Your well thought out and properly spelled constructive criticism has helped me to see the error of my ways. I thank you for the service you have performed to society and your comment will matter to at least one person in the universe. I congratulate you.
What an absolutely top notch guide. Hardened players forget that not everyone knows this stuff and have nowhere to learn it. Great tutorial and subscribed.
Thanks for putting this up: just started getting into Gears and found it's one hell of a learning curve for coming from other games. Gotta get used to dealing with the shotguns and this helps a lot.
I had the exact same problem when I first started, shotguns were my enemy. I had a friend show me the ropes which helped a lot so I was hoping I could do the same for some others!
That is very true, there are many people who "claim the gnasher is better then the sawed off" but the problem is, you nearly cannot ever use them the same way. Basically saying, you kind of cant use the same technique.
@stormkenshin It often seems that way. The only way they can one shot down you is with an active reload, my guess is you aren't hitting your shots square on the enemy which I find to be the hardest part. In order for your shot to truly do damage you need to hit them as central as you possibly can.
@loyalJbaird It depends on how you play. With my strafe I need a high sensitivity, but if you do not trust yourself to make those large jerks instantly or want to have more of a safety net then lower is the way to go. I recommend you play with different sensitivities and see what suits you best.
I have a good question. How is it that 90% of the time im in a shotgun battle I end up getting 4 pointed before i get a chance to shoot. If not that when ever I shoot my shotgun my point blank shots dont even look like im effecting my opponent. I just dont understand how its like im shooting blanks when I shotgun my opponents but they can 4 point or single shot down me.
@Madelineblooddoll That is a great skill to have. Most people are unable to follow people as well when they wall bounce as to when they just stay still. Strafing is the best way, but it is an advanced tactic and this video is more for people who are having trouble with the basics. Once they master those, they can then move onto things such as strafing.
@UniqUeCrosS Don't you hate when you wallbounce and the enemy starts shooting at you with a retro lancer and when they see it's pointless they either retro charge you or melee you to death? :/
@loyalJbaird Sensitivity is based on what your comfortible with, im a 20,20,18 kinda guy, and i recommend starting low and working your way up to something like mine.
@Razemaster58 ProTips is the name of the series (all my vids like this) and this just a base gnasher tutorial. My apologies, but I am working on a more advanced one that may contain a few "Pro Tips" Check back when you get a chance!
i dont blind fire when im behind cover, its simply easier when they start walking/ roadie running to you to roadie run out of cover and one shot them in a flash.. because sometimes if you make that "educated guess" their first instinct is to backroll then its all screwed up..you dont get the kill then we all get sad...
Also, people got the trick of taking out wallbouncers down pat. I used to improvise these methods to take out a whole team in an open space, but now I'm f'd whenever someone sees me. And if I try to camp it out, they'll just send out recon to take me out.
actually for this tutorial I did a couple of test runs and it is useless in this game because the enemy can shoot you quicker than you can recover from the melee. So it actually puts you at a disadvantage.
Hey just a heads up. No smart assin it but maybe try to throw in a sniper, digger, or any of the heavy weaponry then you go a full piece of work. Not an expert this is just coming from the guy whose trying to learn from the best. It seems like you know what your talking about so thanks and good luck.
there was a video that helped explain this. It is called "sponging" what happens is this... you may see them get hit (via all the blood splatter on the opponents body) and you are actually shooting wide left or wide right, like what the poster of this video said... it is a hit detection issue. Use the female characters or the Kantus' if you are locust or big rig dizzy and commando dom if you are human they are big spongers... msg me and i can send the link to the video.
i actually find that i kill more people who wall bounce then people that don't. wall bouncing it's predictable where they will go, because i can see all the cover. people who play normal though they could do anything. once you see someone bouncing and the direction they face it's so simple to track and kill them. just watch their turning. Then they are just like some gimmick monster in an rpg, with a pattern you see and exploit.
@stormkenshin I.know right. I swear to god I point blank people they say "that doesn't scave me"then just one shots me. I get double teamed and lancered down. No skill. But almost never loose 1v1 shotgun battles. 1v1 record 33-2.
@MonkeyBusinessGaming Strafing makes no sence to me. Moving side-to-side doesn't save you. Ive tried it and it doesn't work. Don't call me an noob cause I'm an '06 veteran and it just doesn't work for my game style. I'm an rushing-wall bouncing player. I mean I wall bounce so fast people actually can't shoot me. Strafing are for people who can't aim right.
this doesnt seem like a very "protip" video lol. your gonna go against some1 who knows how to bounce for a battle theres not really much you can do even if they have a sawed off. its about leverage and speed aswell not just accuracy.
i disagree with your gnasher vs gnasher technique. normally in situations rolling will cause you to take more shots. rolling+shotgun battle= you die. i would recommend wall bouncing or strafing as an alternative.
Lol Roll? Don't do that. Trust me. Unless ur running away. Strafing is the name of the game. Bouncing is best IN GEARS 3 when the odds are against u. 2v1, 3v1. Or u gettin crossed and tryna get a kill. But a lot of what this dude is saying is true tho. Pop actives and never get too close. Unless the odds are against u. And ur time is limited. Like if ur 4pointed.
+Bryan Marriott it's pretty easy to get around retro...my snub and hammer burst take care of that not the gnasher like most sheep use flanking suppressing reviving teammates sharing ammo there is nothing wrong with what I stated above....elites probably play like that but your average player is all about him and no one else
true to many bairds, Elite players in the MLG pro league use lancers and snubs most of the time and gnasher only when in gnasher distance... the rules in MLG state that they cant use retro or hamer otherwise they would i guess.
Your well thought out and properly spelled constructive criticism has helped me to see the error of my ways. I thank you for the service you have performed to society and your comment will matter to at least one person in the universe. I congratulate you.

