    The previous "mechanic" didn't make sure sensor was clipped in properly? What an absolute muppet. Then he leaves a screwdriver lying in the engine bay? Spot on with the sarcasm Jimmy. Guys like that give all mechanics a bad name. We have our fair share of them here in Ireland, particularly in main dealers who appear to genuinely not give a damn, and all they do is swap in new parts when a proper diagnosis might have saved the customer money. I've had main dealers damage my car and then try to convince me that "it was like that when you brought it in". Well as I'm someone who washes his car every week, I know every mark, scratch, chip and dent on it. Which is why I look after my own car now. Keep up the great work Jimmy. You're single handedly redeeming the profession of car mechanic.

      You're spot on about main dealer mechanics, they are terrible.
      I always recommend to friends to find 2 good independent mechanics, and use them both form time to time, always good to have a backup if one is unavailable.

    • @davidmehlhorn726

      @@potluckfishing For years, I had trouble with a pulsing brake pedal that the main dealer said was due to the brake discs warping. I said to him that can’t be true as they never lasted more than 6 months before the pulsing came back. So I started to educate myself and found that the pins on the brake callipers were seized as they’d never been lubricated by the main dealer when servicing the brakes. So I cleaned the pins, applied some grease, changed the rubber gaiters and hey presto, never had brake pedal pulsing again. To think of all the money the main dealer charged me for replacing brake discs when some grease on the caliper pins fixed the issue. 🤬

    Before using your cleaning fluid do you need to have a hot / fully warmed up engine for it to be effective?
    The jlm stuff we use requires that I'm sure .

    • @stiggyness1976
      @stiggyness1976 ปีที่แล้ว

      It not top of the engine, it's on top of the air filter and ECU has the cooling fins facing downwards so the outside air that comes in via the air ducting that's at the front of the car help keep it cool.

    • @khalidacosta7133
      @khalidacosta7133 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stiggyness1976 You are right, it's not on top of the engine, it's on top of the airbox, that has a hole in it to fit the ECU... which is directly above the exhaust manifold. That is objectively worse. Much worse. What happens when the car isn't moving? Heat rises..... Those lovely fins just act like a big radiator, increasing surface area to absorb the heat.

    Replaced sensor now working ok and codes cleared but one new code appeared after road test p244c temp too low for regeneration

    I dont know, maybe I am old school. But when I work on a customers product in electronics, and I break something by mistake, then I fix it. If I loose a part i replace it. What are these mechanichs thinking when they break clips and loose a clip and think they can just put it back together and ship it? That's just WRONG in my eyes.

    • @khalidacosta7133

    Dpf fault is 80% user fault, 20% mechanical fault.
    Don't read manual of car, don't not knowing what the light means (adblue / dpf). I know people who get stuck in their new car because they don't know that the blue light is blinking (it's filling) until it has a solid blue (it won't start).
    in the case of vans, they never regenerate if they have to stop and they have a parking lot or are working, who cares? until he has problems (not to mention that in the City it is the worst place to do it)

    I see u didn't check the glow plugs to see if they work, they're usually the main culprit for failed DPF regen, in this case sure data plug was not all way in etc so more reason for regen to fail but sometimes problem could arise from more than one thing not working right, would Mercedes give out fault codes for defective glow plugs?
    I know some brands don't give out codes for broken glow plugs, I had KIA Optima, I only knew glow plugs were defective after removing and testing them with a meter, no code in dash or from the scanner and only 1 glow plug was still working from a total of 4.
    All in all smashing job u did as usual, people not seeing stuff ... common sense is not that common any more.
