your clear and expert analysis. I completely agree how ridiculous it is that the lane keeping and speed warnings have to be disabled on every journey.
Someone once said (I cant remember who) that cars that look perfect straight off age quickly and those with looks that grow on you, stay current for much longer. So it is with this car as well as other BMW's and McLarens. A very brilliant review👍🏽
Well said!
💯nailed it and bmw knows this very well
Well. I wouldn’t say that Frankenstein looks good if you just let him grow on you. I am really a BMW guy. But this car is just so over the top and with strange proportions. It did not grow on me a bit even though my best buddy has one.
@@amggeniuses4575 "That's just something ugly people say."
Chris is the true legend of top gear, but also his knowledge and critic is unparalleled. Absolutely right about cars. The same being said about this car. Top class
As always, a good ride watching your review! But I have to ask is it as FUN on the road as the F87? You don't really comment on that.
So this video teaches us:
Weight doesn't really matter.
Thanks, not mentioning the absolut dogshite gear ratios which the manual gearbox has. Forces you out of boost each time you switch gears
Couldn’t agree more Chris - this is why I bought one and absolutely love it !
How is it? I'm planning on picking up a used m3 but do I need a bigger car if m2 does everything similar in a smaller package?
4 months ownership and enjoying the car every day without any regrets🤔 the noise from the motor pushing in forth gear puts a smile on my face instantly.
How does everyone got money for this
@@WtRigger100it’s called work.
@@Bimmer_i4_M50 in the Netherlands it would cost 125k without options:)
Great honest review, for a great car! Simple as that. Wish these types of reviews were on a main stream channel on the TV on a regular basis…
Exceptional review by Chris, as expected. Love the new M2.
Spot on ! It's the design Chris , we hate the ugly designs ,no one said it's a bad car !
I (and many many others) love the design and so far I only good very good comments on mine, which is in Zandvoort blue - something a lot of people hated even more;)
Great, glad you're enjoying your car@@mkm6073
@@domluu My point is that as cars universally have greater performance (describe it how you like), people are placing more emphasis on aesthetics and emotion. I don't think people can be told that their subjective opinions are 'wrong'. Depending on what someone is buying a car for, I think the way something looks is a very valid reason to buy, or not
@@Bu-22 Haha, I have done a very similar thing before today! As long as people are happy that's all that matters :)
I actually like the way it looks now, not only accepting it but like it. The shots in this vid show the curves really well and the black with the yellow plate looks nice, now im not sure which color i like more black or grey
This is better than Top Gear. Just keep doing these
I am very impressed by video production level. So satisfying look at a review from a person who knows how to actually drive an m car and have such experience
Good to see you back on our screens Chris, great review too 👌🏻😎 subscribed 👍🏻
As always - nobody does it better. Thanks Chris for enlightening us regarding the new M2! 👍
Chris doing what he does best. He’s an absolute legend. Hats off sir.
This is the review that M2 needed from its market launch!
Absolutely fantastic! ✌
Couldn't agree more 🤔 enjoying my ownership 4 mouth in...
Same here. Sadly just put mine away for the winter.
Well they should have paid Chris for it sooner.
@@trevorbailey1448I have had my M3 G80 for 10 months now… haters gonna hate, but I love it. If the wife didn’t make me get a 4 door I would have waited for the M2.
@@scottyk329 i am pushing it until the snow comes then i will do the same🤔
I love my M2 G87 in Toronto Red. After initial design irritations, I think the appearance is great! Many other people have also gotten used to the appearance in a positive way.
Your presenting is absolutely brilliant.
The front grill looks like my old dodge Ram 😂
You describe it more politely than I ever would! 😅
Unfiltered Chris is pure magic. Love the review and keep up the good work. He actually changed my mind about the M2. I am warming up to it now.
Thank you for this amazing content CC! I think the styling looks better in black as it hides some of the blockiness. When it was first shown in blue the giant blocks in front and back REALLY stood out.
Yes, just like the Pontiac Aztek, this ugly exterior looks best in black, to hide the ugliness.
Beautifully, engagingly filmed and paired with the absolutely superb presentation one comes to expect from Mr Harris.
Proper driver, uncensored, Gives HIS opinion not what’s the flashy opinion. Great review.
As always! Thank you chris! Worth the wait and worth the watch. Simply put, sensational! chris and harry metcalfe are the best presenters in my opinion 👍👍
Like all of the other comments, I absolutely loved this video. The content is informative, the driving experience was so much fun and Chris Harris….perfect! I hope someday I can meet you just to thank you for all of your work! From drifting GT3’s to now the M2! Awesome!!! Thank you!
This car looks great in black, it really downplays the questionable front end. I do miss the screaming engine center piece of previous M cars, seems like those days are over unfortunately, but this car certainly has the performance to back up the M badge. Excellent review Chris!
Only in black.
it's hard to do a more engaging car review than that. Fckg nailed it. Beautiful work.
More of this content. Unfiltered Chris Harris is all i needed :D Amazing review, awesome M2 !