Thank you, I didn't realize the range or shot group on the gnasher till now.
Very helpful and clear. Well done. Great tip about the using the omen as well.
dude u helped me a whole bunch i was losing against my friend 15-1 and then i saw ur vid and i caught up and won 15-20 ur the best :)
Knowledge is power... even the smallest tips help.
Excellent video! Learned several things from your tutorial.
Nice vid, I play Gears a lot and still learnt some stuff, thanks.
This is a challenging game but these tips worked. Thanks
I had the exact same problem when I first started, shotguns were my enemy. I had a friend show me the ropes which helped a lot so I was hoping I could do the same for some others!
@ranpo677 Glad I could help. Knowing the "X" makes a big difference.

great tutorial dude
Best guide by far!!
good stuff bro your helping new players
Really helpful man thanks alot
Thanks for the tips-esp about wallbouncing!
good they fix that, cuz i remember from the first GoW if u hold gnasher and melee someone, recovery time let u have a clean shot in 9/10 situations
We welcome you to the series. Be on the lookout for another tutorial that helps with the gnasher coming soon.
Thanks for tips it really helped :)
thank you for making this video!
that's very helpful. What's your opinion about melee+shot routine in close combat? that's work's well in first GOW...
Nice tips! Thanks :)
i give u some props it helps new ppl
good tips bro thanks😎

Good video! It helped! I suck at this game. lol

really useful video
Very Fucking Helpful i was rage quitting until i watch this so helpful THANKS
nice Tutorial
@MrDrewster15 You hit rb on the thinner white bar
Yes, just the basics. For people new to Gears having trouble with fundamentals like I did when I started.
@Jace5646 lol. aright kid. im guessing u use the sawed off?
I have a good question. How is it that 90% of the time im in a shotgun battle I end up getting 4 pointed before i get a chance to shoot. @Trollercoast3r Thanks, I truly do appreciate it. I hope you enjoy future content and I love all feedback!

what sort of situations is getting as close as possible good? and what about situations where it is 1vs2 or 3.
I only saw this today and wish that I would have found it earlier.. :( But it will propably help me anyways so thanks :)
@UniqUeCrosS
Don't you hate when you wallbounce and the enemy starts shooting at you with a retro lancer and when they see it's pointless they either retro charge you or melee you to death? :/

How do you do active reload?
nice video
When you hard aim, you gotta do sweep and lead shots.
D00D did you say thanks for helping me for the video at the end?
im a very good player at gears but these helps on some of the basics
@MrDrewster15 Melee (B button) is the easiest way.
Someone answer plz. How do you stop reloading to have an active reload?
I hope this video helps me, because my kd has been dropping fast!
WHAT ARE UR SENSITIVITY SETTINGS???
i dont blind fire when im behind cover, its simply easier when they start walking/ roadie running to you to roadie run out of cover and one shot them in a flash.. because sometimes if you make that "educated guess" their first instinct is to backroll then its all screwed up..you dont get the kill then we all get sad...

how to get the weapon skins
nothing like watching someone get blown in half in slow mo
@Convoking Yea I use 30-30-30. Who's the Pro now?
what if theres no cover?
@JaVSnIpEr Thank you so much!:D
dude one thing i learn with the shotgun. retrolancer.
Unless the person you are battling ALWAYS aims the Gnasher even if your right in his face. Or just wall bounce.
You never want to roll in a shotty battle. If the player is a good player
i watched the whole vid because i wanted to see the pro tips that u promised in the title... but there were no pro tips :(
Hey just a heads up. No smart assin it but maybe try to throw in a sniper, digger, or any of the heavy weaponry then you go a full piece of work. Not an expert this is just coming from the guy whose trying to learn from the best. It seems like you know what your talking about so thanks and good luck.
What I'm talking about is going against these weapons w/ he gnasher. Just reinforcing.
or u can put sensitivity higher
Gow3Forever
dude im so much better with the gnasher like this comment if this tutorial made you better
there was a video that helped explain this. Hate to say rolling in a Gnasher fight isn't the best decision
sawed off use shake n' bake tactic look it up on youtube
@Jace5646 Someone asked me to define Noob today. I said Jace5646. They knew exactly what I meant.
@ MBG srry.
@stormkenshin I.know right. I swear to god I point blank people they say "that doesn't scave me"then just one shots me. I get double teamed and lancered down. No skill. But almost never loose 1v1 shotgun battles. 1v1 record 33-2.
@loyalJbaird 20, 20, 20 Ima Gears Pro So Yeah Get Used to the highest speed and you will have no problem with movement
@badbendude When your one of the best wall bouncers and fastest also and have more then 80% of my kills with Gnasher then your pro bro...
Rolling?! No, you never roll! It's pretty much a death sentence in a 1v1.
Strafing are for people who can't aim right.
you forgot strafing.
rolling? no that's not what you want to do. and it's a shotgun, a close range weapon. so use it for that
to play on??? def not easy
dont roll if ur playing against a better player when u roll you are dead
this doesnt seem like a very "protip" video lol. your gonna go against some1 who knows how to bounce for a battle theres not really much you can do even if they have a sawed off. its about leverage and speed aswell not just accuracy.
@predalian5 I wanna hate in you do bad but I'm not an hater! :D
i disagree with your gnasher vs gnasher technique. normally in situations rolling will cause you to take more shots. rolling+shotgun battle= you die. i would recommend wall bouncing or strafing as an alternative.
HHIIIII
who will use a lancer keep shooting you and stand still!!!
Yeah, this tutorial says you should noob-roll
Like wtf?
+Milo van Wierst Forget what is wallbounce and from now, roll everywhere xD
Sensitivity doesn't make you pro bro...
Lol Roll? Don't do that. Trust me. Unless ur running away. Strafing is the name of the game. Bouncing is best IN GEARS 3 when the odds are against u. 2v1, 3v1. Like if ur 4pointed.
these clowns are the reason I lose matches....too many wannabe clutchers
I want to see teamwork
that means lancers,retros,snubs,
sawed offs
Agreed, I play normal TDM and they complain with retro, what i dnt get is why they dnt play TDM hyped mode!
+Bryan Marriott
it's pretty easy to get around retro...my snub and hammer burst take care of that not the gnasher like most sheep use
flanking
suppressing
reviving teammates
sharing ammo

There are sum gd players that understand team death match means you need teamwork and other game modes. Cant wait for Dodgeball on gears 4!
Weak...
These are basic nooby tips.
